Sanju Samson can play the anchor role and, personally, I would like to see him in the team, like he demonstrated during the World Cup; unfortunately, the current administration prefers flashy players.

If team actually need an anchor for opener role they why go with the sanju, there are better anchor openers sitting out and some has better consistency with the bat for example gill. You can't find better anchor than him in current lot.

Because of current management, sanju get to play the wc and still in the mix.

Sai is another better choice if they don't want Gill, he got techniques and numbers as wel in the IPL and consistency we can't get any better than his IPL records. Even I thought Sanju is done for good for multiple times but duede still finds a way to get in and whenever he is not in the playing XI but in bench the pair just suck and he get some matches where he performs big on rare occasions.

If not Gill then Sai is likely the replacement for Gill that is what I said. Pairing such a batter along with likes of Vaibhav or Jaiswal will be a deadly combo rather than pairing with another hit-or-miss player because we need one bankable player at the top so that others can play around them with high sr.

Rutu should consider changing his permanent residency if he wants to play for the international side.

Wanting Sanju in the team is my personal bias, but he has actually performed well in that role. Yashasvi Jaiswal is another extraordinary talent missing out on certain matches in the T20 side and sitting out, along with other top-order players like Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal. This abundance of talent means India could literally make an A, B, and C team and still defeat some international teams.

All four names will rotate in the opening position for a few years. Unless and until someone performs exceptionally well in the IPL, they won't get a chance to replace this quartet.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal could continue their RR partnership at the international level. Personally, I do not want to see Gill in the T20s as there are other good strikers of the ball. Sanju Samson can be added to create a left-right combination.

Not a bad option to go with Viabhav and Jaiswal, both are young and destructive from the ball one but they are a similar kind of player, which is not working since they are following the same strategy but with ABishek who is even better striker of the ball than Jaiswal as of now.

Sanju is talented but he lacks consistency and he has always been like that, dude comes up with one or two match-winning knocks in 10 games and fuckup the remaining 8.

In IPL, it really affected Jaiswal but if they are playing for India then we won't have any competition over the strike rate because the ultimate reason is to get into the national side and once they got in, they should play to their role according to their strengths. I would be happy if both are opening for the Indian T20 side, but it won't happen unless Abishek sharma is injured or got into any other drama like Ishan.

Jaiswal is a more calculated attacker than Vaibhav Sooryavanshi or Abhishek Sharma. Sanju lacks consistency because his position in the team is always on the edge, he faces immense pressure whenever he comes out to bat.

The truth is, if you put anyone in the history of cricket against the young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, especially when he is at the crease in T20s, they will pale in comparison. He reminds me of a young David Warner when he first started playing cricket.

Like I mentioned above, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will overshadow everyone; his age and stroke play are something completely new. I still remember Gayle making his debut and most of the time Wavell Hinds was his opening partner, and anyone who watched those matches will know that Hinds was visually a much better stroke player than Gayle for a long period of time.

Sachin Tendulkar had this hype before making his debut, and Brian Lara had a lot of hype in the Caribbean islands. Even though he did not make a big score before his international debut, he was touted as the future of West Indies cricket. Graeme Hick had similar hype, but he did not live up to it. So, time tell whether Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will live up to the hype he created.

I can recall that hype! Both were considered prodigies, and both were pitched against each other in every discussion. Even the commentators used to compare their style of batting. But only one became the god of cricket, and the other got overshadowed. Modern cricket is the T20 format, and Vaibhav is overshadowing everyone, including Abhishek Sharma, after the ZIM series. So, for now, Jaiswal and Sharma are the two batters who have been compared by the media against Vaibhav. This comparison will keep on increasing as Vaibhav will continue to play in the same manner for the next couple of years.

No replacement yet for Bumrah for this series. If possible I wish to see one of the veterans back in action, preferably Shami who may not have many years left, but with this highly inexperienced attack, having one who has experience will boost confidence in both on and off the field.

They sidelined even axar from the test squad so doubt they'll call back shami.

In absence of jassi, siraj always does well tho and it's srilanka. Somehow he always turns up against them in every format. Enough of humbling in test and ngl it'd be painful if Lankans belting us.

Found that Auqib Nabi is going to be the replacement of Bhumrah in the upcoming test against SL. Source. BTW..I am more interested in seeing how our batters perform in spin conditions. In the past, it has been a disaster whenever our batters face a spin attack, and I am sure Srilanka knows this weakness. They will surely come up with pitches that favour their spin bowlers.

^^ Auqib and Gurnoor both were making a decent noise in domestic so not a bad idea. The latter did alright in white ball as well.

Speaking of Bumrah, because of his bowling style no expert ( likes of akram, bond, McGrath etc) believed that he would last for 25-30 matches so glad that he atleast played 50 odd test for us, kudos to BCCI because they managed his workload nicely.

Would be nice if he skip IPL and BCCI cover all the financial loss for him.

Here are three reasons BCCI will not cover his financial loss if Bhumrah skips IPL.
1. He is not just a bowler but an Indian cricketing star who has star power.
2. BCCI will not try to mess with the franchise that owns him, and you should know the reason.
3. BCCI will not mess with the brands that already own him for him playing in the IPL.

Your suggestion is valid, but considering how many years Bumrah has left in his career, he will likely try to make the most of his opportunities. Coming from a lower-middle-class background, he understands the value of money, which is why he is unlikely to hold himself back from playing in the IPL.
