The long awaited AML checker is now live. You can use this address checker to check the AML score of any address. Instructions for use are on the website. Checks cost $10 and can be purchased in batches of 100. Therefore you only pay 10 cents per check - one of the lowest rates in the market. Your addresses are verified anonymously - no metadata such as IP address is sent to 3rd parties. Try it now: BitMixList AML Checker

Can this be tool be used only as paid service, and there is no option to first test it for free by checking one or two addresses? I know price you are asking is not big, but there are several alternative option that provide free address testing already.

Yesterday, I added an option to purchase 10 checks for 1000 sats, or about $1, so no. Honestly $1 is very cheap and by offering the checks for free, I run at an operating loss. By the way, here is what the results look like: You can also export the report as text, so that you can save it permanently. A lot of competitors only display categories, like they say it's from CEX, MIXER, SCAM, SANCTIONED ENTITY, and so on, but my checker actually tells you which counterparties are linked to the address.

That is totally acceptable, but you should enable alternative payment options that are better for privacy, or have lower transactions fees. Not everyone is willing to spend bitcoin mainnet for this purpose. A lot of competitors only display categories, like they say it's from CEX, MIXER, SCAM, SANCTIONED ENTITY, and so on, but my checker actually tells you which counterparties are linked to the address.
That is unique feature, if it is accurate. Can this detect coins coming from different crypto casinos?

Yes, there are labels for a bunch of large casinos such as Stake, BC.Game, Betpanda, Duelbits, and some others.

A new onion domain has been set up for BitMixListPlease use this onion site when accessing BitMixList through Tor: mixlistihakx3uexhl3wv7xxpnso75pl2fxxupulqz3gpoybum62puid.onionI wanted to make a bitmixlist prefixed onion site, but it took too long and by sheer dumb luck, I ended up with this vanity address instead. Looks spiffy, huh? Anyways, the Tor link will be updated on the site and on ANNs in a timely manner. PS. all issues with AML checks have been resolved.

I think you should edit that link because clicking on it doesn't take me to the AML checker. It takes me to the homepage. The link to the AML checker is this one. However controversial all this is, it's the new reality, so I am not going to waste time writing anything about taint and AML scores. I have a question though. How comfortable are you regarding the accuracy of your AML checker? Let's say I use your service to check my bitcoin address, and it displays a low risk score. How confident can I be that I will get same/similar results when I deposit from that address to CEX A or CEX B and not have them classify my coins differently? I guess it's pretty much impossible to guarantee that or to know how individual exchanges come to their own conclusions when it comes to taint and AML requirements.

I simply pull data from AMLCrypto. So the scores you see here are the same as there. The exchange, however, might use a different scoring partner than them, and might return different results, so as a general rule of thumb, keep the score below 25 and you should be alright.

There were some issues with the AML checker earlier. They were caused by a cloud service misconfiguration that caused the whole check to fail, after one of the two AML checking servers stopped responding. I have patched it, and now AML checks should work as long as at least one of the servers is online.

I am currently in the process of hardening the web server from attacks, so there may be some downtime on the main site. Mirrors remain unaffected.
Update: Maintenance completed, with no downtime at all fortunately.

Is the reason for improving server security an attack, or are you doing it now only as a precaution? If I remember correctly, you complained about the attacks a long time ago. I think it was even right at the beginning when you started this project.

No attacks this time, but I recently learned about a vulnerability wherein the attacker can find the IP address even behind Cloudflare. So I had to patch that.

Major new update for February. Now we have a lot more pages, tables, and diagrams about different subjects. The history has largely been cleaned up and split into organized subsections which are easy to hyperlink and share. We also have a Privacy Tools directory: (bitmixlist.org/#privacy-tools), this helps you find open source software for Bitcoin privacy. Here are a list of pages worth checking out: - Mixer Privacy - compare different anonymization technologies.
- Evolving Regulation - Crypto privacy legality tracker by country.
- The Aftermath - List of scenarios and what-ifs that could affect privacy.
- Crackdown - Law enforcement actions against mixers.
- Crime - Law enforcement actions against not-so-much-mixers.
Thanks for using BitMixList.

I had a look at this website again recently after a very long time. Congratulations NotATether on your efforts to create your project.
For me, I think one of the biggest assets you have in the website is that you do not make personal commentary in the form of a review. Had you 'reviewed' a service and then added an affiliate link, I think that would have called in to question the legitimacy of the service. Affiliate links on their own is not a problem and neither are ads that you stated you do not endorse.
One advantage is that even if someone from outside the forum or unconnected to it stumbles upon the BitMixList site without having prior knowledge of your contributions in the forum, they can expect an unbiased and informative experience.
Hopefully the project will continue to develop, evolve and grow.

The AML checker is working again.
A few important changes:
- I have switched the old backend to Quicknode + MistTrack. This has the side effect of making AML checks return instantly. -- This is also very expensive, so prices have been increased to 500 sats per check (up from 100). At current prices this is about $3.5 for 10 checks and $35 for 100 checks. - You can now see a label for the address if it exists in the MistTrack database.
This new backend allows me to create an AML checker API. This is coming soon but there is no timeline for this feature.
