Today, it was announced by Saudi Arabia’s Chairman of General Entertainment Authority Turki Alalshikh that the fight for the undisputed light heavyweight championship will take place on June 1st. This is one of the most anticipated matchups by boxing fans. Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol are both undefeated, elite pound for pound champions who are at the peak of their careers.

Beterbiev is known for his devastating power and is the only active champion with a 100% knockout ratio, while Bivol is more of a technician who wins his fights by decision. This is the most anticipated fight, and it should happen this year, I'm glad promoters made a move to make it happen, its five months to go before the fight but many will look at this fight was going to be a candidate for fight of the year, last year we had the Crawford - Spence mega fight and it was not even close.

With their good record, power, and ring generalship I don't expect a fight like the Crawford - Spence fight, I expect the fight to be close and full and action, the fight could go either way but if we based it on both fighters last fight I prefer Beterbiev to win the fight by knockout.

I was trying to find the betting odds of this fight since it's not yet included in the OP but I could not find one.

This is good, it's a strong competition between these two warriors, but I will vote for Bivol to win as I was more familiar with him since he beaten Canelo which is a strong and a very popular champion.

I do hope that there is no boycott here, and Beterviev has move to Canada already for many years. Although Bivol still carries the Russian Flag, boxing politics should be step aside here and we as fans should enjoy the fight.

But millions of PPV could be far stretch here, there are ways that fans can watch for free. And although it could generate millions, I doubt that it can reach that high, maybe if this fight is like 5-10 years ago, it would go more than a mil in PPV number, in my opinion.

For me, I will go with Bivol here, perhaps his overwhelming style of suffocation might be too much for Beterbiev early and he might have a hard time trying to get back into the fight in the latter rounds. Yarde almost did that in their fight, but he was big muscular and so doesn't have the gas tank to last the full fight.

And in the late rounds, he got tired, careless and what hit by Beterbiev and that's it. If Bivol can sustain that volume per round, he might win in a very close decision from the judges card. Yes, I would love to see a rematch if this fight is going to be close, and just by looking at the odds, it says 50/50. So even odd makers can't decide who is going to be their favorite and that is good enough that this fight might go to distance because they are even right now as per the odds.

If Bivol's defense could hold up until the final bell then there's a chance that he could pull a win here as Beterbiev is not used on fighting the whole 12 rounds so he might gassed out if that scenario happens.

He is a freak athlete, which is rare for a 39 year old, but so is LeBron James who is the same age. People having suspicions about one athlete but not the other seems like a double standard.

Personally, I am one of those that aren't much interested on Kingry's first title fight against Haney. No matter how much Ryan can talk and bring hype, it's a fact that he is far from the level of Haney. Although there is no rehydration clause, Haney could be the one benefitting it during fight night. Wilder will be the slight favorite here, I reckon. Even though he both of them lost to Parker, who is a technical fighter, Wilder could still have something inside of him, the desire and motivation to at least go out and win one more time.

However, it appears that Canelo's real reason why he does not want to fight David Benavidez is the money might not be enough compared to the risk that he might lose all of his championships to Benavidez. If this is true, I reckon Benavidez's challenge against the champions of light heavyweight might be his strategy to be known as a big name in boxing that can offer Canelo money and more to his legacy if Canelo is victorious.

What we are missing here is blaming of the corrupt WBA and WBA for the Canelo mandatory case. Almost all fighters wanted the safer route especially when they are already on the A-side. Which is why these sanctioning bodies should be the one imposing their rules to make the right fights and not deprived those fighters that worked hard in order to get shot at the title.

And almost all of us are just talking about Benavidez the supposed WBC mandatory. What about the supposed WBA mandatory David Morrell? That's what I notice too with Canelo now, after his lost to Bivol, he is taking less risk in his fight. John Ryder? we never heard of him before, and then Jermell Charlo who is a natural super welterweight who has to move 2 divisions north to fight him, and now Munguia, very young fighter and inexperience and a Mexican to boot. He said that he will not be fighting Mexican but I guess if the fighter is less of a threat for him, then he will readily accept it and of course he will get the lion share of the split and then the ppv numbers. Benavidez is a threat for him, so no to another Mexican monster or fellow Mexican boxers.

That's just an excuse on Canelo part, not fighting any Mexicans along his career. But when presented with a good offer from his former promoter or maybe he is targeting Munguia way before because he knows that he can beat the kid, then Canelo will ditch that excuse of not fighting a countryman. And besides, how can he not when there could be a lot of good boxers that is Mexican in his division? That is the thing with PBC, perhaps it was there pride right now that they don't what to have their boxers in the Middle East. Even Tank Davis says something negative about the fight going into Saudi.

