The present bull run seems to be dominated by Bitcoin and it's already taking too long without a corresponding rise in price among the notable altcoins.

The cryptocurrency market is a chain that rolls together and Bitcoin being the main coin has an influence on the market and whatever happens with the cryptocurrency chain,  Bitcoin will be the first to react to it most especially when it concerns General market conditions,  such as news,  whenever there is either good news or bad news in the cryptocurrency community,  Bitcoin is the first to react then followed by altcoin, the reason why bitcoin seems to be the sole propeller of the market.

For that,  we have to take note of what we expect from the market and if you want to invest then you should hold coins that move in that similar chain direction to be in a good position when the market takes a new turn.

Perhaps my own logic behind the occurrence of an altcoin season following a bitcoin bull run is that investors are exploring additional opportunities, hoping for better returns from altcoins. During an altcoin season, it appears that certain whales are active in this market, so it's advantageous if we can buy at lower prices before they drive up the value. The only altcoin I would suggest keeping an eye on is ethereum since it holds the position of the second largest cryptocurrency after bitcoin. I wouldn't advise considering other altcoins due to their high risk.

The way I feel about the altcoin bull market is that once bitcoin has truly entered a major bull trend (possibly the formation of a new BTC ATH), then we will see a shift in the flow of money about altcoins more (BTCD may be applicable).

But choosing the best altcoin will depend on each person's research, specifically I like ETH, BNB, DOT,... If you think too deeply about what is causing the market to buy or sell, then you might not be able to know the actual reason for the move in some cases. The same thing is applicable to the cryptocurrency market, though enough is known to cause its movements, yet the market psychology at which cryptos move surprisingly at times is often not known.

Well, about your context, let me say that it all starts from the halving. This is the tradition in Bitcoin which buyers are now taking advantage of. After the halving, investors believe that the motive is to increase the demand for Bitcoin to make it scarce, and this in turn is bringing in more money into the coin (more demand). However, it gets to a stage where investors will look beyond Bitcoin when they realise that it has been effectively pumped, which is why the altcoins will gain more attention at that time. I joined this space 2021 and I haven't witnessed any altcoin season. I don't know how it looks like. Does it mean altcoins will be firing and leave bitcoin behind? Is such a thing even possible. Investors first put money in btc which called btc bull season and when btc reach to maximum price then investors start migrating some btc to other coins where alts season start. This time I observed that btc and alt season going in same time. In the last six months all major coins along with btc pumped well and still moving upward.

I think we have to focus on layer 2 projects like Arbitrum, Optimism, Zeta  and some staking proof of stake coins like Atom, Dymensions. You can also research on new gaming projects also.

In most cases, it happens like that, you will find out that bitcoin season or bullrun will first proceeds and then the altcoins season follows, but there are few instances that it doesn't really work like that, bitcoin can emerge rising fast while the altcoins are not performing well at all, and it do happens also that the altcoins are rising and the bitcoin market not making cognitive performances, things falls apart sometimes, but the most common one we have and do see happen is from the first scenario of bitcoin taking the lead while others follows.
