As someone who is involved in the world of agriculture because several of my family are farmers, I admit that every year farmers complain more and more about crop yields and selling prices that are no longer balanced. I mean the selling price of grain every year does not increase significantly, while the price of basic commodities every year increases little by little due to inflation. Or as my brother @uruhara said, reduced quantity and volume like the "Mie Sukses" you told us about.
During the harvest season, prices tend to fall. I think this needs government intervention to control prices. Or at least provide subsidies for fertilizers and pesticides so that farmers can still survive by selling their agricultural products at prices that seem stuck there every year.

Yeah I know what is going on with agribusiness, usually, big companies buy the crop at the futures contract means that no matter how expensive the fertilizers and pesticides or what happens in the nature they set the price early so farmers will earn less.

Government and big companies should discuss about this and figure it out the solution

There are some also that kind of don't make the prices go up, like they will say to the farmers that this is really the price in the market, and again, the farmer has no choice because their crop can't be sold if they won't accept the price. Just imagine in the news and on social media a lot of farmers that will not accept the price of the buyer, so they tend to throw it out just to inform everyone that the price is too low. It is almost the same as not selling it as they can't get enough money. Famers are really in a difficult situation, so the government should control this.

This is true and is a problem in the country where I live, a lot of farmers are facing such a problem. For example, there are farmers who need to sell their crops to businessmen who will distribute or sell their crops to the city, and these businessmen will tell them such a low price that farmers will have no choice but to sell it at such ridiculous price or let their crops deteriorate or spoil, basically losing a lot of money. And with how much their tools and chemicals cost, they are losing more money than they are earning every day. So, I do agree with you that the government should take a look at this and do something about it. It is heartbreaking that farmers who are working to provide food for a whole nation are struggling to earn money they need to feed their own family.

Right now, I've seen a lot of farmers venturing to cities to work like construction workers because they can earn more and sometimes food is free if they have a good employer, and with that, they can earn on a daily basis, unlike when planting a crop, where they are not sure if they can earn a profit for a few months. It is really sad, and even for myself, I always buy at the farmers market and do not try to bargain because I see their struggle. They become the planter and also the seller because that is where they can earn a profit. I really do hope that even just a subsidy to them will greatly help them because if this does not stop or slow down, for sure, farmers won't plant and all of us will struggle.

You know it’s odd to see basic necessities if they have been decreasing their prices, surely their prices are bound to increase especially that inflation may be here for good. And food prices are certainly the most concern of the citizens today most particularly in my country where rice price has been extremely rising so bad. Good thing news came out lately that our head of the country has ordered a minimum price set for well-milled rice. Hopefully this will not be the last price adjustment for our food price.

This is the biggest problem right now in my country. We have high inflation, everything is getting more expensive day by day but the increase in food prices is the most challenging situation for the people. We have other economic problems like house rents, electricity etc.
In general food prices are going up in the world but it hits harder for developing countries. I don't think this will change anytime soon.

I think that everything is known in comparison, and if, for example, a resident of Berlin says that he barely has enough for food, then he may mean that he does not buy expensive cheese, or half-cooked food from a restaurant to which he is used. While an African who says that he barely has enough for food will mean that he will refuse meat, and will have to not eat some vegetables, only porridge.
Therefore, we all suffer from inflation at this difficult time. In my country, everything has risen in price by about 25% over the past year and a half, and this is terrible, because wages at workplaces have changed only by 5%.
All of us should now be more careful with money, giving up excesses, try to take care of clothes and things.
In my country, food prices have risen in price by an average of 40%, according to my estimate. There are products that have risen in price by 100%, such as fish and other seafood. I lived on the seashore on vacation in my country, and fish is more expensive than meat there. Bread and pasta prices have not risen much, but there is also a noticeable increase in prices for vegetables and fruits, despite the fact that now is the vegetable season.

I have found the answer to why some food products are very expensive, despite the fact that they are grown or mined in my own country.

The fact is that if potatoes are grown in your country, for example, and they are of very good quality, then the owners of the agricultural business will not sell it to you in the store cheap. Firstly, they will sell it for export abroad, where this product is not of such high quality. And they will deliver it to stores in their own country at a very expensive price. At the same time, there will be similar cheap goods in stores, but they will be of poor quality, most likely imported from another country. Where this product is not tasty and not so high-quality. In my country, this applies to potatoes, tomatoes, wood, flax and other products and materials.

And this is an sad situation created by the capitalist thinking of people.

I really hope that there will be more price adjustments. There is already food shortage to deal with, with the price of necessities going up I don't know how below minimum wage workers will be able to survive. I work an above minimum wage job but I still struggle to keep up with my budget and is barely saving any for my future and for investments. Hopefully, if more price adjustments happen we can all find a way to adjust and make most of our income.

