Italy had a poor shooting night whether if it's beyond the arc (18%) or in the paint (30%) while the USA on the other hand are doubling both of their figures.

@casperBGD, congrats, well deserved win. I had similar fears that it might happen and similar scenario like in 2004 repeated - meaningless win against USA and we end without medals. Italy would be better opponent, but we never try to pick our opponent and teams that try to do that - they usually don't end well. Game went completely by our opponents plan, their defense and intensity was awesome. We don't have such pitbull like Bogdanovic who can lead team in difficult moments. And these Jovic 3 pointers killed us completely.

The teams defeating USA in the tournament are always coming across big problems later on. After Greece eliminated USA in the semi finals in 2006 they lost to Spain in the finale by 70-43. Turkey were really down in morale after they lost to USA in a match they had the control of in the 2019 FIBA. After that they said goodbye to the tournament by losing to Czech Republic in the group stage already. I guess the best thing is to lose to USA by a big gap and concentrate on the next match.

but today, all functioning well, and easy win in the end, pretty unexpected

Lol seems like it but honestly Lithuania was just a bad matchup against a very small US team.  They play small ball but got housed on the rebounds against them because of it.  Was a great gameplan from Lithuania, but they are going to hit the same wall against any team that big.  Game against Germany would likely be a dog fight as well.

It was always obvious that Serbia would do fine, Jokic is there, and him alone is good enough to beat other teams at this level, he the best player in the NBA right now, so obviously he will be better than anyone who is not even in the NBA, other sides only have 1-2 players in NBA who are not even that good, Serbia has one that is MVP of the greatest league in the world. All in all I would guess that it is going to be fine, and I think it should be considered that we could make it work one way or another.

This is of course only possible if we are talking about something major, and Jokic injured or something which could be the only reason for them to lose. This gam was fun, big difference, definitely a fun for Serbia.

The Serbians showed a basketball clinic to the Lithuanians. Damn, they are strong.
Unselfishness is one of the key factors on why they won this game. They kept on rotating the ball to find the open man. The good part is all of them have shooting skills so it won't be that hard to find an opening because every player is a threat. The floor is too spread for them and it helps to see who will be open.
This play is one of them.

Valanciunas in early foul trouble has some effects on Lithuania too and Serbia took advantage of that.
Now Serbia is waiting for the Semi-Final and so is the USA.

Germany versus USA at the semis seems to be a good match.

US has made an adjustment in the second half of that game but the lead was huge in the first half that they fell short but nevertheless, it was a good learning experience for them playing against a European team.

These recent game were so unpredictable, Italy beat Serbia while Serbia was blowing out Lithuania for the finals contention while the odds for US vs Italy is so juicy if you are rooting for the Italians to upset the US in the next couple of hours.

It was really unpredictable but sad to say Italy lost to the USA with a Dominant win from start to finish Italy stood no chance against the USA maybe because of the upset they got from Lithuania and surely that match was really a close one for these two teams it was Mickal Bridge and Tyrese Haliburton's effort for the USA to win and Austin Reaves also made a great contribution for this game aswell,

This game already starting but Germany is now leading as I am posting this, With 2 points for this game Germany's only loss was against Slovenia and they did a great job against that team for this game, I am going with the favorite and that is Germany,

Canada VS Slovenia

While Canada also did a great job against each team they faced the only loss they had was against Brazil sure this game I think this could be a very close game as Slovenia has a great player that is Luka Doncic who can surely win the game all by himself but for this game the team play is more important for sure and because the NBA players skills and technique was exposed likely because of NBA for sure Canada have already know what they will do so my pick is Canada,

Yeah, this is something that was unexpected and made a lot of people believe that every team is balanced and can win the World Cup. Truly a good game against China because before the Gilas was having a hard time to beat them and when it's like we're hearing they were opponent, it's already acclaimed that the Gilas is going to lose with a lot of lead from China but this time, Gilas did the opposite still a good win after all.

It was surely unexpected as I also believe that there is a kind of balance in every team and for sure I also believe that bad coaching as well as bad decisions from the coach could surely lead to losing the entire game just like what happened to most of Philippines matches  as for sure many are saying that it was a bad decision, as the players are doing their best to keep the game as close as possible,

Being the coach only for Gilas but not entirely as a coach since there's still PBA (local league).

Oh! I thought he would resign even in the PBA, I thought it was his Coaching career for good, Lack of experience in coaching is what I can say for Coach Chot, for sure he can not make any good decisions when he is under pressure with that last crucial game he surely needed time to think 1st before making any decision as is time is up to essence with every decision he is making,

I will be tailing your bet on this one mate because I think Luka's magic will work here in Manila and to think that this Canadian team is vulnerable i think as their plays rely on talent, most of it were isolations (i might be wrong but that's what I saw).

Anyway, we didn't deserve to win. The coaching was just horrible. How can you let Dennis Schröder play 30 minutes ( the most of all players ) while he is shooting 4/26 (3 of them layups). I mean you can miss shots, but not like this.
We were up 6 or 7 with 2:25 to go, and Schröder shoots a 3 with 14 seconds left on the shot clock. What kind of decision making is this please? And after the rebound and attack of Latvia Schröder gets a technical foul for flopping, 1 more point for Latvia.

As a coach you HAVE TO take him out. Bench him the whole 4th quarter. This was just terrible. With a similar performance on Friday we will lose by 40 against the USA.

Germany had some bad executions as they almost allowed Latvia to come back and beat them. They were in control with a double-digit lead, but they allowed a barrage of three-point shooting from their opponent, resulting in a comeback.

Speaking of Schröder, he may have had a bad game, but in most of the games they've won, I believe he was the real MVP. So, that's okay, mate. I know the coaching staff will learn from that. What's important is they still got the win. Just forget and improve; that's the best thing to do.
