Review for Mixin Safe

Configuring Mornin key
I started by creating the Mornin key. For this when i visited the playstore, i found that it was not free and required payment to install it. However, since I do not have the payment method configured in order to purchase the app, i decided to install the APK version of it.
Once installed, i backed the mnemonic phrase in order to secure my account.




Configuring Mixin messenger

Now I installed the Mixin Messenger again from playstore. It was free and there was no payment. I verified it and it ask me the PIN 4 times and then it was all set up. Easy and quick setup process.
I explored the wallet and it supported many cryptocurrencies. The interface was clean too. I did not deposit any amount here directly because i will use the Mixin Safe to deposit.

Configuring Mixin Safe

To do this, i go to the Mixin Safe Dashboard https://safe.mixin.zone/start and followed the step by step instructions there. The first thing i noticed there was the chat readily available and in case of any issue we can always contact their support.



Creating the Safe was the first thing to do here and for that i signing to the mixin messager through the QR Code. The scanning was instant, it ask me to verify my pin and i was able to login to the Safe Mixin Dashboard https://safe.mixin.zone/dashboard

I do not have any plans, so i decided to upgrade to the 2$ plan and see how it actually works. Point to note is that without this upgrade we cannot create the mixin safe.
I payed 2$ using the TRX and the plan was upgraded.



Creating Safe and Testing the Deposit and withdrawals

Now i will create my safe and then test the deposit and withdrawals. The safe creating process was easy, i choose bitcoin Network, and then i scanned the Momin Key and safe was created.



Now i deposited Bitcoin in my Mixin Safe and it arrived successfully.



Now i will check the withdrawal through mixin safe.

It first ask for the members approval, which is done by approving the transaction by the the Mixin Messenger scanning the QR code

Use Mixin Messenger to scan the QR code on the left to approve the transaction request.

Then i approve the transaction as an owner through the Mornin Key and it was successfully done.

Conclusion
It was a good experience of using the mixin safe. Also, this is a more secure solution as now we need at least two approvers before our funds can be withdrawn.

I started my journey with Mixin Safe tutorials and chosen How to use Bitcoin Core GUI to create safe. I have skimmed trough past reports and seen that very few people went with this approach so wanted to do it that way.

I started following the steps from tutorial and immediately found first problem – Login to Safe Dashboard is not a link. I mean whole WWW is made from links, is it that hard to link to it inside the tutorial instead of making user look for it? Of course first hit on google is taking forever to load and I am already loosing patience since I am not even sure it is the right page I am trying to open. After some more googling I found the right page and continued with dashboard.

In order to create safe I have made two separate Mixin messenger accounts and linked them together and inside the safe. This part I will keep intentionally short since it is foolproof and many people already described it in great detail. Anyway, Mixin messenger installation passed without any problems. Only strange thing is that upon installation I received 4 messengers from the team and 2 of them were copies. Another small mistake but one which shows that team does not care about details. Never a good sign. App asked me 4 times to confirm pin which is really an overkill. I could understand third attempt to make it extra sure but 4th one just made me feel like my time is totally unappreciated, and that feeling has not left me during whole time I have been using Mixing products.

Problems started when I needed to use Bitcoin Core Gui  in combination with Mixin dashboard. I believe tutorial has some mistakes since copy pasting the commands did not work for me both in Gui and Daemon.





I managed to make it work by manually typing the commands and guessing my way trough like there is no tutorial. My biggest problem with this step is that is so easy to solve. Just take a look at next picture. Dashboard knows I am using Bitcoin Core, is it that hard to provide correct commands and parameters inside the code window or in separate one? There is no need for tutorial, just simple copy paste from this page should have everything needed to make it work. I mean I feel like I could code it one day and it would save so much time for customers. Another point where I feel like team does not care about customers. Furthermore, I am quite certain than none of them tried to make it work with Bitcoin Core, otherwise my above mentioned suggestion would already be implemented in same way.




After creation of safe everything worked as it should. It is easy to top it up and balance change is seen inside Bitcoin Core immediately.



My next "problems" started at the moment I wanted to withdraw the money. Approvals from messenger applications passed ok and were quite straightforward again.


But whole process is incredibly slow and taxing to perform when BitcoinCore is owner wallet. Is it really only possible to be done with this many copy/pasting, being careful to include all that is necessary up to one character and combining info from dashboard and tutorial at the same time?



Again this should have been handled in much more customer friendly way. In the end I managed to complete the transaction and I immediately deleted all the messengers and bookmarks since this is the process I don't want to pass trough ever again.




Conclusion:
I am really at a loss to see who is supposed to use this service. It is much too complicated for newbies and overly cumbersome for experienced bitcoiners, especially in combination with the warning "This is test product, don't use it for more than 1000$". I have my own bitcoin node running and have been using bitcoin core extensively during recent ordinals craze. Without that knowledge I don't think I would have been able to make it work.

This review is maybe a bit too harsh, since I purposely tested something most people will probably not encounter but after doing it, i can only advise fellow users to never try the combination with Bitcoin Core. Furthermore it is so much easier to accomplish similar stuff with simple bitcoin multi sig wallet. I need 2 minutes to set that up and I have all the private keys while here I lost an hour and was never sure what is private and what isn't.

I can see this service to be of use for other coins where multisig wallets aren't native and customers aren't using Bitcin Core as owner wallet. As it stands, unless something gets done I think it is better to drop the support for Bitcoin Core than to make customers go trough this process.

MIXIN

The first thing tried to do before trying out Mixin Safe is to browse around your sites. One thing I found is that you have a lot of products/brands/stuff. For example, domain. I visited many domains as follows:

It is outrageous that Mixin manages and has decided to scatter around the service’s (sub)domain name. Although some of them are not directly related to Mixin Safe, generally, I don’t think it is even a good idea to have that many domains, especially for branding.

Mornin Key
Upon trying to browse around https://mornin.one/key, the list of Support and Legal footer is not clickable, and the icon link also hasn’t yet been set up. The page also claims as an open-source application, but there is no source code link/information in sight.

I tested around to reimport my key to another device, it would be good if the application was able to make an auto-fillable of the phrases, just like a regular cryptocurrency application where the user input the initial character of the phrase and the app will suggest the word.

Also, I utilise the backup feature to iCloud, but on another device, I can’t find a way to restore the backed-up items. You might want also consider to having a backup feature that can manually export the items, I mean not making the users forced to use the default iCloud backup option.

Mixin Messengger
I downloaded the desktop app, and it requires the mobile app.

Upon checking the number format, I saw XIN anonymous number. But no detailed information on what it is all about. Tried to search around https://mixinmessenger.zendesk.com, but there is no information about it.

I set up a pin. Log out of the device, relogin, it asks for confirmation to recover the chat message, and I click skip. Then it immediately logged on, I’m quite surprised since it did not ask for the pin confirmation. It only asks for a pin when I try to open the wallet page/tab.

Quite the contrary with Mornin Key, I can't use a simple pin combination, it forced with to use a complex one. Which is a good thing.

