I'd say it's a bit of both, but it depends on what you're playing, generally the basic principle of gambling is luck.. As a previous user suggested, you'll need some knowledge to play poker or sports betting; you need to know your teams and their performances. Other games, such as dices, slots, roulette (this sits somewhere in the middle as well in terms of tactics), and so on, I'd say it's pure luck, like the majority of them out there. To me it is indeed about luck and skill, but not how most of the people could assume. The luck is required so one can get some profit off the casino, the skill comes when money management is needed, in order to know when to stop or how to stop at the right time to enjoy the earnings of the session.

That's the best answer and we could close the topic at that.
It's really a very simple question that can be answered in a single sentence. You don't need skill in games like dice, crash, slots, lottery, and many other. You can't influence the game in any way.

Luck is the most important factor even in theoretically skill based games like poker. When you lack luck, you can prolong the game, or bluff and hope they won't notice, but consistent lack of good cards won't make you win the game. It can only make you not lose too much, but it depends on how good other players are. On the other hand, if you're lucky, but not very good, you won't know when to raise and will end rounds with small wins, but you will be winning without any skill.

Luck usually is a compliment of skill, if you don't have the skill your chances of been lucky are going to be really slim, although we know that gambling has more to do with been lucky but then you have to be skilled at some point to be able to get an edge they will help you be lucky.

Before working in every subject one must have skill in that subject but gambling is a site where not only skill will help you to be successful but skill will also make you lucky. I agree with what you said, in my opinion also luck has a major role in any gambling, even if there are people who are experienced or have been gambling for a long time and can even be said to be experts in gambling whether people like him will always get a win in every gambling, in my opinion not. I disagree with sportsbook as a luck-reliant game. It's not. I think most bettors on that know the possible outcome of the game. Not 100 percent accurate but they do have an idea of how it will end up by checking stats, and history, or they just know the team or the player that will be playing. Analysis is much needed when it comes to sports betting, just blindly betting could end up in a loss or a lack of knowledge about the preferred game.

It all depends on what type of gambling you're doing.  Playing slots? Upsets could really happen but on the thing that you do said which is actually true that it doesnt happen all the time and there would really be times that you would really be needing to be that sensible and wise with your choice according into those statistical approach when we do speak or talk about numbers. Your right, there is no skill that is relatable to gambling. A person may be lucky to predict and unexpectedly win bets but not because that is his skill but because he is lucy and irrespective of someone has to do thorough analysis on bets gambling mostly all about luck and chances.
