The Big Question

Who Is Really At Fault?

Have you noticed that whenever someone complain or there is an incident of scam they is always a role that was played by the person in that happening, either they failed to be security conscious or they were totally ignorant, and when you look at it the scammer never forced them to comply, this people willingly fell for their trick (Now to be clear I'm not saying scammers are right or saints, I'm pointing to the fact that we are responsible for ourselves, so enough of that shitty excuse, yeah the Internet would be a safer place without scammers but there are here, so deal with it)

There are lots of crypto investors that are well educated, have a good job and a higher level of exposure than even most scammers, but they chose to enter into the crypto space irresponsibly and they inevitably get scammed and at times lose huge sums of money or even life savings. Last bull run there was this Elon musk swap scam that was on and someone lost 10 bitcoins to it and even other cases where people have gotten scam through crypto ads or crypto exchanges that shut down and all this would have been prevented in a way.

In conclusion
there are numerous experiences and stories of people getting scammed and it wasn't as tho a high class hacker went into the blockchain or stole their seed phrase, they literally gave them their money, I think no matter the new app with added security or software, people would still fall into scam as long as they chose to remain ignorant and disregard security consciousness, we can not protect anyone's holding for them, no matter how many treads on security and how to avoid scams are introduced, at the end of the day its a personal responsibility and each person must play their role in their safety.

With crypto you gotta have high standards when it comes to safe guarding it. There are crazy scams all the time and so elaborate that even some bitcoin devs fall for them.

It's so funny how people would be so careless in the crypto space, and you would wonder if there knew what they were doing, it's decentralization for God's sake which means you are responsible for yourself you can't go around messing with what you have;

  • your safety is in your hands
  • your improvements is also in your hands

I think if more people accept that it's their responsibility to protect and safeguard themselves and also filter the information they consume, we would have a reduce in the amount of scam that happens.

Firstly, I don't think there is any need for the big question in bold, here. Because obviously you're not disputing the fact that not only one plays the role in scam rather the both party does.

It's very much obvious that both the scammers and the scammed plays a very big role in every scam case but the fact that this scammers are just so greed not to go work for their own money rather prefer to take from people who have worked for themselves, that's the only place I blame this scammers hence, I thing the people scammed in the crypto space especially with the Ponzi scheme scam are truly at fault for there lost coins. Greed plays a major role in this scam case most victims are very greedy to the extent of risking their money to get more with someone who you don't even know.

It's just poor to see such scenarios but it's true that both party plays a very big role in every scam, but we pray circumstances don't befall us hence we could be save in the crypto space, because for sure there is no 100% safe place in the internet.

Yeah they played a big role in fooling you and also held your hands and forces you to send your bitcoin to them, then you go around screaming I was scammed, doesn't that sound lame to you, the truth is that your were ignorant, careless and failed to be security conscious, yeah your so busy crying out for decentralization and most you don't know what that really means, you in fucking control, no one is responsible for you but yourself, and scammers know that and that's why they exploit the shit out of you, if it's so fun been ignorant your free and can continue blaming the mirror for showing you how ugly you are than applying some make up.

If more people realise that decentralized systems isn't like a banking or centralized system were you can go and report a transaction and they seize the persons money or track the person( although its possible if they are not smart enough) then you would be more careful when doing deals here.

We cannot blame the fraudsters as they are inhumane and lacks the humanity else they won't be cheating and robbing innocent and foolish people. I think we need to be very cautious but still there are chances users can be fooled at least expected platforms I see everyday people are getting scammed through the fake e-commerce sites and all. This has to be stopped which is possible with only harsh punishment for the preparators else they will keep on figuring out new way to fool us. We need strong cybersecurity and anti scan system in place the scammers should be traced and punished.

