I thought Fenerbahçe would sign Petrusev, but he ended up transferring to Dubai Basket. Olympiacos is said to earn $1 million from this transfer. We'll find out when the official announcement comes.
Honestly, I expected the same with you. Probably Saras and the management wait for another player with different skills and abilities. Another thing is the money, cause Dubai spends more than others, and maybe Petrusev is from the ones who look at what gets in their pocket first and then for the game itself. Btw, Monaco's GM said that Theis is very happy being a player of theirs, but it seems that he has another opinion about it... Can't blame him to look at the money first. When you are not in the NBA you have to see where you are getting the most, and Dubai obviously has some money in their pockets (as much as I hate it). Didn't find anything yet about how much they actually pay him but considering the buyout for Olympiakos was 500k it won't be cheap for sure. About Theis, I saw them same thing. German media is also speculating what he is doing but as of now it really seems like Monaco is the front runner.

I don't want to believe that someone will blame him for such a way of thinking. But as you said, that doesn't mean that we like it (including me). For the buyout, some say 500k while others say 1mil, but it doesn't matter so much. The most interesting thing is how Dubai will be present in the upcoming season with these many new signings. Theis have a contract for another year with Monaco, and tbh, I was a bit surprised that there where a transfer story about him and his future there. Now we see both sides saying different things in the media, and I wonder what the reason is for such a debate. Let's see how this story will end.

Mirotic left Milan and signed with Monaco.
He's a truly quality player. His lack of a EuroLeague title is another matter. I don't think he'll win a EuroLeague title with Monaco, but he chose Monaco. Had he transferred to Hapoel or Dubai Basket, which have strong rosters, he might have had a shot at the EuroLeague title. My EuroLeague champion contender this year is Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Efes announced the signing of Isaia Cordinier from Virtus Bologna for 2 years. A good move for Efes, not a star though. Mirotic left Milan and signed with Monaco.

Why not? They managed to be in last season's Final, and with his addition (if he can stay healthy and out of injuries) can surely help them out by doing it one more time. My EuroLeague champion contender this year is Hapoel Tel Aviv.
It's more than early to say this...

Ok, I understand hype about Hapoel, but what's so special about Dubai? For me their roster looks very average and I'm not sure that they will make to the playoffs. While Mirotic to Monaco is great move. Monaco is playing in Final 4 almost every season, so, there is chance for him go get Euroleague title finally. While in Milan under Messina he and other big names are just wasting their talents. Now I have most questions about Fenerbahche and Barcelona rosters. Fener lost many key players and don't have big signings, while Barca IMO is signing too many veterans and they left coach that failed last season.

Yeah there are several question over the big names in Europe. Now is the hot phase to sign good players, yet Fenerbahce seems to be out of the conversations in those actions. By the way, I am surprised you didn't mention the signing of Maodo Lo to your Lithuanian powerhouse Zalgiris. Sure, he is not that big of a name but he is a very solid point guard and occasionally shows flashed of what he is capable of. I especially loved him in the German nationl team. His handles are top notch and he has good skills for sure.

Fenerbahçe's management has been unsuccessful in football for seven years. The fans' greatest desire is a championship. Therefore, the management won't invest in basketball for a year or two. Playing in the EuroLeague is a great achievement for Fenerbahçe in terms of prestige, but for now, football is their priority. They could make a few more signings, but I don't think Fenerbahçe will make it to the Final Four this year. I also think Dubai Basket has a mediocre roster, but Hapoel has built a good one. Now, the real question is: How will these players adapt? If there's a lack of harmony, there's no Final Four.

Ok, I understand hype about Hapoel
Well, I honestly don't. Even if they sign Misic, who is a step above in quality than all the others on their roster, I don't see anything to convince me about putting them among the contenders. Both Oturu and Bryant are good players, but neither is someone who will take the team to the next level. Same goes for the rest of Itoudis team. Now I have most questions about Fenerbahche and Barcelona rosters. Fener lost many key players and don't have big signings, while Barca IMO is signing too many veterans and they left coach that failed last season.
Both of them depend on their soccer teams and their management as a whole, and since both of them have serious financial issues, it's logical not to spend too much money on their basketball departments. Barcelona seems to choose experience and retains a coach who can handle such players. We will see if their strategy will be proven successful. In any case, they will not be an easy opponent for any Euroleague team. By the way, I am surprised you didn't mention the signing of Maodo Lo to your Lithuanian powerhouse Zalgiris. Indeed, Maodo Lo is a solid guard and he always best when he plays for the German national team. He isn't a "star" guard; however, he can be a serious piece for any team's system. It will be interesting to see how he will be used in Zalgiris and what his role will be on the team.

As there is a presidency election at Fenerbahçe in September, I don't think the board are able to focus on basketball. However there is still enough time to build the roster so I think it's very early to criticize. I think Monaco will be quite ambitious about the championship this year thanks to Mirotic's joining them.

