I am not sure that finding a high-paying job can be an alternative here, some people will just gamble even more. People can replace gambling with many other activities, but before finding an alternative people need to wish for some changes first. If someone doesn't wish to change their gambling habit nothing can help I am afraid.

So there's only one possible measure, a real wish for something other than gambling... instead of spending your money in a casino spend it on something else. Simple as that.

It's not an effective way to many, but it can help a few, if you're in a country where gambling is legal and there are sponsorships you're likely to get curious to bet online, there are a lot of ways to get you to gamble online like you get an invite from a friend or you happen to see a banner while you are out about gambling site that offers bonus.

The best way to combat addiction is to deal it within your character and if you're into a lot of things like you have a hobby where you spend most of your time or you are studying and you are dedicated to your goal, your dopamine is concentrated on what you're currently doing that gambling ha sno place on it, so even if there are gambling ads pops up you can deal with it.

Yes. I think that everyone's situation is different and depends on the individual and the circumstances they find themselves in. I agree that many (most) gamblers are attracted by the potential for easy money, and I believe that individuals who struggle with their financials are generally more susceptible to falling into the trap of gambling addiction, but that's not the only reason imho.
For example, to escape from everyday monotony or stress, to experience the thrill of risk-taking, or even as a way to cope with some psychological issues. So there can be various underlying factors driving someone towards gambling.

I have seen several topics here and other discussion thread where many people talked about gambling addiction. So many procedures been stated to follow sequentially to reduce the rate at which one frequently visit online gambling sites and possibly their application if they do have any of them.

I remember in one of the threads I raised up a point which was long hidden as the thread became too numerous and lengthy to continue the conversation on that topic. It was my opinion to add up in profering solutions to gambling addiction. I believe not too many people saw it to to say something about it so that is why I had to bring it up as a topic hear. I want to hear your opinion and ideas towards it.

Well then by your very own logic the entire bitcointalk website should be avoided? Or all the avatars and signatures should be turned off? That would look quite boring, to be honest. 

The real problem are not advertisements but the lack of discipline with which people like to throw their money around. Do not bet more than you can afford to lose. That is a very simple-to-follow formula for avoiding addiction. Furthermore you can add your own rules, like: Do not bet more than X times a week/month.

But people ignore their own rules and do what they want. Then they end up losing their entire life's savings and blaming it on gambling instead of blaming themselves.

I believe that the majority of gamblers are not that undisciplined.

What about a crypto wallet or centralized exchange that promoting gambling ads? your intention isn't want to gamble, but you're need to accept the fact you will see any gambling ads in everywhere. Installing ads block will not work, after all self control and committing to stop gamble are the best way.

My understanding is to do browser settings and disable gambling sites, not fully successful in overcoming gambling addiction,  someone is already obsessed with gambling many factors and things to consider, the browser I think step at the very bottom, if you want to overcome addiction.

I believe if the users who are here, of course who have accounts advertising gambling sites, deactivate the browser I think it won't work, because they still see the crypto gambling sites they advertise here every day, I think the steps you are talking about are suitable for those who don't have a BTT account here, maybe it makes sense to overcome addiction, but for those who have a BTT account here it seems difficult to make settings in the browser to overcome addiction.

I have seen a suggestion like this more than a couple of times, and to be honest with you, i see nothing special about it, forgive me but don't understand my opinion the wrong way, its a good suggestion really, but why i said its not special is because, it is not something that will work for every addicted gambler that applies it, and need i say that it can only work for a very limited few, and that few must be people who are not really really deep in gambling addiction, for those who are chronic addicts, this can not work, they can block the sites and so on, but trust me, when the urge comes, they will come back and unblock what ever site they have previously blocked and carry out their gambling activity like they always do.

This advertisements are unavoidable, even if you block casino advertisement on your browser, there is still a chance to see it pop up elsewhere on your phone or when you use another app with internet connection that is not your browser. These days some of these apps allow advertisements on them as a way for them to make extra.