Have you noticed that whenever someone complain or there is an incident of scam they is always a role that was played by the person in that happening

It happens but not in all cases, you kept your property in your care is quite different from when you lost it out of carelessness or when someone came in and attack you just to steal you money from you, most of the people you see often loose their assets lack the practice of the security measures expected from them to use in shielding over their asset and this scammers uses such weakness to attack them, this is also very common to newbies in mot cases, if you know that you have something that you cherish, then don't wait till you're been attacked before doing something to protect yourself.

Well, when all those kinds of ugly incidents happen, there is no need to start casting blame to who is at fault and who is not at fault, there is no one who is above the mistake. The fact is that little mistakes can lead to great or little damage to one's security, and if the person doesn't act fast, they may lose all or some of their assets.

No matter any situation of scam, the victim can already tell if it's their fault or not, and once they have discovered it's their fault, they will learn from such mistakes, living by them and never allowing themselves to repeat such mistakes again because if such a situation repeats itself, then it will be counted as foolishness and no longer a mistake.

What usually leads to some people becoming victims of scammers is a lack of awareness, a lack of proper orientation about security, carelessness, etc. Like people would say, "one thing leads to another." Some might not be properly oriented about something, and when they fall victim to scammers, it becomes their fault.

You should know that most times these fraudsters have the ability to manipulate your ! mentality and scam you. So when someone falls victim of fraud, it's not only because they were irresponsible or not security conscious but also because they were tricked. The truth is that anyone can fall victims of scam. Even those we might think are experts may also be vulnerable to scam. There might be little doors that may grant access to these hackers, scammer to get your funds. As an investor, you should be able to secure your funds at all cost and this can only be achieved by constantly being updated with security tips. Avoid anything that looks too good to be true. Don't link your funded account to unknown sites.

It is not every victim that knows how to take responsibility and acknowledge the fact that their nonchalant attitude with security contributed to the fact that they got scammed. Scammers often look for people who are careless with their security because these people are the easiest people to attack and steal from.

Before we blame the fraudsters, we should first accept responsibility for out failure to stay updated with security.

The fraudsters are looking for ways to earn money just like any other person. That is why they set out some tricks to get ignorant and uneducated newbies to scam. We cannot blame them since they did not force us to give them our money or information related to our wallets. They only try their luck in the form of traps, and most people who get scammed fall for it.People who are new to cryptocurrency are mostly eager to invest due to FOMO; as a result, they skip the learning process and begin to complain when they get scammed.
Newbies need to have patience and learn before starting any form of crypto investment because it is risky. They can lose money to scammers with just a single mistake, so newbies should hold on to learn first before anything.

People get scammed in the crypto space and in every other sectors mainly due to negligence or inexperience, either of these reasons will give scammers the opening to take advantage of loopholes to defraud their victims. The worse case will be for someone to be scammed as a result of inexperience, despite your intelligence, you can still be scammed in something that you're not familiar with, that is why you need to be careful about any offers or directions on social media. Don't click or believe anything or information that you're not familiar with, ignore or research first before engaging in them.

There is no justification for what scammers trying to do in the first place.

Alongside the victim should be blamed too for falling into the pitfalls they have created, it could be avoided if they paid little more attention in most of the cases, so both parties are at the fault.

Don't put all fraudsters in one basket.

When it comes to shitcoin pumpers who promise something out of nothing, you, the investor, are to blame. A great example here is bitconnect, but also many other scam projects that were invented to such value out of bitcoin, like BSV. If you buy and hold these coins you are to blame.
Every coin has 2 sides though and there are scams that were supposed to be legit companies like FTX and many other failed exchanges (Gox, Quadriga). I don't think you can blame the client for using a popular exchange that looks legit, sponsors celebrities and events and has been around for years. In such case I blame the fraudster for fooling everyone.

Some of you will say that you should always keep your coins in your wallet and centralized exchanges are a vulnerability and that's true, but you can't expect everyone to withdraw instantly. People will leave coins on exchanges for 24 hours and consider it a fast and safe trade. What if you're unlucky and that's when the exchange collapses? Gox at first was delaying withdrawals for weeks, so it's not like you could exit at any moment.

