alternative to coinomi (android)

Following LoyceV topic (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5464936.msg62764298#msg62764298), I discovered that coinomi project is abandoned. Sadly he closed his topic and I neeed to open a new one.

I use coinomi since 2017 for  bitcoin, stablecoins and some altcoins when needed. I know it is not safe but I try to keep at most 500 usd there. I like to have crypto in my phone .

As coinomi project is abandoned, not receiving  updates for more than a year, I am looking for a similar multicurrency wallet, for android mobile.

Any suggestions? I don't want to use trust wallet as it is owned by binance.

I also recommend Unstoppable. If you want something open source, that works for storing alts. Alternatively, and if you don't mind the wallets being closed source, Exodus might be a good choice. They have desktop, mobile apps and also an extension.

I installed Unstoppable Wallet on mobile, as it comes highly recommended.
The first impression was disappointing though: it shows 4 shitcoins by default, and Tor wasn't enabled. So the default settings need instant changing.
They're also a NFT link on the screen, and unfortunately I can't find how to get rid of it.

Other than that, it seems okay.

I am not into NFT and I did not almost notice the NFT. I do not know how it even works.

It does not support TOR by default and most wallets does not. You can go to settings to enable Tor and it works as usual.

Unstoppable is not for bitcoin. It is  supporting bitcoin but people using bitcoin wallet can not use it because it is a shit bitcoin wallet. It is made for shitcoins.

I am with bitmover, in the fact that I use coinomi but never have any real funds in there.

If someone wants my $25 in LTC and $20 in Doge and $20 (ish) in ETH and the other $50 in tokens. Have at it. I have probably saved more then that value in time not having to deal with 3 wallets every time I swapped phones.

I am really surprised that nobody has tried to make a good muticoin wallet. They all seem to get to some point and then go 'meh, good enough'

I used Coinomi for a while and I knew it support signing message and customizing fee, but I did not see it having coin control, I have it on mobile device. Probably it would be the desktop device that has coin control because I have not seen it there before on mobile. It is a close source wallet.

Coinomi is supporting all bitcoin address format until P2TR was activated. It is not supporting P2TR.

Unstoppable wallet support legacy, nested segwit, native segwit and P2TR bitcoin addresses.

You can use it to customize fee.

Separate your bitcoin wallet from those altcoins because there is not better wallets like those wallet that support bitcoin only like Electrum, Sparrow, Bluewallet. Coinomi even lacks many things that these wallets supports.

Added to this,  their fee estimation is pretty vague so you can't estimate the actual fee without looking into https://mempool.space/ like site.



You can't see all the addresses until the created one atleast get a successful transaction.

So as said its good wallet for multiple coins but definitely not the one for Bitcoin.

I have not used it before for bitcoin. The last time I used Electrum wallet because the wallet do not have RBF. I could have used the wallet but the RBF it does not have for bitcoin will not let me use it. Even if I am using Electrum, I still use jochen-hoenicke.de or mempool.space for fee. There can be a good wallet that do not estimate the fee accurately too.

If you send to the wallet, the address will change to another one but you can not see all the addresses, that is true.

It is a good wallet for many coins but not also supporting many coins like that. There are many coins that it is not supporting and it is support just only the peg of some coins like doge. If you want me to begin, I can name many coins it is not supporting but I like it because it is open source.

Don't use Trust wallet or any other similar closed source wallets, but don't expect to find perfect replacement for Coinomi wallet, especially not for mobile devices.

Best option I found so far is Unstoppable.money open source wallet, that has Tor support and support for Bitcoin and few shitcoins.
Another alternative you can try is Komodo Wallet (ex AtomicDEX) that can serve as wallet and atomic swap exchange.
There are few more wallets I tried but they are either in early stages of development or just bad so I won't mention them.
Safest option is probably hardware wallets like Bitbox, Trezor, Keystone, Onekey.

Not only the Unstoppable Wallet is recommended by the community members for altcoins, but it is also recommended by Theymos here.

If you have a large variety of different crypto assets that you need to store, there's Unstoppable wallet.

So, I guess everyone should use the open source unstoppable wallet and abandon the use of the closed source Trust wallet.
For bitcoin, I personally use the Electrum wallet and also recommend it to everyone.

One thing to keep in mind: when enabling Tor and "More Private" sources, syncing the wallet takes a lot longer and consumes quite a bit of data.

After playing with it's settings a bit, the one thing I really dislike is asking for my PIN when I open the app. I'd like to only enter the PIN when I make a transaction. I guess I'll go without PIN, I only use shitcoins for very small quick payments.

It does on the other hand support many centralized coins. There's nothing "unstoppable" about that.

OT, and no I'm not going to do it or even try to find people to do it.
But, does anyone think having an open source but PAID multicoin wallet would work.

There are expenses in keeping development running.
There are expenses in keeping the back end servers running.

And so on. If 10% of the 1 million plus people that downloaded coinomi put in $1 they would have generated $100000 for development & upkeep.
Not a lot but enough to possibly keep it going better then it has.


Personally I have a dozen little things that I would like to work on. But since they do consume time and generate $0 money they are the last thing on the list to get done so they never get done. If I could even envision a way to generate a little money I could justify pulling some $ out of pocket to pay someone in the hopes that it might make money. But since I KNOW the potential profit is $0 they are free time things....

Coinomi had some revenue. They used to have integrated swaps such as Changelly and other third party services. They probably received some money from they.

Some coins payed to be listed, and so on.

Usually, apps create a paid version with more features, or without ads. So I guess that's what works for most users.

With Bitcoin related programs, I'm more used to seeing as subtle donation link once in a while. Even if users don't pay, as long as they use it they can contribute by recommending it to others.

It's just sad because coinomi, which has been around for a long time in the crypto space, we just hear that it has been neglected, I used to use it too. Maybe I'll just give suggestions and it's up to you to choose what you think is okay from what I'll mention dude.

And Jaxx Liberty is one of them, so far I haven't heard of any serious issues with this non-custodial wallet.

As for Zengo wallet, like Jaxx, I've only known minor issues with it, and I haven't heard of any serious issues.
