Finally, the 175 division will be fully unified soon. I voted for Bivol to win by decision. But only because Beterbiev is past his prime although still very capable of beating world-class fighters. Bivol has underrated power and he needs to get the respect of Beterbiev if he wants to survive.

There will be some factors that matter here like the size of the ring. Bivol prefers a bigger one so he can move well and utilize his skills while the 3-belt champion Beterbiev would love a smaller ring so it is easier for him to engage.

And the Saudi host already has someone in his mind for the winner of this fight, lineal cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia.

I based my prediction on how they performed in their last fight and so far Beterbiev has shown a better performance

Take a look at his recent fight against Callum Smith
Artur Beterbiev Crushes Callum Smith at Home | FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS

And Bivol's latest fight
FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS | Dmitry Bivol vs. Lyndon Arthur

Lyndon Arthur lasted 12 rounds against Bivol while Beterbiev punished and eventually knocked Callum Smith in the fourth round and Smith is way better than Arthur
so from this, Beterbiev looks better than Bivol but of course, style makes a fight we have to see this on the night of the fight.

These are just our analysis based on their previous match but it doesn't guarantee that will be the result in the actual fight. Just like most of the boxing fans here, I'm also rooting for Beterbiev to win because I think he is the better and more entertaining fighter, his age doesn't matter because all his fights that he won is via KO, so questioning his capacity using his age as a factor is already irrelevant.

Actually, Bivol was only popular after he defeated Canelo, but it was a close one as Canelo thought he won, maybe wanted a rematch but both camps did not agree on the terms. That's why we have this undisputed fight to know who is the better between the two, so may the best boxer wins.

Right, I think Beterbiev could be the A-side here and dictate all the terms? including what you mentioned, like the ring size. But it looks like though that this two Warriors are not to look like those American boxers who like to have control of every thing, ring size, gloves that are going to be used, who comes first in the billing and others.

This are Warriors, they just want to fight and see who is gong to be the best in this division. And yeah, all the belts are going to be in the line here, so we will finally see a unification fight in the 175 lbs, best of the best.

That's the right definition of these two boxers, "warriors". They are here to fight and show to the public that they deserve to enjoy a good fight. With Beterbiev's aggressiveness, this is not going to be a boring fight and will surely entertain the fans that are watching this fight. If a fighter has a repution being entertaining, it would not be hard to market a fight, so we should watch the fight from the very start as it's possible to witness a short fight knowing their knockout power.

Yes, it's just that this fighters or the weight class is not known. But being Russians or at least Eastern European, their reputation in boxing precedes them. So this two Warriors even though come from the same country will try to get their heads off for sure.

And from what I research, we haven't had a unified LHW in the 4 belt era.

So this is going to be first and so they are also chasing history here. Last year we have Crawford 2x and then Inoue followed him as well in bantam and super bantamweight.

That'll be great for us to witness since it is the first time it happened in the history of boxing. I hope it won't be cancelled due to injuries like what happened to Fury but judging from these two serious fighters, they are not playing with their fight and they are serious about it since this is a unifying championship bout. It would be the hardest fight for both boxers since they are the end game of their era and I don't think there are others out there in their weight division capable of surviving the twelve rounds against these guys.

They are both capable of surviving boring 12 rounds both of them can also throw massive pressure on each other this is why some bettors are not confident in picking which one. But once Beterbev hurts Bivol, he'll finish him til Bivol lies on the ground. Beterbev is the finisher.

That's how the fight might go but if Bivol can outlast the pressure to tire Beterbev, it could also be his win because he has a great defense and footwork.

I wouldn't call it boring even if the fight goes to 12 rounds. Bivol fights against Canelo is not boring, there are moments when you think that Canelo will win when he pressures Bivol, but Bivol will come back with his high volume that will back down Canelo. So that kind of scenario might happen here, Beterbiev, pressuring all night, but Bivol somewhat survived that power and because of his high guard, Beterbiev will have a difficult time cracking that defense. And that's why the odds are almost even right now, we don't know what kind of scenario will happen. There are many angles, but many Beterbiev uses his power and then Bivol  throws a high number of punches,  various angles, in order to overwhelm Beterbiev with sheer quantity of punches causing him to be defensive most of the times.

Yes, I also can't remember when was the last time a LHW belt has been unified. And this could be the first time that we are going to witnessed it in our era and so it's good. And thanks to Saudi as well, for sure they have offered big money in order for this fight to happen. Top Rank and Match Room, Arum and Eddie Hearn has been in verbal tussle. But then they know that this is a money fight and so they put aside their quarrels and again, with the back up of the Saudi's for sure they will get the money that they want in this fight or even more. So we will see who's going to win, I know it's very hard to predict but if we have our favorite here, then for sure a ML might be enough for now as the stake is almost 50:50 and it's like 1.8x odds.

...

No, the fight against Canelo is not close, it was just the judges who thought that it was close and so they try to rob Bivol. But they can't because obviously, Bivol is dominating that fight and it's going to be very difficult for them to overcome the score and make Canelo the winner. Bivol is also popular, the problem is that their division doesn't have that much attention, as it was the 147 lbs, 168 lbs by Canelo and the Heavyweight division that is more well-known weight classes in boxing. But now we will see the best of the LHW division, both undefeated and all belts in the line. And the odds shows that this is break even.

Exactly, it's crazy how these ring officials try to rob victories out of the fighters who worked hard and risked their lives. It was a total domination by Bivol, even casuals could easily identify the winner.

