Haha yeah, the hidden gem on Borneo is actually Sarawak, where I'm from. I would say Kalimantan but it's not for the faint-hearted. No white sandy beaches, which helps explains why it's under the radar but if you're looking for seriously good rainforest/mountain outdoor adventures and tribal living in the interior, there's where it's at. Borneo is probably the last bastion of rainforest in this part of the world (see Brunei for virgin rainforest that hasn't been touched for thousands of years) and it won't last much longer...

I'm not sure anyone likes more tourists! It sounds nice at first, but it always spills over into something worse long term.

P.S. I've been convincing a certain someone to make a docu about Myanmar's underground casino scene, but sadly, it's almost all over now with the Chinese takedown. Actually, not sad, because those places mistreat a lot of people but it was some crazy fantastical place that came out of nowhere..!
