I’ve read that Panathinaikos and Hapoel Tel Aviv are interested in Russell Westbrook, who is currently a free agent.
He hasn't received any offers from NBA teams at the moment. He will either start the season without a team or head to Europe. Given his current form, he could make a significant impact in the EuroLeague; whichever team signs him would instantly become a top contender for the title. I hope he doesn't join either of the two teams I mentioned, though. Panathinaikos has already assembled a very strong roster—I can't even imagine them adding Westbrook to the mix.

Hapoel Tel Aviv was interested in Westbrook in the past as well but he clearly stated he wouldn't think of leaving the country. His priority would be to stay in NBA. If there is no offer to come then he would rather retire I think. 

It would have been really nice to watch him in the Euroleague though. He might be nearly 38 years old but he would have much better stats in Europe compared to his recent stats in NBA I bet.

Asvel should honestly be removed from the euroleague. They never had any results just a bottom league team that everyone beats and its not intresting with them in the league and with the lower budget we can expect the same result from them in this season of euroleague as well.

Pao for me is the main favorite to win. They just got a power house,the best players and the best coach and i think if they all sync they will be unbeatable. Pao is wasting too much money and got the best roster so far.

How can ASVEL even still finance their Euroleague years? I mean they have been one of the worst teams of the organization for a long time. I don't even remember the last time they qualified for playoffs if they did.

They are always around the last position or a little above that. About the odds I can say 7.00 looks really great for Fenerbahçe.

Maybe I might try my luck with my team for the next Euroleague title.

This situation doesn't seem normal to me either. The EuroLeague administration needs to investigate this. Planning a budget of 59 million euros and then suddenly cutting it to the 30-million-euro level makes no sense at all. Many players they had agreements with have become free agents. Nick Weiler-Babb is being linked to our team; I watched him play for Anadolu Efes last year and really liked him as a player. I hope he joins our team.

How do you find Anadolu Efes' roster for next Euroleague season? They have been making huge changes in the roster as you must have noticed. They are reorganizing the whole team.

I guess at least half of the roster has been replaced with new players so far. Collin Malcolm is the last arrival to increase depth among forwards. But truthfully I'm not expecting them to start playing like in the old times so soon.

Laso has a lot of work to do. I hope they don't fire him in the middle of the season in case things don't go great. He needs time for making things run smoothly.

When team depends on one rich guy, it's not sustainable model because problems begins when owner's business start to struggle. Yeah, now they got new investors, but seems that there is still lot of questions about their budget.

I have read this about them recently:

AS Monaco are expected to receive approval to compete in the 2026-27 Betclic Elite after finalizing a takeover plan led by former NBA All-Star Jamal Mashburn, according to L’Équipe.

The reigning French champions reportedly submitted the required €7 million bank guarantee, with their budget expected to drop from over €38 million to around €12.5 million

They are actually expected to be approved for the 26/27 season in the LNB Elite. They are only waiting on the takeover by Helen Holding to be completed.

It's nice to hear about it. They already said goodbye to Euroleague for some years because of financial condition. By the way that's really a huge drop in their budget despite having new owners now.

I think so too. It is beneficial for a team owner to come from that specific sport; however, when a wealthy individual with other business interests buys a team—especially one without a large fan base—the team could go bankrupt if the owner's other businesses run into trouble.

There are many examples of this in football. A similar situation could have occurred with Monaco in basketball. As you mentioned, France is a successful country in basketball, yet its teams—particularly in the EuroLeague—often underperform. ASVEL showed promise for the upcoming season, but then, for some reason, they reverted to their previous form.

Monaco played in the EuroLeague Final Four two years ago and lost to Fenerbahçe, but they are not in the EuroLeague this season.
I suppose it isn't easy to find high-budget sponsors for basketball.

For instance, if PSG were to establish a basketball team in France, they would likely invest a significant amount of money.

After the horrible management and the choice of Kokoskov, this year things are getting better. Efes had the old general manager back, he is much better than last year's guy. Getting rid of Larkin was a great move and Efes didn't have to pay extra. Signings of Loyd and Kai Jones were great. The transfers are not bad in my opinion. Mike James seems like he is quite motivated. And coach Laso is a good bet, he might show his worth this year. I am expecting great things from Saric as well. Efes might surprise quite a lot of people and make it to playoffs and even to final four if things go their way.

I think Anadolu Efes did a really good work with reuniting Jordan Loyd and Mike James. They can have a really good chemistry there.

They are both old maybe but still experienced players. I find their current roster better than last season's. I think they won't have a this bad season in Euroleague next time.

Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş also have made big improvements in their rosters. I expect at least 2 Turkish teams to be competitive for playoffs and I hope Fenerbahçe will fight for the title.

Yeah, that's what happens if you try to fly to close to the sun. We have seen that with several teams over the years, in different leagues. Even my home town team (without going into detail) went through this. Spending money they didn't really have, then getting issues with playing their players and jeopardizing the license for the next season. In every case the management is the one to get the blame obviously.
Some people will  never learn so it seems.

The players were right to do so of course. Monaco has been managed horrible during the last years. They still reached a Euroleague finale meanwhile but last season didn't go great for them because of these financial problems.

If they didn't find new people to invest in this team they wouldn't even be able to play in the French league next season. How can you be this bad with the management of a team? They deserve better executives.

At one point, there were reports that Banchi would replace Laso, but sticking with Laso turned out to be a smart choice.
Letting a coach like Laso go after just one year wouldn't have made any sense.
Efes is trying to build a strong team; in my opinion, they are attempting a rebuild. Shane leaving the team was a good thing for Efes. I don't know much about Malcolm, the latest addition, but while Efes has a solid roster, I really don't think this squad will make it to the Final Four.

As far as the information i have is that the Monaco owner wanted to sell the team,but there werent any buyers for the club so then everything went sideways from them. Its like the owner is tired of investing into a team and not getting much back. European basketball isnt like NBA to be so profitable,because in the euroleague most of the clubs arent profitable at all so i think this is where the financial problems came from. I wonder what will happen to Monaco things arent looking great for them at all.

There’s been an interesting transfer in the Israeli league. Hapoel Tel Aviv have signed Tamir Blatt, who left Maccabi, on a three-year contract. Maccabi Tel Aviv had also signed Yam Madar, who left Hapoel. So it’s been something of a swap between these two teams. I think Tamir Blatt is a good player; I like his style of basketball. He’ll now be playing alongside Oturu and Elijah Bryant. If we put political issues aside, I don’t think Hapoel’s squad is too bad. They might do better this year than last. I wish this thing of playing in other cities would come to an end, but I also wish the fans don’t cause any trouble.