Yeah, I actually don't like to talk about Zalgiris much. I don't have any warm feelings to this team, something similar like you about Bayern, only few times more. Especially now when they signed another Rytas academy grown player Tubelis. Such signings hits painfully... Maodo Lo is awesome signing for Zalgiris, they're really needed player like he. Well, I honestly don't. Even if they sign Misic, who is a step above in quality than all the others on their roster, I don't see anything to convince me about putting them among the contenders. You have good points about their roster. If we compare them with usual contenders, they're not looking that impressive. And considering how competetive Euroleague is in recent seasons, it's going to be tough I think I already said that being title contenders in first season looks a bit too much, but chance to reach Final 4 is high.

Well, I will say the opposite. I don't see them reaching the Final Four, even though I like coach Itoudis and his talent for getting the most out of any player he has. It's usual and common for people and fans to stick to the signings of a team and forget what they already have the other on their rosters. The one thing, though, that it can be for their benefit is the timing. Most of the teams of the Euroleague still spend less than what was expected, and they have not signed any high-calibre players. The exception so far is Panathinaikos, and they still haven't signed a PF/C.

Many people became Fenerbahçe Congress members during his term. Ali Koç was the most unsuccessful president in Fenerbahçe's history, but he will be elected again. Even if someone else is elected, Fenerbahçe won't invest in the basketball team. This year, everything is being focused on the football team. I don't think there's a budget allocated for basketball. My championship candidate is Hapoel. They've built a great team.

Fener announced a new sponsorship deal for their stadium worth 100 million euros (will receive the money over 10 years). So from now on, the Fenerbahçe stadium will be named Chobani instead of Ulker. I guess now, some money will eventually go to their basketball department. My championship candidate is Hapoel. They've built a great team.
Good luck with that choice, you will need it.

Good luck with that choice, you will need it. Nigel Hayes-David, one of Fenerbahçe Beko's most important players, left for the NBA. It is very difficult for Euroleague champions to keep their players at the end of the season. If Fenerbahçe Beko manages to keep its important players, it will have a good chance of winning the Euroleague title again this year. I know that the club is not doing well financially, but sponsorship deals will give the team some relief. Fenerbahçe Beko has a good momentum in basketball and I think the financial support of president Ali Koç will continue.

For any European team is difficult to keep any player who might be wanted from the other side of the Atlantic. Especially young and talented players who want to leave to play even in the NCAA league. However, we have seen teams that get the Euroleague and don't lose their stars, or even if they lose, they remain competitive and strong. So, just because Fener loses 1 player, doesn't mean that it loses everything. Besides, 1 player can't bring a championship if he doesn't have another 4 great players around him.

Fener lost a lot though. The players who scored actually more than half of the points of the whole team are gone. Guduric and Hayes-Davis were the key players in important games. After an unexpectedly great season, it seems like Fenerbahce might even enter a rebuilding phase. Because they didn't get any players yet that could make them a title contender. I saw people say Hapoel might be a favourite but it is very early to claim such a thing. I feel like Fenerbahce isn't a contender though. Even though they have Saras.

It's basically the same with football, teams like BVB build up great players but when the bigger leagues or teams come calling it's hard to stop the top players from leaving. NBA is the dream of every basketball player so if they get the chance to go, they will. Not only because of the money but for the prestige. I mean we all know that atmosphere and fundamental basketball is better in Europe. But everybody wants that check on their resume, playing in the big league. There is always the next generation you can build your team on, that's for sure. Now that Europe is on the radar of every NBA scout, unlike 20 years or so ago, it's not necessary to go the NCAA route anymore to possibly being picked high in the draft. So you can stay in Europe for a while and then do the jump.

Of course, being in the NBA is a dream for any kid who starts playing basketball. As you said, though, it isn't a necessity or something that you have to rush for. However, as you also know, the fame, the money, the way of life, all of this shining and the glam that the NBA offers push youngsters to see things differently. For me, Europe can be sometimes even better than the NBA, but my perspective it's different than the usual one. Better to focus on the sport, and glam will come.

What do you know about Fenerbahçe's new signing, Brandon Boston Jr.? Some people on social media are saying they've signed a player rated at least 8 out of 10, while others are saying he's a 10 out of 10. I've never heard of this player. This is the first time he's been outside the US. If he doesn't struggle to adapt to Europe, I think he'll be successful. He averaged 10.7 points in New Orleans last year. I think averaging 15 points in the EuroLeague would be enough for Fenerbahçe.

Signing a 23-year-old player like Brandon Boston Jr., who has significant potential and is athletic enough to score on his own, is a significant undertaking. Fenerbahçe Beko represents a great opportunity for Boston Jr. to prove himself and return to the NBA. The EuroLeague stage is a great showcase for Boston. I believe he will stay at Fenerbahçe for at least two years and then return to the NBA. I hope he makes a significant contribution to Fenerbahçe.