There is nothing much I can say for Mixin Messenger. One thing concerning. This application is a wallet, I don't think a tip-based pin number and phone number make users, especially me, feel safe enough to hold some funds within this application. I mean as the backup option.

Mixin Safe
Now is the time to try Mixin Safe. On the landing page, I was greeted with a nice hero image that conveys what Mixin Safe trying to achieve. Yet.. yet, in the below section, although you give a warning of “This is a beta software and to ensure the safety of your assets, it is not recommended to store more than $1,000.“, I consider it as a dark pattern that rather misguides your user.

I scanned the QR code, but I misclicked the app, trying to rescan, it shows “Invalid request data”. Turns out it was a one-time QR code and I have to refresh the webpage. Once the request authorization pops out came on, on the Profile and Wallet page, I’m able to choose the permission it asks for, the exception is “Read your public profile”. I tried to minimise the permission it would be able to access, but I do not know which one is necessary to use Mornin Key to create Mixin Safe. Also, I look at the related support page, but no information was available. I decided to enable them all.

I think you should add and clarify such kind of information on the related support pages specifically for the Mixin Safe Service’s required permissions. I guess the only one required is the one that did not able to be changed, but adding up the information won’t hurt.

I remember I haven't set up emergency contact on Mixin Messenger after I signed in. So I do it right now. It took me some time to find the way to the Emergency Contact page. I tried to find the information on the support about how to set it up, but it does not available. Kind of irritating.   

Upon trying to create Safes, all, the creation step and payment processes, go smoothly without looking much at the Support page.


Some extremely minor suggestions on the UX side. I think it would be nicer if you can delete members by retapping on the right of the floating pop-up, not only by clicking the ‘x’ on the Member container.

After it was created, I tried to play around to see whether it is possible to delete a Safes. It seems it can’t be deleted. I wonder what if some users want to somehow delete a Safe, noting it is limited by plans the user currently has.

Moreover, I tried to create a new Safe, but did not complete it. It is a nice thing that you put the session into the draft, but firstly I thought it also can’t be deleted. Not only after I click Back on the creation step processes until it shows the Delete button.

Now, when it comes to the deposit step, on the Safe Details page, I can directly copy the address. Great, it's neat. But when I click Receive Deposit page, it shows information that there is a minimum deposit amount. I wondered what happens when the user sent some bitcoins below the minimum amount.

The withdrawal process also goes smoothly, I can follow along without any difficulty. At this time, I just testing around to reject the transaction from withdrawing. It does show as rejected on the Transaction page, but the balance on Safes is missing! The balance shows again after I wait for a couple of minutes and repetitively refresh the pages.

By the way, I love how you insert a game into the live chat.

Finishing it up, Mixin Safe claim as a self-custodial wallet. Well, seems I don’t find any way or information to extract the private key of the multi-sig addresses. So far, I can easily follow along the current step-by-step process to create Mixin Safe using Mornin Key. I consider myself as extremely comfortable with computer stuff. Surely there could be more improvement specifically for the general userbase who have lack of digital/computer literacy.

Okay, I'm going to be brutally honest with this, as I requested to write a review without being completely aware of what was this all about. I don't find one reason to use this service, unless you don't know shit from Shinola about bitcoin, which in that case you shouldn't be owning bitcoin in the first place.

1. General image

First of all, the first impression isn't newbie friendly. It's horrible. Lots of confusing things to take into account, and it's really frustrating for a guy like me who doesn't want to lose a single satoshi from some mistake. So, to sum up, just to use this service, you need:

• Mixin Messenger on some relative's mobile phone.
• Either Bitcoin Core or Mornin (I haven't tried the rest).
• Setup the Mixin Safe dashboard from the owner's computer.

I was genuinely trying to figure out where the safe dashboard page is, because I was just looking in here which describes how to create the members' wallet after you've setup the dashboard, and in here which doesn't contain some bold link that says "Dashboard". The average user won't even take the time to comprehend what's going on there. This message goes to the marketing team.

2. Custody of coins

I cannot fathom how one recommends to use a software that makes the user forfeit the ownership of their coins. The members' wallet, to my surprise, is custodial. I mean the Mixin messenger, which is the app the members use in cooperation with either the owner or the service (in case the owner lost their key). I'm not sure if I understand right, honestly, I hope I have ignored something, but if that's true, then, can't Mixin sign for both themselves and for the members' wallet if needed?

Anyway, I sent ~$30 to the wallet from Mixin messenger, and then attempted to send them to the dashboard's wallet. Boom, $7.35 -- a nice meal -- spent on mining fees for absolutely no reason. Even Binance, the worst of the worst in that matter, charges less for Segwit withdrawals.

3. Using Owner's and Member's wallet to broadcast a transaction

I attempted to empty the owner's wallet, so I create the first free transaction, approved from owner, requested members' approval, the notification sent to my mobile phone was quite cool, approved from members too, and then this message appeared in the dashboard:

Waiting for Safe Network to check this transaction...

Not sure what you're checking there, perhaps that it's my first transaction so I don't get charged? Hopefully. Then, another message showed up:

Safe Network approved this transaction

I'm not quite sure what's this approval. Does the network approve it's a valid transaction? Again, hopefully.

4. Pricing

Alright, I don't like at all the fact that I'm paying to make transactions (asides from mining fee obviously), and neither do I believe that the average, sane Bitcoin user does like that. But, out of curiosity, I wanted to check if you're really paying 25,000 sats for an on-chain transaction. For anyone viewing this, this is my multi-sig address: bc1q9pwsz8cwpvpcpsm3xz4280z3kaqernx9hvyrydetdnaddwc7g3msxwyt0g

Transaction - ca4677993dfb7f7e23d90359b8d01a2712c3226df670fd6df6d8e23bd90fb8cc - is the one that was supposedly paying $7.35 the miner, but to my surprise again, it only paid $0.54. But, as far as I see, the input isn't mine, so I can't really know in advance how they've scheduled to pay on-chain costs, but it's quite making a splash that my transaction (which was 1 input, 1 output btw) can't have costed $7.35.

The $2/year aren't much, but paying for transactions is. Someone who's making lots of transactions should not pick that one. In fact, anyone who's making transactions, because no user just makes one transaction and then disappears.

5. Security

Very, very questionable. The PIN is just too easy to brute force. There are less than a million combinations, a lot less, because you've introduced "easy PINs" that aren't considered secure. The UI lacks user friendliness. I'm somehow supposed to know myself how to back this up? The decentralized-recovery page is supposed to describe that in detail, but it's just filled with buzzwords as already said. Absolutely no essence, such as what to do with Mixin safe, or what if the Mixin network shuts down?

6. Privacy

Terrible. Mixin knows every transaction I make, there isn't much to be said here. The phone number is just an icing to the cake.


Some final, noteworthy stuff:

• I found out there are several apk files when I tried to install Mornin on mobile. There's the one in Google Play Store, the v18 from support.mixin.one, the v33 from mornin.one/key. This just makes the entire experience worse, and rises the chances your development team screw it up when working with Mornin.
• I tried to recover the seed phrase from Mixin messenger. It does produce a valid BIP39, but when I recover it, there are no transactions made whatsoever, so there must be some custom derivation path that I should be aware of?
• One of Mixin messenger's apk is bugged (?)
• There are tons of domain names. This is like a scammer's paradise.