Funny how large amounts of money can make people do that  . The beef between Hearn and Warren was purely egotistical and it's not difficult to move past that when there was no real issues other than clash of personalities and a bit of jealousy from competition as they're always vying for the same fighter. My money would be on Zhang too, though Wilder probably knows he can't just show up to this lazily like he did against Parker. It's probably going to be a matter of who lands that huge shot first. So odd makers are leaning on Zhang as a clear favorite and I do agree. And Wilder could have issues fighter who is left handed in the early part of the fight against Luis Ortiz. So if by chance Zhang hit him in the first couple of rounds, and soften Wilder, maybe he could take him out in rounds 5-8.

But if Zhang can't score or hit his money punch, Wilder could extend this in a full 12 rounds and Zhang might not have the gas tank to survived.

Yep, that's true, it's no longer the prime version of Wilder, and as we have seen on him, somewhat that lost to Fury did take a lot of toll on him mentally and he is not the same boxer after that.

The cause of the postponement is ruptured meniscus

A torn meniscus is a painful, but treatable, knee injury.
There are 3 bones in the knee. These are the femur, tibia, and patella. The ends of those bones are covered with cartilage. This smooth material cushions the bone and allows the joint to move easily without pain. The cartilage acts as a shock absorber. Between the bones of the knees are 2 crescent-shaped disks of connective tissue, called menisci. These also act as shock absorbers to cushion the lower part of the leg from the weight of the rest of the body.

Age has something to do with this based on one article and this is treatable but it will take 3 to 6 weeks or 3 to 6 months due to the severity of the rupture or tear so it is possible that the fight could happen before the end of the year, its unfortunate but since Bivol is healthy and it will take Beterbiev to heal he can still maybe we will see a Beterbiev against Benavidez since Benavidez is now campaigning in the light heavyweight.

Latest update is Bivol will still remain in the card and the promotion is looking for a worthy opponent and there is a big possibility that David Morell will get in the picture to fight Bivol, we all know that Morrell will is scheduled to fight Radivoje Kalajdzic fans would like to see that one its a great match up if Morrell skip that fight and go for the title right away

It would be better for boxing fans, Bivol, and His Excellency if Morrell (10-0, 9 KO KOs) skipped the idea of fighting the 32-year-old Kalajdzic and went after the main WBA 175-lb title on June 1st. It wouldn’t be much time for the 26-year-old Morrell and Bivol to prepare, but if the money is good, it would be worth it.

I think Bivol can choose to fight and don't need to wait for Beterbiev to heal as it is months and you don't want to be inactive that long. Bivol can get a busy fight, and fight lesser opponents, or just look for huge fight to defend his belt.

Was the battle against Sasaki Kojiro was where Musashi arrived on a small boat going to the shore, carrying a long wooden baseball bat with sharp edge? This just came out 18 hours ago, as I am posting this Bivol will face a guy named Malik Zinad he is undefeated in 21 fights with16 knockouts but only ranked number 9 in the standing, he gained that number of knockouts because he's fighting patsies, I don't think Bivol will have a hard time disposing of this guy but at least he can keep himself busy while waiting for Beterbiev to recuperate.

The postponement is unfortunate, it deprived the boxing community of the excitement in the Light Heavyweight division, but because this is already a done deal, they will hopefully face this year.

Of course, Zinad is nothing close to Beterbiev, but he's willing to put his "zero" on the line and fight the biggest name in the light heavyweight. He got that injury through his training, Beterbiev is one of the boxers who takes training seriously some of this training is lower body conditioning and involves lifting weights and a lot of foot and leg movements he concentrates a lot on leg conditioning because this is where his power comes whenever he throws his combinations, which is why he is prone to a leg injury.

Beterbiev may have forced himself too much because he is fighting an undefeated champion who likes him is fighting for a legacy; because of this injury and Bivol fight, Bivol could become the favourite because of the continuity of his condition, whereas Beterbiev needs to recuperate and get back to training, there were instances where fighters loses his power and slow down his movement because of surgery I hope it will not be the case for Beterbiev.

Right, right now it looks 50/50 for the oddmakers, and if Bivol looks good and sharp against Zinad and maybe win by a knockout or impressive domination, then he will be the favorite again, but this time no longer break even.

And so after the recovery, that will be the time that he can go back to the gym again and more time to be back 100% and most likely he will be aged again at 40 years old.
