Is this a rumor, or is it genuinely being discussed within the BCCI big guns? I think it is a rumor, and if it is not, then we might hear it after the 19th of this month. The rumor is that the BCCI is considering removing GG. The replacement will be either VVS or Mahi. There are again rumors that Mahi is being considered as coach for CSK. If anyone has any info, then do share.

I don't think GG is leaving the team anytime soon, he got political backup too if I am not wrong so these all are just wild rumors. But they can consider different coaches for different formats, GG is fine in whiteball except the recent mess up but in test we failed terribly even with full potential team and losing series against NZ on home series is the biggest failure so they can consider Laxman for that or anyone from Ranji rather than star value.

MSD will never take any coaching job for any team, that is my opinion though.

The BCCI has appointed VVS Laxman as head coach of the senior squad for the tour of Zimbabwe and the upcoming Asian Games. They announced that they did so in order to give Gautam Gambhir a rest from his grueling workload.

Along with Laxman, Sehwag and Yuvraj are perfect choices for future coaching jobs. Both are already running great cricket academies and working closely with young talent. I believe Abhishek Sharma fine-tuned his game directly under Yuvraj's mentorship.

MSD will never take any coaching job for any team, that is my opinion though.

I have not heard of MSD running any academy, and I am not sure whether he has announced his retirement from the IPL. Until then he won't be available to take on a full time coaching job.

I am not seeing any news of Laxman being the head coach of team India on cricbuz but other major news outlets posted that India will continue split coaching model and Laxman is taking over as the head coach for the Zimbabwe series, followed by the Asian games.

Looks like they want a different one for the second-string team, but it is better if they appointed different coaches for different formats.

Even though I did not particularly notice this news on Cricinfo or Cricbuzz, it was published in newspaper articles. VVS Laxman, who was already the head coach of the India A and Under-19 teams, is now stepping up for the Zimbabwe tour. After that, the Asian Games will coincide with the West Indies tour, so VVS Laxman will handle those assignments as well. It looks like they will split the coaching duties until Gautam Gambhir steps down.

India has done terribly under Gautam Gambhir in Test matches, losing home series against New Zealand and South Africa, as well as seven bilateral series. The feathers in his cap during his tenure are the Champions Trophy, T20 World Cup, and Asia Cup.

I have posted earlier on the same thread that VVS is the new coach of the team that is going to ZIM. I thought OP might have read it, but unfortunately he did not  . I am still hearing rumors that MS can become the coach for CSK, as he is already part of the selection team. This rumor came up when Stephen Fleming was said bye-bye by the management. As per the news, Hemang Badani is the leading contender and these rumors came because of this scenario.

When MS was the captain of CSK between 2009–2010. Badani was on the bench and did not get to play a single match during his time with the franchise. Source, that is why MS is going to pitch himself for that position. Do you think the rumors are true? BTW..CSK rumors generally are true

Just like dravid, he's been involved with india a squad and NCA for quite some time and he's also acting as interim coach for Indian team for fair amount of time ( when main coach takes a break )and went to zimbabwe, sa tour in 2024 as well.

India's performance will determine whether he remains in his position, especially if they exceed expectations against the Zimbabwe team. I wouldn't classify the Zimbabwe team as weak since one of their bowlers has made it into the IPL. Additionally, I believe a few of their batters could be included in the IPL next season. Brian Bennett is currently performing well, and if he continues this trend in the upcoming bilateral series, he could secure a spot in the IPL.

In my opinion, Indian cricket is in need of a new coach. GG is a bad option; his strategies have not been effective, as evidenced by our losses in the T20 and ODI series against England. After winning a WC title as a coach, he could have chosen to resign, and yet, he opted to stay as a coach for financial gain.

It is highly unlikely that MS Dhoni would pitch himself to a coaching position simply because Hemang Badani is the leading contender. If I remember correctly, Badani came into the team to replace Hrishikesh Kanitkar and, along with Dinesh Mongia, played some decent innings for India.

I do not even remember whether Badani was in the CSK team during the 2008 inaugural IPL tournament. The reason is, many former players who joined the ICL were banned altogether for the initial few IPL seasons, and Badani was also banned if I remember correctly.

It is highly unlikely that Gautam Gambhir will drop Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma, as they are the sole openers in the squad for the Zimbabwe tour, and Sanju Samson is not even in the team. Rinku Singh might return to the side, but it remains to be seen which bowling composition they are planning. It is definitely hard to find a replacement for Bumrah and Pandya, as the next best all-rounder India has is Shivam Dube.