So, in my opinion, learning brand new software (Mixin, Messenger and Mornin), including an intermediary in my transactions, paying for the privilege of doing multi-sig transactions, while having terrible privacy and security for just having a company help me recover my coins in case either me or my family member is incapable of signing a message, is simply not worth it. Educating ourselves about securely setting up a multi-sig, non-custodial wallet is a million times more preferable and responsible.

I have been testing the apps for a few hours while my transaction was confirmed, and I think that it is time to write my review. Sorry for the delay writing it, but the deposit was taking ages, because of my fault.

Mornin Key:

This is the first time I hear about this service, so I decided to create an account for 0.99€ to satisfy my curiosity. In fact, I think it is a good thing to charge a little amount because, otherwise, what other ways do they monetise a free app? I prefer the paid choice. The key manager is very simple and, therefore, very easy to use, yet well built. If I have to be completely honest, I think that I will uninstall it soon, because I'm very traditional in the way I manage my keys.

It was fun but a bit unnecessary when it asked me a fourth time for my PIN. Hard to forget now... It also surprised me that the App lets you secure the account "later": in many other cases you are forced to secure the mnemonic before letting you continue with the process.



Asking for the telephone number as the only way to register is a bit annoying and disturbing, as well as asking for several authorisations that don't make you feel comfortable.




Mixin Messenger:

Very simple App at first sight: just the wallet and chatrooms. It is convenient to have the option to pay your friends directly via messenger, and I'm sure that other big companies will add payment features too, when they make the decision whether it is better to do it with fiat or their own token. In the meantime, tools like the reviewed can be useful for new crypto users who join this journey together and want to make the experience more social. Of course, not the most safe and privacy oriented method, but still useful for a segment of users.

The design and UI are beautiful, but other members complained about the night mode I didn't use.

I also made a few friends there, like the well known worldofcoins and the mysterious "Devid".




Mixin Safe:

For the review, I chose the 2$ option, but it is good to see that if you want to upgrade your plan in the future, there appears clearly that the 2$ you paid will be discounted.



The activation of a Safe was almost instant, and although I had some problems with my BTC deposit (the fees proposed by my wallet were too low and I didn't double check the mempool before accepting, so I'm really sorry for the late review) the withdrawal process was fluid, as expected.



This is the first time I know about this concept, and I like the easy way it offers to use signature and multisig for a cheap price to less technically experienced users. Having to sign with PIN and scanning QRs was interesting.

A few considerations: it is hard to find how to make deposits: when you click on + Receive Deposit (in the middle of the screen) it routes you to withdrawals, if I'm not wrong. You have to go to Safes > Receive, instead if you want to make a deposit.



On the other hand, it is not very intuitive the way to delete a transaction: you have to of through a few steps until you're able to do it: it might be better to have a delete button in the list of transactions.

Although the process was not difficult, it worries me that all these steps can discourage less patient users who might prefer to have all the features in one App. On the other hand, the apps were quite intuitive to use and the interface beautifully designed, imo. Concerns about security should be taken into account before using these apps, like other members said before me.

Prepare the Owner Wallet: and Prepare Members Wallet:

There we go.
I installed the Mixin messenger from the play store, and the signup process was easy. I also installed the APK version of the mornin' key, and there is nothing much to explain about it. At first, I was confused about the product and didn't know where to start. I tried the mixin service even before this review campaign started. Back then, I was unable to register using my phone number because I wasn't getting the OTP from mixin service. So, I gave up that time. I installed the Mixin messenger again this week and got the OTP within seconds. I am unsure if the problem was from my Sim company side or maybe the Mixin side. But, this time, it worked perfectly. Like others, I wouldn't say I liked opening an account using the phone number, even though the campaign says you can use a throwaway phone number.

Setup the Mornin key was super easy. But also didn't particularly appreciate that users can screenshot Mnemonic Phrases. This will make those users lazy to write it down offline, and they may store it digitally, which may be leaked online.

I will not write a tutorial on creating an account as those things are essential, and everyone probably knows how to do these things, whoever is familiar with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

Set Mixin Messenger PIN

I had some difficulties setting up the pin. For some reason, I had to try a couple of times to create the PIN. I get an error that says in red, "Unable to connect to TIP network. Check your connection and try again".



This could be because of my slow internet connection as I successfully set up the pin, probably in 3rd try or fourth. I was amazed that I had to confirm my pin for the fourth time. This shows how important it is to remember the PIN.

It was super simple to sign in on the website. Just visit https://safe.mixin.zone/login and scan the QR code from the Mixin messenger app. After successfully scanning the QR code, the app asks you to permit the login. You can check the boxes for which permission you want to give and which you don't (just like the image below), and then you have to enter the PIN you set up earlier to log in on the mixing Dashboard successfully.



Plan upgrade:

I had to upgrade the plan before I created the Safe, and as far as I know, the Mixin team decreased the plan fee because of this campaign.
There was various payment method to upgrade my plan. I choose TRX because I cannot send $2 from my Electrum. I noticed that Mixin detected my payment even before the transaction got any confirmations.



Add Mixin Messenger Contacts:

I have added my wife to my Messenger contacts. To add someone to your messenger contacts, Click on the avatar top right corner and click on Add Contact. Write the Mixin ID or phone number of the Contact you want to add and click on search. The Contact will pop up, and then click on Add Contact. You are done here.



Creating Safe:

Creating a safe is easy as well. Click on safes and then +New Safe. Write your safe name, and Bitcoin was already selected by default. I let it be selected and clicked on next. The 2nd step is crucial. You have to choose the owner wallet which you want to use. Using the mornin key is not mandatory. If you own a Ledger wallet, you can go with that, and if you have the latest Bitcoin core wallet, you can continue with that as well. But, in my case, I picked the Mornin key.

Open the Morning key app, scan the QR code to add it, and proceed to the next step.

I selected my wife and myself in the member's section, which asks to set your family or team members and then proceed to create the Safe.



The status was "Proposing" for a while, and then the QR code for approval appeared.
I scanned it from my Mornin key app and approved the Signature request. My Safe has been successfully created, and it is active now.





Transactions:

After that, I made a deposit, which was credited to my balance after one network confirmation. For some reason, my Dashboard showed zero balance even though the transaction tab showed confirmed transactions.









I don't think explaining the rest of releasing the withdrawal part is necessary. The timeline shows the log already.

Final words: The overall system looks extremely safe to me. I liked how it needs to get approved from several options, and I can even select more members to secure my wallet. I may consider using it as its security convinces me.

But, The problem is the website F.A.Q is not friendly for newbies. The website can link to those reviews for newbies, and they can check those reviews to check how it works. Mixin should create some video tutorials for newbies to guide them. The platform does not explain how it works. At first, it looks like a mixer. But you have to tell people it's safe, not a mixer.

