Newbies don't understand that Bitcoin is the best way to invest. People who are new to crypto are mainly attracted to the various alt coins in the market. Hastily buys and invests in altcoins at low prices and at some point they come back empty handed. Many altcoins have disappeared from the market. I will not say that investing in altcoins will not get return but in that case they are wrong in selecting altcoins. There are still certain number of altcoins in the market from which a good return can be obtained. Anything related to investment can exhibit a dangerous performance and can contain fault approval performance. Consideration should be given to determinations for the amount and time to maturity of the investment.

For what I can see the train of thought newbies follow is to simply look for the coins they believe can give them the most money, so it is no as if they are interested in altcoins for their fundamentals, they just think those coins are the best way to obtain massive profits, however they do not really stop to think about the risks they are taking or the likelihood of their plans succeeding, because if they did then they will realize that investing in bitcoin is by far the superior choice in this market.

People do not realize what marketcap means, they are having that trouble. Investing into something just because the price is small could be one of the worst type of ideas. I have seen this recently, during last bull run, I have seen people who saw shiba token was low in price, and they were keep saying things like "if only the price reaches 10 cents, we are rich", but the reality was that it wouldn't, well it couldn't, that would make it bigger than entire crypto marketcap total.

I see your point OP, newbies will see bitcoin as being expensive compared to altcoins, the same amount that can buy 1 bitcoin, will buy many altcoins. Meaning that they're looking at volume instead of value, in the end bitcoin that has value will outlive the altcoins. My understanding is that anywhere that there is quick cash, you'll realize that it comes with greater risks, so bitcoin investment, requires the investor to accumulate and hold for a long term term, and when perfect opportunity comes, like during bull run, the investor sales and makes huge profit.

I'd be careful if I want to choose an altcoin for investment, despite any attractive offer, I can only choose a top altcoin like Ethereum, to put my money in.

Most of these mistakes have been enumerated by members above me. I read through and some of them made me nostalgic. There's that innocence that comes with ignorance and old timers like us passed through them. Now that I look back, I can only suppress a chuckle at such level of ignorance I had. The top on the list was me thinking and assuming that those tokens (didn't even know the difference then between tokens and coins) in cents and hundred miles away from cents in zeroes would rise like Bitcoin or at least get to ETH or its classics 😂. Anyway, most of them performed well and gave nice ROI but they soon died off as soon as the bull season was over. I held many, hoping they would max out and turn my little $10 to $1000. The ambition was that crazy. I hedl and couldn't sell when price started dipping. I know many will fall into that same trap once the real rally kicks in.

If they don't know what it means, then they will likely disregard it. Those who are having a trouble with it will do a research to make them understand it more. Low price coins are usually called as low-cap coins. They are said to pump quicker and higher. No wonder why many people (mostly newbies) are interested on them. It is still very risky though, which is why you can say it's a worse idea for one to invest. Some times people are just day-dreaming.

I think there is nothing wrong with that. I'm sure you also tried it? There is still a chance that they can snap back into reality. In crypto, some things are possible. Not all altcoins become crashed because there are lots of altcoins which when hold for longer time increase in price over the time. BNB and Ethereum are a good altcoins that when hold for longer term then will surely offer a maximum return during appropriate timing. Of course BTC is my priority first. but Altcoins are fine too, but I like Altcoins that have a history and resistance to shocks if there is a sudden correction that doesn't immediately go down and takes a long time to get back up. Absolutely true, I think this bull run it won't be any different because we might see lot of shitcoins pumping up and people who ar aware of this will end up investing in it and tempted to earn more profits but end up with just tokens which are worthless and this mistake will be made by seasoned users as well due to greed.Lol I still remember hodling some tokens which I don't even remember which made me millionaire during December 2017 but the greed of earning more millions left me with tokens worth few dollars. but no harm in taking calculated risk with a predefined plan for profit margin. agreed, investing in coin with low liquidity, simply means we are donating money in these coin, the dev of the coin gonna dumps, some random holder also gonna dumps, there'll be no way for us to dump our coin afterwards, so we are basically donating our own money away for some random people, stick with coin with real use case, stick with coin that could make their way up to top 200, then its far better.
recent pumps has shown that the coin that increase massively these days are the one with real use case and fundamental, they are reaching more than 100% gain meanwhile some random shitcoin will just be at their all time low forever, thats why its really important invest for value, investing for the real use case that cause the real demand to the products.

Like people have pointed out. Amount of digits of single coin doesn't matter at all. But imho they are right in a sense that investing to bitcoin might not bring you 1000x profits, or even 10x profits unless inflation eats everything and bitcoin rises in fiat money value. But that's doesn't happen in short term. Because if there would be hyperinflation event it would not only destroy markets as we know it, it would most likely wipe the cryptocurrencies as well, as people would start to invest in something worth value to everyone.

But altcoins in short term still can make you rich if you choose right one in right time, while it still has low marketcap. Or you invest to something that starts burning a lot of coins at some point.

I saw the peak of this in 2018, when 10 new threads appeared every day asking "what coin to buy for less than $1". I know that naturally newbies will want to a coin that a small amount can purchase, compered to bitcoin higher price, they feel altcoins will give a higher profit in a short term. But we know that the end justifies the means, because bitcoin will always stand firm in the crypto market, while most of these altcoins will fade away.

If you are skeptical it should be based on your research, not just your fears. Many altcoin investments provide success depending on what altcoin you hold. I'm not against bitcoin, but diversification is necessary to support other benefits and not just bitcoin.

Total supply is also matters but where they deceived to invest with the 24-hour trading volume and it's possible to create fake liquidity for any token especially if it's got less market cap value by whales or even by the exchanges themselves for bumping and dumping of particular tokens. Newbies blatantly invest in projects just based on 24-hour top gainer/ 1 1-week top gainer and so on without researching further about the projects.

Just invest on huge caps altcoins like Ethereum, ADA, XRP and so on that is listed on top 10 then you are safe on crazy swing of Altcoins since huge has a very low chance to wreck the price out of nowhere without Bitcoin dumping.

Avoid buying altcoins that is low marketcap and trading volume since this kind of coin can erase all your capital in just a short period of time. Yes, profitability is high but the risk of losing all your assets too is also high so it’s not really worth it.