I hope that there will be a gradual decrease in the price of people's basic goods, which are the foods that people really need on a daily basis. And as you said, I think we have the same country because right now the price of rice is really quite high. But our government is working on ways to ease the burden on consumers of prime commodities.

Then the increase in crude oil went hand in hand; what's happening right now is really bad. I'm also having trouble budgeting my money to fit it in because of the prices of the goods. Since there is nothing we can do to stop the love of goods, the only thing we really need is to think of or create another source of income to cover our daily expenses.

Everything starting from and after the covid has gone up. All services, all goods, all bills and necessities didn't escaped from the domino impact of that global problem that we've faced.

and the government of the country is not saying or doing anything about it.. I have a fear, if this continues like this, I wonder what will happen in this country.
Many will flee and move to another country if your countrymen can no longer take the heat of inflation and increase for the cost of everything. While only the rich people can only enjoy everything during this problem, it's sad that small people and those that are in the poverty threshold are the ones that will have to suffer.

Everything does, in fact, get more expensive, whether it's the cost of basic necessities or the challenges of sticking to a budget. The unstable character of fiat economies is highlighted by the current scenario. Ever considered using Bitcoin as a hedge? The decentralized economy provides some protection from the usual market fluctuations. Despite its swings, Bitcoin offers a fascinating option to hold money due to its deflationary nature

And keep in mind that, despite their best efforts, governments have little control over factors affecting the global economy, such as increases in the price of crude oil. Perhaps switching a portion of your financial holdings to Bitcoin could offer a different source of income? As you correctly pointed out, finding additional sources of income is essential; looking into investing in Bitcoin would be a good idea

I guess that this problem is almost on every country even on the first world countries. We're also suffering from the high inflation and we're dealing on it everyday. As much as I want to buy everything based on the set budget weekly, it doesn't cover everything anymore with our food that we're used to purchase. And those times were like our shopping carts were full but these days, it is no longer full anymore and it's not even half. A lot has changed from the pandemic and going with the war, up to oil price increases, it's not just so right anymore.
This is happening all around the world. Even the Europeans were suffering much out of the rise in the food price. NGO and social service communities have organised food/vegetables/fruits stalls in which people can go get there necessary things free of cost. This is being supplied on weekly based based on the availability of food/vegetables/fruits. Big number of people around Europe is fulfilling their food needs through these stalls. Hope scenario will change to the past days when people were able to fulfill their food requirements without spending much.
There have been those type of activities and pantry's in my country before and during the time of covid, there are still some of it but no longer taken into the media because of how price of everything is rising up. I also hope that this will really change everything and things will be back neutrally. If it's not for these big sources of our needs, coming from oil, ingredients and other food sources, things won't be up. There should be a consensus globally in ending this inflation but no way, some one or some groups are taking the benefits of this so they won't allow that to happen.

Commodity prices have increased in every country. Ours country is no exception.  In my country too, the price of everything, especially the price of food products, has increased a lot. And it has almost doubled. After the corona epidemic, the price of goods started to increase, then the war between Russia and Ukraine has increased the price of everything.  Depreciation of money is also one of the reasons. Again, the whole world is not going towards the Great Depression, is it?

the increase of food stuff in my country is not something to write home about. for over 3 years now after the COVID. the price of food stuffs increase *2 of the initial price which is given the citizens problem to feed themselves. and the government of the country is not saying or doing anything about it.. I have a fear, if this continues like this, I wonder what will happen in this country.
Basically, the root of the country's economic problems is inflation, which causes prices to rise. This is where the role of a country is to overcome this challenge. I am sure the government in your country has done something to overcome it, perhaps currently it is not effective in overcoming it.

Price rises and falls definitely occur due to several factors, such as natural, technical and non-technical factors that we cannot predict when they come and go, as you said, Covid three years ago was an unexpected problem. Therefore, we as citizens must be ready to face and adapt to the existing situation until everything returns to stability, in this case it must be accompanied by government assistance. It seems there is no need to panic, because in the next few years the food situation will be fine, feeling worried is normal but the solution to the problem is more important.

We are heading there but dont rush because it would be on gradual process. Isnt it?  Grin

Sad to say but its really that inevitable on avoiding on something which cant really be avoided and this is why instead on whining and stressing up yourself even more then it would be more ideal that you should
be finding ways or methods on making yourself able to survive which is on having that more income source so that you wont really be having some problems on the time that the economic situations gotten more
worst on which it is really that something that you should prioritize on trying out to build or establish while things arent really that still bad.

Everything is really that increasing, we arent that blind with those numbers on which trying out to compare those prices 20 years ago is never been the same
on what we do have now on which it would really be just that normal or something a normal approach on having other income source.