Looks like I'm the 1st one in this review campaign to use your products using and iPad (iPadOS version 16.3.1). I didn't include chat support conversation in the video because waiting for the chat support took so long. The good thing is that while I was waiting for the reply from the chat support, I could actually play a mini-game which Flappy Bird. This is my very first time encountering this kind of chat support which very nice idea. But after playing the Flappy Bird the chat says that I was disconnected. (This one should be fix)


Mornin Key on Apps Store (TestFlight)

Compared to my review of the website (https://safe.mixin.zone/), this Mornin Key from the App Store's TestFlight is a disaster using iPad (iPadOS version 16.3.1).
• The passcode key doesn't fit on iPad screen while on landscape (Portrait looks good).
• Since I can only save my secret seed phrase through a screenshot to make it easy for me to find it, the problem is that when I switch back to the tabs for screenshots and then return to the Morning Key App to put the seed phrase it takes me back to the passcode area and so on.
- My recommendation for this is: don't let your users type again and again the passcode. It's kinda annoying.
• I tried to create another account in Mornin Key with same account name but different Uppercases/Lowercases they allowed me to create the account without requiring me to save the Mnemonic Phrases. But the good thing is, you can look back at the Mnemonic Phrases for that account by clicking the account name and again the ask for passcode.

Mixin Messenger IOS

I installed Mixin Messenger on both iOS TestFlight since it is free there and Android. Installing, viewing QR wallets and QR Mixin contact, creating a pin (4 times to confirm the pin), adding contacts, receiving/depositing, and sending/withdrawing crypto with all those different OS went perfectly smoothly.

Depositing & Withdrawing funds from other platform to Mixin Messenger

Deposit

I transferred TRX from Stake.com to my Mixin Messenger's TRX address the process went smoothly. I just had to wait for a short while, which is typical unless the network is congested. It's important to note that this isn't a problem with our app everything seems to be functioning as expected.


Withdrawal

I attempted to withdraw funds from your platform, but I decided not to proceed due to the unexpectedly high transaction fee. Can you imagine withdrawing 29 TRX and having to pay 80 TRX for the transaction fee?  This is far different other platforms with in comes of transaction fee. The difference in fees was quite significant, and it made me reconsider whether I should proceed with the withdrawal process.

Beginning - I'm giving this review using the Mornin key on my iPhone using TestFlight.

* Setting up the Mornin key was easy after the invite via TestFlight.


Mixin Messenger - Again, I'm using Mixin Messenger on an iOS device.

* I like the four times PIN confirmation prompt, which states how important it is to remember the PIN code (if lost, then the user may lose access to Mixin Messenger)
* One of the best functions in the Mixin Messenger app is that you're able to send crypto to your contacts. It reminded me of the Pillar (PLR) app
* After getting into the Mixin Messenger app, I joined 'The Mixin Safe Beta Testing Group' There weren't enough people, but the chat was going ok between testing users.




Mixin Safe - 1. Creating Mixin Safe is super easy. Just click Safes, provide the name for safe, and select the network (It was Bitcoin in my case).
I, however, didn't deposit into the safe, but I did deposit into the Mixin Messenger via Binance BEP-2, so I faced problems upgrading to the premium plan for one year because that method wasn't supported for buying the Plan, so I had to use Bitcoin for buying a membership.



2. Then select the wallet that holds the owner key of the current safe. It was MorninKey in my case. (Easy)



3. I'm testing the app, so I paid for the 1-year premium plan, which allowed me to create a Safe. I might consider upgrading to other plans if I find myself using the app in the future.



4. New Safe: In Threshold "How many members need to confirm a transaction." -

I'm selecting only 1 in my case because I don't have any family members or friends using the app, but I'll definitely recommend it to a few people I know who are into crypto.
After scanning the QR code with MorninKey, it successfully created the Safe.


Deposit: I looked at the other reviews and found BTC fees were around 0.0002 BTC for withdrawal, so I deposited via Binance Mainnet BNB (BEP-2) around 4$, and the process of deposit was easy compared to withdrawal.

Withdrawal: Coming to withdrawal, the fee is still around 2 USD in Binance BEP-2, So I avoided the withdrawal for the time being because there isn't enough BNB in my MixinMessenger app. I'll consider withdrawing in the future if the fees go down. Otherwise, I'm happy to store the BNB in the app without any problem.

Update: I've sent more BNB for review. I'll update this post as soon as I get them. I've sent the BNB and it was fast after adding the memo in BEP-2 transfer and the fee was '0.0075 BNB'



Overall the Deposit and Withdrawal are easy, but the fees are 'Low to Mid' range, at least for the BNB, but I can't say for Bitcoin or ETH because I haven't used that. But reading the reviews of other testers, it seems the fees are quite high. If I'm not wrong, then someone said the Bitcoin fee is around 0.0002 BTC for withdrawing, which is quite high and around 5-6 USD.



Conclusion -

1. The number of cryptos in Mixin Messenger exceeds MixinSafe's number of cryptos, so it would be better if we could have more crypto options in MixinSafe.

2. Initially, setting up Mixin Messenger took a lot of time. The whole process of setting up MorninKey Plus Mixin Messenger will take quite some time for the first timer for the majority, but it will be only for the first timers. Once they know the ins and outs of the process, then it will be an easy job for them/anyone to create Mixin Messenger and Safe.

3. I saw the warning on Mixin Safe that, at the moment, the software is in beta testing and only under '1000 USD' max should be used. I saw a youtube video and found out Mixin has been around for over five years, and still, it's in beta testing, and It would be best if the team could state for how long it will be in beta.

With this, I will conclude my review, Again, thank you, Royse, for giving me an opportunity to review Mixin. It was fun.

First off, I did all the Mixin Messenger thing on a Mac, and used Mornin Keys on an Android device. Thought I should leave this here so that people should know that the apps still work smoothly regardless of the OS difference.

Downloading Mornin Keys

This is the first thing that I downloaded and saw that it will cost me a dollar to install. It's an efficient little confirmation tool that communicates most of the requests fairly quick. It's great that it also allows you to use the biometric security feature of your phone rather than having you input your password every time you change apps on your phone.



Preparing Mixin Wallet/Messenger

This one was fairly easy: the https://safe.mixin.zone/ page neatly displays a QR code and some pointers on why you should use Mixin Messenger. Everything was smooth leading to this point until I was hit by a road block:



I couldn't quite continue from where I left off after I tried creating a wallet. Little have I realized that the dock of the Mac was blocking whole "Next" button which will allow me to proceed to the next step. I wouldn't comment much on the placement of that little button but it will be a little better if that button was somewhere close on the "Network" tab. It took me a good 5 minutes to realize what the problem was, and I found it accidentally when I tried to switch between desktop and saw the blue button during the transition.



This is what it looks like without the dock. I know there's a lot of free real estate at the bottom of the page but then again..


Anyway, moving forward. Things were still going smoothly and I haven't noticed anything that will be a road block for a new user should they decide to use Mixin messenger. The next step requires one to confirm or 'authorize' the creation of a new safe by scanning the QR code through Mornin keys. Scanning takes a quick second and the authorization process went by quickly. This step only took me a minute to get past to.



