I've never seen this as positive on the humanitarian side, but the business side where someone can see a means to make money easily, it's an option. I would be a bit confused for a while and then begin to consider the benefits and drawbacks of financing someone I knew to gamble if they approached me and asked for my help in exchange for a share of their winnings.