175 dropped in popularity after Calzaghe and Ward retired and these Russians do not have huge followers, especially in the Americas and the western world. But hardcore fans watch title fights and great match-ups, whether popular or not while casuals only follow the popular ones like Canelo, Jake Paul, KSI, Tank, Ryan Garcia, etc.

Beterbiev is a beast but it is obvious that he is not the same as years ago and that gives Bivol a better chance of winning. I've seen Bivol got hurt and we will see if Beterbiev has enough of what's left in him to do that. Age is always a factor. We cannot only consider age as a factor when a fighter loses. Many legendary fighters can still win late in their careers but it doesn't mean they are still in their prime.

Yes, Calzaghe and Ward, these two are one of the great as LHW division, and there was even a tournament if I can remember it right, Carl Froch, Arthur Abraham, it was a great super 6 series. But after that, the popularity of this division goes down, no American since Andre Ward was able to dominate it. There were even talks that Ward coming off from retirement and fighting Canelo Alvarez. But obviously it was just a noise as Ward like Thurman loves being a boxing commentator and never get back in the right.
But for now, it's these two Russians that are dominating the division. We might see another Mexican in Benavidez if he decided to move up and mix it up with Bivol and Beterbiev.

Exactly, and I think in his last fight, Beterbiev is showing off his age, against Yarde, it was very close going to that 8 round and I think he was behind in 2 of the judges. It's that Yarde doesn't have the gas tank in that fight.

And there are controversial results as well in his blood testing during the Callum Smith fight,

Quote
A minor controversy arose earlier this week when it was revealed that Beterbiev, the unified light heavyweight champion, had elevated levels of HGH and testosterone in his blood and urine from tests administered by Voluntary-Anti-Doping Association in mid-December.

https://www.boxingscene.com/team-beterbiev-on-drug-testing-concerns-ahead-smith-fight-whats-rich-this-coming-from-eddie-hearn--180665

I'm not a sports science expert, but for me he might be taking THT and that's why even at his age, he is still that strong and his body is always in shape even at his age. Again, this is just my opinion.

With this news, will in impact the upcoming fight of these two champions? The testing was during the fight between Callum Smith and Beterbiev, so if he was tested with whatever they found, for sure it's not a violation because the fight concluded, or was it the result only shown after the fight? If so, what was the action of Callum's camp on that matter, and the league in overall?

Anyone seen the shift here?

Bivol is now the slight favorite 1.84 against 1.90 for Beterbiev, last time I check it was all even at 1.89. Maybe there's some huge bettor and put a big money on Bivol causing this swing. But still not as big as backer of Beterbiev can do the same and so it will go back to 50/50.

For the supposedly failed drug test of Beterbiev, it's inconclusive, VADA result shows "atypical" findings of of HGH and testosterone.

That is true, Bivol is now slightly leading over Beterbiev. But it can easily shift to Beterbiev again. I would go for Beterbiev here. Let us see how this will progress once the fight is getting near. Seems that how they will train for this fight would be a big factor on what we will see inside the ring.

We still have a long way to go for this fight anyway. So we may see further shifting of odds here. But this goes to show that the boxing fans are also split here, seeing it as 50/50 chance for both.

I have little knowledge about dopings but Beterbiev was given the go signal which means he passed the VADA test. And I believe VADA is the strictest when it comes to doping tests.

Maybe they saw something not normal in Beterbiev's body but still not illegal. What I heard from the past though is that the Russians have the best laboratories and technology when it comes to hiding doping substances. Same reason why Russia was blocked during the last Olympics.

Anyways, hopefully, both fighters are clean and the fight must go on. It's just a shame Beterbiev only has the chance for the undisputed at this stage of his career. He won against Usyk in the amateurs and gave him hell during their 3 encounters which saw the Ukrainian legend struggle, knocked down, and hurt even with helmets on.

Beterbiev lives and trains in Canada. I am not concerned about possible doping simply because of his nationality. He is a freak athlete, which is rare for a 39 year old, but so is LeBron James who is the same age. People having suspicions about one athlete but not the other seems like a double standard.

The atypical finding in Beterbiev’s result is a non-issue, that only got as much attention as it did is because Eddie Hearn was trying to make it seem like a big deal. Of course, if the shoe was on the other foot and one of his fighters had an atypical result he would’ve been downplaying it like he has with Whyte, Benn, and Baumgardener, who are probably actual cheaters that have been let off the hook due to Matchroom’s cozy relationship with sanctioning organizations.

Yeah, I read about the findings, but still if the experts of this can't even identify what substance he used (if he ever had one), then it shouldn't be a problem for now. Unless Beterbiev and his team has some sort of masking agent that the VADA itself hasn't found out.

Maybe it was just a consumption of something that he didn't know he take. But it's just a question whether we believed it or not.

But for now, it's inconclusive as per VADA, so this fight should be a go.

That's good news that it wasn't a hindrance for the fight to continue. However, I find it malicious, as it could discredit Beterbiev a bit if he wins. The opposing camp might use it to create controversy, suggesting that Beterbiev won because he was using an illegal enhancing drug. Since not everyone is aware of this, some might not think that Beterbiev is winning in a clean fight.

Anyway, let's wait for the outcome of the fight. At least, we know what could possibly happen. I'm still rooting for Beterbiev despite this news.

This is just a big question mark for Beterbiev at this point, again, I'm no expert, but maybe those found in him are not PED, but most likely some testosterone replacement. Anyhow, it VADA clears him, then it's good. But in this fight there could also be drug testing, so we will see if they will find the same result or he is clean with no atypical findings.

The odds is still the same for now, Bivol is the slight favorite, only ML is available yet, but for sure we will more options specially the KO odds for Beterbiev.