This is the next step that you'll get once you have scanned the QR code displayed on the Mixin web app:



And this is what it should look like once Mornin keys recognized the QR code:



I know that people are used to apps that automatically authorizes things when they scanned a QR code. Note that Mornin keys does not do that, and you have to manually click the 'Authorize' button that appears on the floating window after the app recognizes the QR code.



Authorization takes a few seconds to complete, and the Mixin web app will automatically move to the next step once the authorization is done. This is what it looks like from Mornin keys and the Mixin web app at the same exact moment (I'm not exaggerating this):





Afterwards, you will be redirected to the third step which will ask you to upgrade your plan. I know, it sounds something that requires money again, but the prices are on the low side considering that you'll get something secure for all your transactions. For the basic plan, it costs around $2 which is a good price if you're looking to test whether Mixin Messenger is for you.



You have the option to add contacts wherein you can designate them to be one of the signature holders for a multi-sig safe. You are not required to add more than 1 signature holder for each safe you create, so I opt to stick with 1 on the above picture.

Once you have paid the amount indicated on the checkout page, you will then be greeted by this page:



You need to scan the QR code on your Mornin keys in order to finalize creating your safe. Once you have scanned the QR code in the webpage, the Mixin team will send you a message on the mobile app indicating that you have successfully created your safe.



The notifications, however, are not as instant as opposed to the confirmation back-and-forth between Mornin keys and the Mixin web app, but that's not an issue. After you have created the safe, you will be transported to the home page of the web app and you now have the option to view your safe.

For the purpose of this review, I have intentionally created a blank safe, or something that I haven't upgraded the plan of to check how it looks like if you have a pending safe creation. It's neat that they thought of saving your progress on every safe you have not finished as you have the option to delete them or continue them as you like - whether you are waiting for a new contact to create their own Mixin messenger for you to add them as a signatory in one of your multi-sig wallet. Whatever the case is, your progress is there right where you left off.



Sending a transaction

Now these next few steps aren't complicated, too. If you're using any typical wallet for the last few months/years, the processes are the same.

1. Choose which safe you're going to use the funds from the transaction.



2. Input the address of the receiver you're going to send the funds to. You can just use the old copy and paste trick to complete this step. No QR codes involved here as I'm using the Mac web app version.



3. You will have to open your Mixin messenger and scan a QR code after hitting the Approve button on the lower part of the screen. The page also shows you the members required to authorize the transaction that are involved in the creation of the safe. It's a neat way of showing who needs to sign what. Members of the safe will also get a notification that they need to sign or authorize something.

Again, not hating on the web design. I know it's placed there due to the amount of white space on the bottom part of the page, but it would be easier if they placed it somewhere near where most of the details on the transaction are placed.

4. Once that's done, the blue Approve button will turn gray:



5. You will be transported to the last part of the transaction. You will have to use Mornin keys in order to authorize the whole thing that you just did in Mixin messenger. It's a nice way of making sure that the transaction is extra secure, and that no one who might have access to your Mixin messenger can complete the transaction themselves. An extra layer of security is always welcome.

Oh and did I mention that it's neat that they have the QR code changing every second? This is the first time that I saw something like this, tbh. Great use of that existing tech!



6. The following image is what will appear on your Mornin keys once you have scanned the changing QR code. Again, you will have to manually approve the whole thing by clicking the 'Approve' button on the floating window:



And you're done! All you have to do is sit back and relax, wait for the confirmations to fill, and then check your receiving address if you got the btc.

Some key takeaways:

• Extra layers of security before having a transaction finalized is pretty neat.
• Communication between Mornin Keys and Mixin Messenger and its web app is really, really quick.
• Positioning of some buttons on the web app can be optimized for better readability. It would be a problem for users that have big screens as they would have to look further before proceeding to the next step.
• There are tons of back-and-forth between different apps, so it's better to have two devices if you want your transaction to be as smooth as possible, but it's not a necessity.

Conclusion

If you are just a normal user who occasionally sends or receives bitcoins and YOU'RE NOT running a business, I don't see a point in using Mixin messenger. But, if you're someone who values security and always wants to feel secure with your every transaction, then this is for you. Given that nowadays, there are tons of snooping bots, malware, and other similar software existing that aims to get your crypto from you, Mixin Messenger blocks those attempts and lets you transact in peace.

Lastly, please fix that 'Approve' button, Mixin team.

I'll try not to use too many screenshots - I find reviews harder to read with them. I'll add a few just to confirm that I used the app.

First impressions

To begin with – the tutorials are not doing the product any favors. It’s so hard to understand which app does what and how they are all connected. For instance, I was searching in both apps where to add the safe, only to realize 15 minutes later that I need to use the web browser in order to do that.
So, now we’re already using 2 different apps and a web interface – not something I like. I used Mornin Key to create Mixin Safe, the whole process isn't really intuitive and needs a lot of QR code scannings and approvals. Once set up, the safe is fast and easy to use - but to set it up takes a while.
I feel there should be a video tutorial that would explain the whole process in a few steps - it isn't that complicated once you realize what to do. It's just not currently explained well, which takes away precious time from the users.

Apps/Interfaces individually

Mornin Key – I used the one in the Test environment (iOS) and I found it in quite a good shape. The problem with the app though is the fact that it won’t be free.
The issue is not the 1$ fee that goes with it, but the fact that the payment has to go through my bank credit card (that's how AppStore works) – which interferes with the privacy issues.
The fact that there would be a trace on my credit card would make me never use the app itself.
If there’s an alternative to Mornin Key other than Bitcoin Core/Ledger that can be used on the phone, it needs to be in the tutorials. If there isn’t one, I’d strongly suggest using an app that is free to use and doesn’t leave such traces.
Other than that, the app was working as intended.

Mixin app – I used it on both iOS and Android phones. At first glance looks like a decent wallet - has a lot of cryptos and I like the fact that you can see all past transactions and that you can hide some assets.
Would have liked to see a native swap feature though – there are some wallets that already offer that possibility.
I’ve seen many people say it so I’ll just repeat it – 4-time PIN prompt is an overkill. I’ve never seen it before and I really don’t like it.
The Chat function of the app is a nice addition, for example Revolut has got it and I’m using it there. Shows incoming/outgoing transfers, which offers a quick transactions overview.

   

When transferring the safeBTC the value needs to be shown though - especially when we're dealing with BTC in small values. 0.0004 BTC is 12$ and in the SS above the value is shown as 0. I would have just assumed I added a zero too many.
I did like the fact that a lot of info is available through the bot (that can be added in the tray). Browsing like this is easy, effortless and feels good.

Web interface (safe) - when you actually understand that you have to use it, it looks ok. There's a 2$ fee that has to be paid in order to unlock the safe.



That option unlocks only 1 safe with up to 3 members, so good enough only for testing purposes. It has 1 free transaction, I think that's the withdrawal because I did not pay any fee while withdrawing at the end.

Connecting the safe is easy enough, depositing as well, the owner wallet needs to confirm the safe creation through the Mornin Key app.