Serious addicted gamblers lack discipline in general, even if they disable access to gambling sites, and they do it themselves, In serious cases where they really feel like to gamble, they can still enable the access easily, to satisfy that urge.

We can prevent gambling addiction if we ourselves know what we are doing when we enter a gambling game. It's only a problem when a gambler experiences the temptation of winning at an online casino.

Absolutely, you are correct  keeping in touch with friends, family, loved ones would definitely help alot and also going out at will to catch fun other than that would  help but doing away with your gadget most times is difficult most when you are mostly a Tech guy constantly online doing your job would definitely  put you up for it but of one can take a step to disabling the site from their browser and adds I think it would go along way to help mitigate the gambling addiction.

Gambling sites are easily accessible, that's one of the drivers that many people become fond of gambling, it doesn't matter actually as long as it's with limits, but what happens is that they don't know the limits so it makes it difficult for them.
Now, who doesn't have a cell phone? Even children have their own cell phones, and once they have it in their hands, they will find out things that they didn't know before, including gambling sites.
Advertising is also the same, this is my experience, that every time I open social media, or anything related to the internet, I will definitely find promotions.

I think this is a good idea in the short term but in the long term it will not unless the individual itself isn't updating those settings regularly. Remember, gambling addiction even without ads will still become possible and it will not the full proof solution, it may be a good prevention but I think gambling addiction knows no bounds unless the individual itself knows how to control themselves.

I think this is a good idea in the short term but in the long term it will not unless the individual itself isn't updating those settings regularly. Remember, gambling addiction even without ads will still become possible and it will not the full proof solution, it may be a good prevention but I think gambling addiction knows no bounds unless the individual itself knows how to control themselves.

A simple solution to this is using ad blocker if you are concerned about advertisements by casino but I don't think it's that much effective if a gambler is really addicted. I know thst making the casino appear in front of your face is tempting knowing that you want to change or get rid of the addiction but yeah, it's not a full proof solution. At the end of the day, it will still end up on the self control of the gambler. Blocking casino is a good help but I think other support to help a gambler stop doing gambling is necessary.

How that will work? I mean can we disable specific types of ads on the browser? I don't know I've never done that. Moreover, even if someone does that what are the chances that they will follow the blockade and not go beyond the firewall and reopen the casino sites or their ads one more time? I mean it's really funny because if we are talking about the gambling addict then they will definitely go crazy and will leave behind their limits too. That's what Gambling addiction is, to be frank. If someone got addicted then there is only one hope and that is counseling, having chats with family, or else having another hobby that will take over the urge to gamble and might give new hope to the person. Or else, whenever we are starting with gambling then one should have proper accounting, and proper ethics of gambling. There is no way anyone could help if addiction is imminent.

I think it is going to work for some people, but not every gambler. Perhaps I want to ask you if there are really any settings on browsers that can allow you to disable gambling sites on your phone. If it does exist, I believe it can also be easily disabled, so believe me, if a gambler is really such an addict, that is not going to stop them. There was this guy; his parents did all manner of things to him just to get him to stop gambling, but unfortunately, he never stopped. Gambling addiction started with one's agreement to allow themselves to get controlled by what they started with their own hands, so shall the person stop it too, with their own agreement to discipline themselves and come up with every possible idea that they think can work for them. Some people can even decide to go without a phone for some period of time, while others can take another approach. What matters is the one that can work for them.

If you think that this is a good way to stop gambling addiction, it therefore means you think that gambling addiction is a joke and not a serious matter or you think that addicts are just kids who clamour for something only when they see it.
By suggesting to disable ads, you meant that as often as addicts see anything related to gambling, they will want to gamble. This is not the reality.
Stopping to gamble is just like a decision. So, it is made from the inward and accompanied by discipline. It is when one remembers the reason they decided to stop gambling, maybe family, wife, religion or something dear to him, they will stop to gamble and not by what they see.
