Regardless of the amount he lost his life is much more than it as there is hope after it though I believe he has been entertaining the coward thoughts before loosing the money tipped him off. No matter how hard the situation(s) might be let's always have the mindset of hope after all countries are owing.

Probably he has been contemplating suicide for other reasons beyond him losing his bet. A triggering factor could be responsible for that and not just gambling losses, maybe he has been frustrated with life along time ago and now wants to try hitting a jackpot with this particular bet by having a one time try. I believe as someone who gamble such amount, he would have been having win and losses before this time so he should understand the loss and win that is involved in gambling so taking his life might not only be because he lost but no matter what was his challenge, he doesn't need to take his life as a young man who still have time to make things right in his future.

If we value our lives more than anything in this world, we can't think like that. Only a person who has a mental problem will have the courage to take their life.

This isn't is more than just valuing your life more than any other thing, there are people who value their life even more than you do but depression has a way of making them feel like life is worthless and not worth living no more. Have you ever been in a situation where you feel like the only thing you live for has been taken away from you, your only purpose of living washed away like an erosion washes away the top soil, pray you don't ever find yourself in such a situation because when you do, you'll realize that suicide isn't just about not having value in your life or due to mental ailments. Who knows what the young man must have been through that made him turn to  gambling as his final option and maybe after being disappointed which is normal, couldn't take it anymore and decided to end it all.

Is there anything more valuable than life or does life has a price tag? You see, depression is real not doubt but in same way hope also is real, when we keep hope alive in any situation we can always find a way out of whatever kind of depression your negative accident bring to mind. And also affects his memory, the deceased would be forced to engage in a decision, that he doesn't understand or have direct control over. That is usually what happens, unfortunately most people do end up playing with money that they do not have, I have seen a guy who sold a house for someone else, it wasn't his house, it was someone who lived in another nation and invested to a house and wanted to sell, and this person was not a real estate person but like some family member who lived in that nation, after selling the house until the real owner came in and took the money, he wanted to gamble and double the money, and he lost it all and then took his own life as well.

Many people end up gambling with others money and then they take their own life, not that it solves any of the issues, money is still gone, so them taking their life doesn't change a single thing. I believe that these people need to learn that gambling with money that you can't lose is not something you should be doing, it's such a simple concept and they must be aware of it and for some reason they still keep doing it, no idea why.

There are more reasons why this person died than this. As I read this in one of the country's new papers, the main reason this person took his own life was as a result of not using only his money to play this bet. But after a series of losses over the month, he finally saw a game he taught that would make him recover all that he had lost in the past, and wagering with just a small amount was not enough for him, so he insisted on taking loans from colleagues and friends, whose money he took from them was even higher than what he put in the game himself.
 
So what makes him take his life is not knowing how to repay back all this loan he took and the share of facing those who he has borrowed money from who know the excuse that he used to take that loan.
 
It's just a pity that someone will borrow to gamble and lose instead of looking for means necessary to repay, like selling property, pleading for extensions, or anything else, he decides to take his own life over money he can make within a year. Now he knows nothing about what the family is facing right now as a result of his selfish decision.

Some people never know that having a disappointment is not the end of life, though it may comes with series of disgrace and hatred but one needs to understand the risk involved before gambling, even if the worst scenario happened that we need to find a means of getting out of the trouble we've gone into already, death is not a warrant solution to end the menace caused already because that does not fix it, we need to gamble responsibly, we need to take low risk with gambling and also avoid unnecessary actions and activities that my affect us from gambling.

What exactly is value OP, don't you know that value s can easily be influenced by certain factors and different people has different values, although a set of people can have a the same values but that doesn't mean everyone has the same amount of value they place on something, to you and others you place a priceless tag value on life but does that means that's the same for every other person too? Have you not seen a particular race or religion that has less value for their lives and are ready to throw it away so easily without a second thought for a cause they hold sacred, does it look like you share the same value with those set of people.

Honestly, I still don't get it why a gamble would take his own life after a bad lose which would have affected him so much. This is one of the reasons why we need to make sure that we don't gamble too much so we don't end up loses which could affect us internationally. We need to make sure that we gamble responsibly and we don't borrow funds with full confidence that we are going to win. This has happened very often in my country, I see some comments saying that nothing justifies the behavior of this person who killed themselves, but I think that people don't understand how serious it is and how life can be much harder than they imagine or think, when someone borrows money and takes that money and puts it in the game and then loses everything in the game and that person has nowhere else to get money to pay back the loan, so that person starts to think: "the guy he borrowed from or the bank in which he borrowed will report him when he fails to repay the loan and he will be arrested, tried and sentenced to many years in prison."

I think I read the story isn't completed, the guy was a regular sporty player, I saw some pictures of him holding a long bet slip from old games he won on Facebook. I think what happened was the guy borrowed money from a friend about ₦1.5M to add to his money ₦1 and all together sum it to ₦2.5M and he used it to bet but unfortunately, the bet didn't go well as he lose the money to the betting company and out shame and how to pay back the money, he drank insect popularly called Otapiapia in Nigeria and passed away leaving a note behind but if he has been winning money as they claim, is this amount worth taking life? That's something I'm yet to figure out.

This is just another reminder to we all gamblers that no bet is sure and guaranteed, don't ever use an amount of money you are not comfortable to lose just because you feel convicted in your mind that the game will play as predicted. There's no such thing as sure bet in gambling.

It is very sad, keeping in mind all the context. Even though I have read about stories like this one in the past, about people taking the wrong decision after losing money to a casino, what baffles me about this specific case is how much this person loss and which has pushed him to take his own life and leave his family and friends behind.
Granted, 3000$ is not pocket change and it can certainly be a small fortune in developing countries, but if we are realistic on this person's situation, I believe he would have gotten all that money back in a year or two by saving and investing responsibly part of his salary. It makes me believe that this person was not a simple problem gambler like other one can see in the street and in empoverished communities, this man probably suffered from very serious mental issues and complexes of inferiority, those could have led them to believe he was nothing if he did not have that money and continued to accumulate more.

I don't know what else to say... If he managed to confess to his family about his loss and the fact he was feeling suicidal, perhaps he could have found some support and avoided this destiny. Nobody asked him to wager on games innit; even though he made the worst decisions to do so, committing a suicide wasn't the best options to have taken at that point... This exactly the reason why it's advised never to gamble with loan money or use gambling as a backup plan because you might just end up being disappointed and not everyone can be able to manage such a disappointment.

I understand what the fellow must have been through, but he's supposed to have truly understood the true nature of gambling, you can't completely rely on it to solve your immediate problem because you don't know luck will be on your side, it may fall on the day you least expect, if he had really understood this then he wouldn't have used gambling as a backup plan to raise money to repay his debt. No amount of money can make me commit a suicide. I'm gambling occasionally and purely for fun but even if I'd make a huge bet for some reason and lose, that won't make me take my own life. I mean it's just money It's not worth it.

Do you pity the dead? They don't have anything to lose again. Who I'm concerned about right now is the family of the deceased; the people who he has owed might be after the family; the burial expense is also on the family's head; and the money that he has lost, even if it's gathered together, won't be enough to solve the problem that he has brought to the family, so I don't even pity him at all.