Transferring the funds to Owner wallet was easy enough, and once done the transfers are done through the Mixin Wallet - not by transferring BTC but safeBTC though.
I tried withdrawing as well, it was fast and free - which came as a nice surprise. It's probably that 1 free withdrawal that comes with the Standard plan, so not something to take for granted.



Apps/interfaces combined

For crypto adoption to happen, the apps need to be native, easy to use and intuitive. In my experience, it wasn't really a smooth ride - which would make it a horrible one for any crypto beginner. Both apps and the web interface work ok individually, but using them all together creates a '2016-we're just starting' crypto experience.
The fact that the transactions between wallets are feeless is nice, but then again - BTC is converted to safeBTC which means it's not actual BTC. It has its advantages (you can send 'BTC' without a trace), but some big disadvantages as well (you have to trust a 3rd party).

I would have liked for the owner to have a bit less work to do - for example, I don't understand why it isn't implemented that the safe can be created through the mobile app (wallet)?

Conclusion

Using this solution is quite easy once set up properly (for the safe users), but the fact that the service has to be paid for and that it is hard to set it up initially doesn't bode well for its future use.
The competition in this area is fierce, and for example only through the Telegram app I know of 3 better solutions through which you can send multiple cryptocurrencies with low fees to all of your contacts.

It has a really niche use - to be able to handle a multisig wallet on a phone. That's the main problem for me though - if I'm in a need to use a multisig wallet, it's because I have a big amount of BTC in it.
I would not feel good at all holding it in a custodial wallet in safeBTC, I'd want actual BTC in a proven and robust wallet like Electrum.

Considering that it's a custodial solution that lacks privacy, I would not recommend it at all. For simple transactions every wallet on the market is easier to use, for more complex ones a custodial solution will never be good enough.

REVIEW:

Mornin Key-
It is a really good app for protecting keys and account data. The software is open source, so anyone can check out its transparency and decentralization nature for themselves. It is clear from Mornin Key's website that they do not mirror the user's data and the user is also allowed to use his data to any other decryption software he chooses. The fact that Mornin Key supports Arweave is really great news for me, since I'm a huge fan of storing my personal data on the blockchain, so if a user wants to store his or her data to a decentralized storage network for future use, he or she can do so. This is a really nice and useful app with a lot of unique features. I really liked it.

        


Mixin Messengger-
This is a really cool dApp with a lot of essential features that are very useful. The app seems to support buying cryptocurrency using fiat currency, so I think it is all in one app, and you will find everything you need in it: Messaging, fiat to crypto, explorer, deposit/withdraw crypto, transfer crypto P2P, and much more in a single app.

One thing I want to point out is that Mixin does not support Oklink and Heco exchange. In fact, these exchanges do not support Mixin at all, so you should avoid using these networks to deposit your Mixin wallets.

As you may already know, you must use your local phone number to sign up for Mixin Messenger. Therefore, if you somehow lose your phone number, you will automatically lose your messenger and wallet as well. I would strongly recommend that when you sign up to use the service you remember this one thing, use only the phone number to which you have full access, and if you lose that number you have the right to reclaim it. According to what I have seen so far, they support emergency contact by which the user can change his phone number to a new one, even if his old one has been lost.

This feature allows you to add bots to the Messenger, just like Telegram, which makes it very easy to use messenger and do all the tasks. There is a feature that allows you to backup and restore chat to local storage, this will help you transfer chat to other devices and desktops.

            


Mixin Safe-
I discovered that the Mixin Safe provides a higher level of safety compared to a Hardware wallet. With its implementation of multi-signature and timelock technology, it serves as a secure sanctuary for storing your valuable coins. Unlike Hardware wallets, which can be prone to loss or potentially have backdoors like Ledger's recent recovery update, the Mixin Safe embodies the essence of Bitcoin's principle of decentralization.

In the realm of Mixin Safe, a multi-sig system is employed, necessitating the presence of both the owner key (mornin) and the Member Key (mixin website) for any fund withdrawals. Remarkably, the Mixin team solely possesses one key, namely the recovery key. Consequently, even in the unfortunate event of losing your private key or long periods of inactivity, it becomes nearly impossible for the team to access and spend your precious coins. Thus, the Mixin Safe stands as an exemplification of a pure noncustodial multi-signature-based wallet.

        

Summary: So if you are lazy to maintain your keys but want to test the pure decentralization features you could use Mixin Safe & Mornin Key.

I started my Mixin Safe journey by visiting the website https://safe.mixin.zone/ and follow the instruction given including all the tools required to sign up to acquire safe. The image below shown when I try to create an account. This helps new user to download correct apps to avoid downloading fake apps.

Scanning the QR will transfer me to a playstore link which I download my mixin messenger app.

Mixin Messenger

After I download the apps. I open it immediately and the image below prompt. I just notice that the Agree and Continue text is the actual button proceed as way to agree on the ToS. I suggest to just add a tick box for agreeing the ToS instead of making a instruction to click the button to agree and continue.

I register using my phone number and I'm surprised on quick the sms verification code arrived on my message. It only took few seconds before I can receive my code to finish my sign up. I just notice too some error on the welcome message of the Mixin bot because it send duplicate notification as shown on the image below.

the messenger feature is like a telegram app since it supports multiple chats and bots to implement on your messenger. I focus more on the wallet feature since this is what I will be using most of the time. I like the settings of the wallet since you can set different safety feature to protect your asset such as sending notification when send more than your set up trigger amount. This will help you be notified when hacker access your account unknowingly. Same with duplicate and stranger transfer notification features that helps you minimize your risk of losing your funds.

The wallet support multiple currency and chains. This is perfect because it's a non custodial wallet yet it has a feature like a custodial wallet since it's very easy to use and has a versatile feature. I just notice some feature that might make mistake to users.  This involve the BNB coin since there's 2 type chain supported on your wallet while the network name seems similar BEP-20 and BEP-2. I suggest to make it single and just introduce an option to change network instead of adding them as 2 different currency to avoid confusion.

Moving forward on using the messenger to the safe, Everything works smoothly due to the QR function which literally just a quick scan and everything is approved in a flash. Mixin messenger the mixin safe sync properly that makes the whole process easy.

Mornin Key

I pay a dollar just download this on playstore but my payment is worth it because this app is very good to store private keys. I was skeptical on what's its real use but I understand how cool it is when I use this on the mixin safe.

Mornin key is like a cold storage of my private keys. I can create multiple keys and store them using the app with seed phrase before I can access it. It's like a vault for private keys and I feel really safe on using it due to extra layer of security for protection using biometric.

I just want to suggest to include an option to remove the auto lock feature if the was minimize. Because It's very annoying to keep unlocking my mornin key apps whenever I'm trying to check different apps or my mixin safe to verify if my details is correct.

Same with mixin messenger. I don't have problem encountered when I use mornin key app to approve transaction to my mixin safe since the qr works well too.


Mixin Safe

This is the main highlight of my experience, I open mixin safe right after I finish setting mixin messenger since this is the only way to create an account here. The display is very simple which I understand to make all users easy to understand how the safe work. It display chart for your transactions in the safe so that you can track your progress and expenses on your safe.

