Being too good at this young age got it's own problem.

I am seeing this in a way how Indian constituency is lagging in protecting/valuing under aged and their mindset. At least this kind of news will trigger law makers to think about.

We cannot expect same level of law protection like USA or UK by considering the age of our independence still no progress is more dangerous than slow progress towards the welfare of adolescent. I believe, at least this news may lead to slow progress.

Yeah, cricket is part of our life style and may contribute to evolve as well.

At the same place they had no issue offering underage girls to Pakistani grooming gangs and system tried so hard to hide all details and shunned all the whistle blower, including victims.

The openers gave a good start to the Kiwis, but the middle order started crumbling, and he is one of the reasons. I was expecting the Kiwis to go for a score beyond 500; unfortunately, they did not, and most likely will not. Earlier in the day, the wicket was not so good for the bowlers, but later on it changed. Will the English batters be able to play on that pitch and chase those runs is doubtful.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have today confirmed the qualification pathway for cricket’s return to the Olympic Games at LA28, including the introduction of the first-ever ICC Olympics Qualifier.

Six nations will compete in each of the Men’s and Women’s T20 competitions in Los Angeles, with Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania all guaranteed representation.

^^ lol the way they are using the term "qualification " it sounds like that there's actually some qualification process and all full members and 100 odd associate are fighting for spots.

Don't expect much from them anyway, these guys can't even make proper qualification process for their ICC tourney.

Anyways, it is a big step for cricket, which is now recognized by the oldest sports body in the world. I will take it as a big achievement by the ICC in getting cricket into the Olympics for greater exposure. Even the richest sporting league in the world, which is baseball, could not get its game into the Olympics.

A small correction. IPL is valued higher than MLB and Baseball was recently played in the 2020 Olympics and is scheduled for the next Olympics as well. Previously, only two teams participated in Olympics cricket and England won the gold medal and France was the obvious silver medalist.  

Since the creation of T20, it has been obvious that if a host country has cricket stadiums, it will be included. However, that does not mean we should expect cricket in every Olympic Games. The players participating in the Olympics will undergo strict clauses requiring them report their location round the clock for random drug testing. So, I do not expect every player to be willing to participate unless they are ready to undergo this process.

I am just cruous how this applies to cricket, especially for team like India, where there is hundreds of players who played for the nation and I believe the team playing on the Olympics will be announced by that time only so the drug testing will begin after the team is announced or everyone should face this testing?

Cricket is getting bigger but it is not worldwide yet, so ICC wants more nations to recognize that cricket is an exciting sport so they can make more billions and this is an attempt for that in my opinion.

Cricket getting big is illusion IMO

Why? Because IPL valuation went up and this money is now start to drop in few selected foreign league. The moment IPL starts slowing down, other leagues will go bust as most of the owners are Indian based.

They will not wait for the final list of players. In football, they will ask for a provisional list of eligible players for the Olympic team, and I am expecting the same with cricket. The IOC will request a probables list, and everyone on that list will be included in the elite testing pool.

You cannot add a player at a later stage if they were not included in the probables list. All these players must provide their whereabouts around the clock. The issue here is that if they miss the random testing three times, they will receive a mandatory two year suspension. Hope we won't see much drama regarding this.

Nita Ambani was instrumental in adding cricket to the Olympics as she is the first Indian women elected as an IOC member. The main negotiation point was the larger audience that the IOC could attract from Asia by including cricket, which naturally increases the revenue in selling broadcasting rights.
If the IOC could add $100 to $200 million extra in their coffers by adding cricket, they would do so.

^^ I'd have been happier if it was atleast 24 teams competition and open season for everyone like a knock out from get go.

But it does feel like same setting as ICC tournaments where participants got in because of usual bias. IOC already compromised in qualification process so I'm assuming that they will relax some rules as well.

The usual, any four from the 5 or 6 teams will get into the semi-final then there will be either India or Australia or to a stretch, England will win the Gold, but one thing is assured we might aim for more than one gold now in the Olympics as long as cricket is there. Pity status but we are happy with one or two gold in the Olympics while other nations are counting in dozens.

Ironically cricket is also one of the reason why no other sport went to the international level.

i predict a tight 3-1 series win for england if india doesnt immediately fix their powerplay execution with the ball. England's white-ball squad looks incredibly settled at home, and india's transition phase will take a few more games to smooth out the rough edges. Sheryas lyer will likely be india's highest runs-scorer for the series.  What are your thoughts,guys? are we experminting too much after the world cup victory, or is this temporary slump exactly what the bench strenght needs to grow?