Since August in my country, the price of food, especially food staples such as wheat, rice and others, has experienced a very high price increase. This was apparently caused by the ongoing drought. Which makes several areas of plantations and rice fields fail to harvest due to lack of availability of water to water the plants. And this makes food stocks in the market start to run low from time to time. And yes, the price hike ensued. Rice prices here have even increased by around 9-10 percent in the last month in my area. And I'm afraid the increase will continue. Because many residents are starting to talk that if the drought continues longer then it is feared that the increase will occur higher and faster. For farmers, it can be said that currently they are getting big profits because they can sell agricultural products at high prices. but for ordinary citizens who do not have agricultural land, the current food prices really make them tight.

The residents' economic sector has actually begun to recover and improve in the past few months. But because at this time there was another spike in prices again, it made the people around me start to complain again about the current economy.

But I was wondering if this only happened in my country or in your country too?

It seems like food prices have shot up all over the world, there's even a distinction between the cheapest food and eating out. Prices in shops have gone up for the most basic ingredients like bread, milk, fruit and veg. What I noticed the other day, which is admittedly a luxury for some, but prices have also gone up in restaurants quite substantially - maybe even 50-100% just in the space of a couple years. It's a bit of a dangerous spiral, because unless it steadies you can end up with ever increasingly inflation which many people in developed countries have not experienced before. It makes it very hard to gauge good prices and hopefully things like an acceptable resolution to the Ukraine war will take a bit of pressure off.

Most of us are affected for sure it is just salary varies in each country which lessen and strengthen how we would be affected by it.

I though I was the only one thibking that the number of population has something to do with the increase in marketable goods. There is now a shortage with resources simply because population keeps on growing, not to mention capitalism, corruption, and regulations in world trade industry, which adds with the burden. Agricultural resources may indeed be supported to lower the ceiling of our daily needs but problem is with regulation; both producers and consumers are struggling which is an obvioys proof that there is something wrong happening especially with third world countries.

Am I the only one perplexed by the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on food prices in my country? Thus far, there hasn't been a significant price surge attributable to the conflict between these two nations.

While vegetable and spice prices have seen an increase, the logical explanation is an extended drought that has hindered farmers from achieving optimal yields. As for other animal-derived necessities like milk, eggs, and meat, they have remained relatively stable.

However, I've also been keeping an eye on global news, where in other countries, the prices of corn and legumes have skyrocketed, with the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict cited as the cause. Does this conflict only affect select nations?

The increase of the price of food is as a result of many factors from longtime ago, it is just getting worse as the days goes by, the increase of the price of food is now a serious problem for low and middle class people. I think this increase in price of food started during the time if the pandemic and nothing was done then to stabilize the price and other economic problems after pandemic has also contributed to the price of food till this moment.  This is a serious problem that seems so difficult for the government to help about costly price of food .

If I get everything normally it would not cost around 3000Pesos worth of groceries. I mean it's a big problem for sure even the price of rice in my country is a big problem, it just continues to increase its price, and the export of rice is already increasing to the point where local farmers' rice is going to cost more than the import one. Which is a bad thing for the economy of my country.

In my opinion, these things are just inevitable and we cant really do anything about it what we can do is adjust that, What I think people really need here in multiple sources of income, I've realized the importance of having multiple sources of income and having that is wants going to make you successful.

Kabayan, it's really noticeable especially if you're the one who's doing the groceries. Like me, I'm always on a weekly budget for my groceries and the inflation is really hitting my pockets deeply because price has always been increasing. Usually, my family's groceries are just around 1500 pesos or typically $30 or so and that's already a lot before. But this time, truly a lot changed and those are just like a few items that you can count on. It's hard to deal with this inflation and we're hoping that our government will be able to do something to lessen the prices and still won't hurt the business sector just as the consumers.

Here in our country, products are very expensive,  what used to be a kilo of chicken here was 3 dollars per kilo before, now it is 3.7 dollars in the market or grocery, and the price of vegetables has also increased. All consumers are price-sensitive. As time passes, the price of goods always goes up and never goes down. So it will be very difficult to survive if we don't find a way to find another way to earn money. There can't be only one source of income,  instead, we should have at least three sources of income so that we can somehow survive.

Like your country, our country also has the same situation. The price has increased a lot. Prices of everything are sky high.Prices have increased very little in your country. If the price of chicken has increased from 3 dollars to 3.7 dollars, then your inflation is still low compared to our country. In our country, the value of the dollar has also become very high, and the value of our currency against the dollar is falling day by day.

The main reason for this is that there is instability in our country - our military is not allowing any political government to function, and it is trying to run its own decisions and systems, which has led to a lot of insecurity and misery in the country. The price of each product has increased three to four times compared to a few years ago. If something was worth $10, it is now worth more than $30. The prices of all the daily necessities have gone up so much that a common man is having a very difficult time. Electricity has become so expensive that people are paying the bills by selling household items. In these circumstances, it is very difficult to find another source of income, because the economic condition of the country is very bad.