I go to the safes and create my first by clicking new safe button. I really the like the preview part whenever you are finish on each step so that you can double check your info if correct while progressing on creating your safe. Some services doesn't have this feature that makes user repeat the process or notice the error right after the safe is created.

I pay 2 USD for the premium plan before I can activate 1 safe. I use electrum to pay for the premium fee and everything went well even though my payment from electrum stuck for a couple of hours before it receive confirmation. It's really nice that the payment window has high waiting time to process the payment. This is useful for Bitcoin transaction that typically encounter slow confirmation due to slow network.

I deposit immediately on my safe right after it was activated! My balance is reflected immediately on my account summary and the graph works well to track my balance.

I withdraw the funds to my electrum wallet by the use of Mixin Messenger and Mornin Key to approve my transaction. The whole process of withdrawal just took few seconds since both approval only requires qr scanning to eliminate copy paste error.

The premium plan includes 1 free withdrawal fee transaction. What really amazed me is they are using transaction fee worth 1$ while the suggested fee on mempool for a high priority transaction is just 0.33$ at the time of my transaction. This makes my withdrawal easy to be confirmed and received to my wallet!

Conclusion: Overall experience is smooth because it doesn't need any manual typing or copy paste of code just to interact with this multiple apps. QR code scanning feature makes the process easy to finish without the risk of exposure to clipboard malware.

Mixin Safe Review


I use iPad to install Mixin messenger and Android phone to install the Mornin Key. I capture less screenshot on the process because most the procedure is just very simple and can be explained via text. I only put screenshot on details that I want to emphasize.


Mornin Key

I download this app on playstore using the download link and guide provided on the mixin safe website when I'm on the process of creating safe. Setting up mornin key account is just like the typical crypto wallet which you will have seed phrase for your account recovery. The ability to store multiple keys at the same time is the best use case for this app because you can save multiple keys on a singe place just like a vault. You can switch account easily and all of them supports easy account switch for each keys.

I use Mornin Key twice during the creation of Safe since it's the required app to become owner and to approve withdrawal transaction which both work smoothly without any error or delayed encounter after I scan the QR code.


Mixin Messenger

I encounter a display error on Mixin Messenger on iOS version. The flag for Philippines is not correct. I double check it on android version of Mixin Safe and the flag is correct on android. You can refer on the image below. That is not a Philippines flag.



Moving forward, I create my account using my personal number while I didn't receive the code at first try. I manage to get the code on the second attempt right after the countdown reset.

I add my friend here in the forum as contact to test the messenger feature. I send text and image without a problem although sending image here consume a little bit of time to upload compared to popular messaging up since I upload same image to test the speed for comparison. One thing I really like and I use the most on this app is the convenience to transfer account to different device such as phone or desktop. It only requires QR scan in able to transfer account on other device.


 
I head over to the wallet to test it out. Take note that I'm using both iOS and Android to see the difference. I just notice that the feature to see connected dapps is not available on iOS while it's just the same account on my android. I'm not sure what's the reason behind this but I will leave this question here.



After I inspect both messenger and wallet feature of this app. I use this to be a member on my safe that I created, It only need one scan and everything is reflected on my mixin safe. I approve the withdrawal transaction using this app on my safe without any problem encountered.


Mixin Safe
After I download and setup my account on both mornin key and mixin messenger. I login on mixin safe website using my mixin messenger account by scanning the QR code. My Mixin messenger automatically create an account on mixin safe right after scanning the QR code on the login page.

My first impression on the mixin safe website is it's very neat that makes it very easy to use. The display is not flashy because it only use plain white background but it's ok for me because this makes easy to browse all the feature because everything is display properly without any flashy display as distraction.

The safe needs to be upgrade first before you finish to create your safe. I just hope that this payment option should be display on the first step since the mixin safe website has no other purpose than safe which means user automatically needs to pay before they can use the website feature. This will save time for user in case they want to pay in advance and setup safe later on since Bitcoin transaction sometimes confirm very slow while you can't use the safe while your plan is not upgraded yet. I wait for my transaction to be confirmed first which consume more than an hour just to activate my safe.

The premium plan price is very fair since it offers free withdrawals and the free withdrawal increase on every higher plan.



I made deposit on my safe and safely withdraw it without any error encounter. My safe balance is updated quickly after my deposit receive confirmation. I can withdraw immediately too even my deposit only has 1 confirmation. My withdrawal is confirmed quickly since they are using high transaction fee which is cool for a free withdrawal feature.




Suggestion

Since this is multiple member approval safe and every member need to access the mixin safe website to approve the transaction, I suggest to have a chat feature inside the mixin safe itself so that every party only need to focus on the mixin safe website on communication if they need something to discuss further instead of picking up phone again to open mixin messenger apps to discuss.


Conclusion

Mornin Key, Mixin Messenger and Mixin safe are sync to each other since the QR code scanning works smoothly. I don't encounter any problem or delay on the whole process because the apps and the safe website is very easy to understand.

Downloading And Installing Process:
Prepare Morning Key: The process went smoothly, except that the application is available on the Google Play Store for a fee, which is not understood since the APK file is available for free on the site. I liked that any movement on the application requires entering the PIN code, and that it is not even possible to use the screen image recording feature, and this is good while extracting the seed words in order to save them.
My observation is that the majority trust the Google store and prefer not to use installation files from other sources, no matter how reliable they are.
Set Mixin Messenger: The same for this application, Easy and quick setup process as easy as it is for anyone. The pin settings were also easy, and I changed it several times during the experiment to make sure the settings were correct. I also downloaded the application on the computer, and it was good that it was available on the Microsoft Store as a guarantee of its safety. But, frankly, I did not understand the purpose of this application, if in any case it was necessary to download and install the phone application, and also that all functions can be done using the phone.
My note is regarding registration using mobile number. This method is not favored by the majority, and it will certainly encourage people to abandon its use within the framework of the protection policy to preserve privacy. I would like to ask about these two features that I did not notice their effectiveness after activating each of them. And also to ask about the difference between them.



Sign in Mixin Safe:
The interface is good and clear, and all the elements are well coordinated with a good selection of colors and shades. Navigating between the various options is also smooth and easy.
Before logging in, the first thing that appears is the user guide with instructions on the source and how to download and install the various necessary applications and the process of linking them to each other.
Through the QR Code, the scanning was instant. I was asked to verify my pin and i was able to login to Safe Mixin dashboard interface.
My only note is that on the general settings page, you have to wait for some time before the data appears. I do not know if this is a problem with the system or with communication, because the rest of the pages on the main interface appear without delay. The delay lasts for about ten seconds.

Create A New Safe:
In order to create a new safe, i was asked to upgrade the plan to one from the three plans. This requires making a deposit of a small amount (less than 2 dollars), which was not complicated by using a QR code, nor did it take a long time. After upgrading the plan, I tried to make a new deposit, but I was also asked to make a new upgrade, which requires additional fees. I find the first upgrade should allow for more than one safe (Two at least during the test stage).



It is very important to note that all stages require confirmation using the Morning Key application and that the process is easy by following the recommendations that appear, and therefore its use is easy even for beginners. The experience will become more complicated after doing more than one safe transaction at the same time. Although each new created safe can be distinguished separately and the data of each can be checked clearly.
I was also wondering why the mixin safe app only supports two networks (Bitcoin and Litecoin) although some other major altcoins are widely used such as Ethereum and polygon. Creating new safes with altcoins won't be much complicated than the two existing networks. Does there any issue integrating more networks in your system?


Deposit And Withdraw using Mixin Messenger:
Deposit: I deposited from my Electrum wallet and had to wait for the transaction to get at least 3 confirmations from the network in order for it to appear on the app. There were no problems during the deposit process except that I did not find the address change feature. Personally, I prefer to get a new deposit address every time, and it seems that this is not possible like other multi-currency wallets. Perhaps this can be worked on in the future.

Withdraw: The withdrawal process was also not complicated, but I found that I had to pay a $7 transfer fee for the network, and for Facebook there are options to change that. After that, I verified the withdrawal transaction and found that the fees were transferred to another address. This brought to my mind the question about MixPay if it is a third party app on Mixin Messenger or it's also built by mixin safe team?



Conclusion: We can't deny that this is an easy to use Bitcoin multisig wallet. However, it is also impossible to deny the many complications in using more than one application at the same time, and that there is no substitute for mobile applications, and therefore it is not possible to use all applications on one device. These complications are what can most encourage people not to use, especially since not everyone prefers heavy use of phone applications.
Also, everyone in this campaign used the Mixin Messenger wallet application, since there is a detailed user guide. Therefore, the ratings remain incomplete if the experiment is not done with the rest of the supported wallets. Don't you think of postingguides for Bitcoin Core and Ledger?

Suggestions:I had a smooth experience overall and I hope the project will continue and develop further. So I have some suggestions that may be taken into consideration:
- To install mixin messenger wallet app, i think it's better to use verification using email address and not a phone number. Most people don't prefer share such an info with an anybody especially he is using this service for better privacy measures.
- In upgrading plans, i think it's better to create a popup or a warning message informing user about what should happen if he send more or less the required amount for each plan. During my experience, i didn't understand well the refund option.
- The process is a little bit complicated, especially for a beginner who is not familiar with such plans. You may consider creating video tutorials to make it easy for them.
- The price for the upgrading plan is too low for any of us (as users), but it may not be that profitable for you (as a team). So, you may adjust it to higher rate with more safes that can be done.

Mixin Safe Review

Preparation
Like the instructions on the mixin site, the first step that needs to be done is to install the Mornin Key. I downloaded the morning key in the playstore by paying a fee of IDR 15,000. I can do everything easily

 

After installing the morning key, the next step is to install the messenger mixin. I installed messenger mixin via playstore. I can do all the processes easily, and one of the requirements for registering is entering my phone number. I did that, although to be honest I don't really like this method

To login to the mixin wallet I need to create a password. I did that process and pinned up to 4 times, I think mixins have strong security so pins need to be entered up to 4 times. I honestly love the wallet, the app supports multiple coins. I tried to deposit a small amount of dogecoin here, and it worked fine



Mixin Safe
To access mixin safe, I enter the site address https://safe.mixin.zone. I logged in by scanning the barcode code available on the mixin safe website. When logging in to mixin safe using mixin messenger, in the application there are many permissions that must be approved and in my opinion mixin messenger can spy on all activities in mixin safe. I don't like it, like there is no privacy in it

 

After successfully logging into mixin safe, I'm honestly confused what to do next. I opened one by one the menus on the site and found how to make a safe. I click on the new safe, enter the name and network, then scan the barcode with the morning key, and upgrade by paying a fee as stated on the site.

 

In my opinion, the steps for making mixin safe are quite complicated, especially if it is done by someone who is new to bitcoin. Although, I like the security, the more complicated mechanisms lead me to believe that mixin safe is really safe.

Conclusion
- The process of registering to mixin safe is complicated
- Privacy is questionable, to be honest I prefer Mixin Messenger not spying on Mixin Safe activity
- Although the process is complicated, I'm pretty confident about its safety
- Good configuration between mixin safe and mixin messenger

My Mixin Safe Review

After all these wonderful reviews from the members before me, I have decided not to repeat everything that has already been said and not to turn this review into another step-by-step tutorial on how to install the apps on your smartphone. Instead, I will focus solely on using the Mixin Safe service and its functions. So, in this review I assume that you already have Mixin Messenger and Morning Key applications installed and set up.

What is Mixin Safe?

According to the description on their website, "Mixin Safe is a decentralized asset management platform with the main features of decentralization and support for asset recovery and inheritance, mature technical solution, and affordable price, suitable for large investors, teams, and institutions to manage large amounts of assets." So, in other words, Mixin Safe is like a secure vault in a bank (but digital) where you can take care of your money and valuable assets in a way that's very secure and reliable but also shared with a people you trust, so it's not controlled by just one person. This makes it a good choice for big investors and organizations who want to take care of their assets. Plus, if something goes wrong, you can still get your values back or pass it on to others.

Using Mixin Safe



There are several ways to use the Mixin Safe wallet. I chose to use it with the help of the Morning Key app.

After a short tutorial and a few preparation steps, you will be redirected to the login page.


To log in, use the Mixin Messenger app on your smartphone and scan the QR code.

Which brings us to the Mixin Safe UI:



Creating New Safe

First, we need to choose the name of the safe and choose the cryptocurrency we want to use. Currently, Mixin Safe supports Bitcoin and Litecoin.


In the next few steps, we authorize the owner of the safe and add members / co-signers from our contact list.



Upgrading Mixin Safe

For the purpose of this review, I chose the Standard ($2 per year) upgrade plan and BTC as the payment method.


And in the last step of creating the safe, you need to authorize with your Mornin Key.



And that's how we created our first Mixin Safe!



Depositing funds in Mixin Safe

For depositing funds into Mixin Safe, all you need to do is scan the QR code with your Bitcoin wallet and transfer the funds. The minimum deposit is 0.0001 BTC, and the funds are visible after the first confirmation.



Withdrawing funds from Mixin Safe

Withdrawing funds from the safe is done in several steps.
First, you need to initiate a new transaction and fill in the recipient's address and the amount.



Then, the transaction needs to be approved by the required number of members (depending on the safe's settings).


Finally, in the last step, the owner authorizes the transaction.




And that is it! We have successfully withdrawn the funds from the Mixin Safe to an external wallet. All members receive notifications through the Mixin Messenger app on their smartphones.

Summary and conclusion:

Navigating through the entire process has proven to be somewhat complicated. Honestly, without a step-by-step guide or even a video tutorial, I can see newcomers hitting a few snags along the way. No doubt, the company has really put effort into making sure our funds are super safe in the safe, which is the main thing, after all. But in my opinion, the whole shebang could use a bit of simplifying and streamlining. I get that the software is still in its beta phase, so fingers crossed the final version will be way smoother. Oh, and by the way, the website is great on laptops and desktops, but not so hot on mobile – something they could definitely work on.