Whoa, let's take a step back for a minute.  Are we really saying it's the victim's fault if they get scammed? That would be like blaming someone who gets jumped in a dark alley for walking there in the first place.

Look, scammers can be super crafty and manipulative.  They always look for new ways to take advantage of people.  But we cant expect everyone to be experts on how to avoid being tricked and  sure, education helps. But the responsibility can't all be on the potential victim to outsmart every nasty scam out there.  We should be calling out the scammers, not blaming people who get fooled.

We need strong cybersecurity and anti scan system in place the scammers should be traced and punished.
for me I will say that it is a humans that promote fraudulent activities to the society so I believe that what causes the art of scam is due to We Are Over interested and overwheling to get what we know quite well that cannot be easy to be achieved with the such strategies a normal circumstances a scammers does not have a conscience only thing that have to offer you is to take away the one that you have achieved because there are interested to enrich themselves with the others sweat, so that is why when you look at them you minimize your way of being greedy or being interested to make money with a small amount of capital.

It's not as easy and simple as you are trying to put it. When someone gets scammed, they don't just give their money away to someone who comes to them asking for it. As said by other members, they have manipulative approaches and they will trick you in ways that you wouldn't understand that you are getting scammed. I know you can prevent that from happening if you have had similar encounters in the past, but if it's your first time and you don't see anything shady at that moment, you are most likely going to fall for it. And remember, a third person would know it's a scam if they are told but when a person is stuck in such a situation, they won't be able to easily identify that they are getting scammed.

Scammers are expert in their craft, and you would know it when you face it yourself. I was once getting scammed on Telegram. I was working with an agency, the scammer contacted me as the head of our team, and believe me, he had set his account in such a way that you wouldn't even realize that it is someone else. He asked me to lend him some money because he isn't able to access his account at that moment. I almost fell for it until I realized I already had an open chat window with the guy and it is not him.

The point is, they make situations where it becomes difficult for you to evaluate what's happening quickly, and by the time you realize that, they have already done their work and there is nothing you can do after that point.

As far as crypto currency is concerned, scams will never do away, and scammers can not be blamed for having someone fall a victim to their tricks, for this is same thing like setting a trap in the bush to catch a rat, in the end, some rats may see that trap, see what is there as food to lure it in, and still pass because, it's instinct tells it that it's a trap, while another rat may come around, seeing it's a trap, but won't possibly recognize it because, it's mind, body and soul is fixed on that food which the trap setter had put on the trap to lure the rat in, and unfortunately, this rat will go for that food and eventually fall into the trap, now, do we blame the trap setter for catching and killing a rat?, No, but we blame the rat for not being wise enough to know that that was a trap.

This is what happens to many people who fall victim to various type of scam, there is always something that the scammers use to lure their victims in, since they can't attack their victims physically with a gun and other weapons to forcefully steal from them, they set traps, and who ever falls into any of those traps have him or herself to blame, why, because we ought to understand the market we are in, and constantly keep ourselves up to date everything including security of our funds.

Scam is of different class from hack, because scam have to do with the victim playing in to the scammers trap, while hack can happen in a software which is out of the victims control some times.
So we have to specify which we are talking about, if it scam then we can say that it sometimes requires the involvement and role of the victims and in most cases is either facilited by the gullibility of the victims or play out the greed of the victims, but hacks is a different ball game entirely.

In most cases we are to blame, which is unfortunate, but true. There's just a few golden rules to holding bitcoin and it's really easy to follow them. Don't hold bitcoin on any centralized platforms, make sure your coins are offline and secure, don't trust but verify and don't shitcoin. I've never heard of anyone who owned a hardware wallet and was careful with bitcoin and still lost money to scammers.
I've been around since 2014 and I still have coins bought at that time. I've never been scammed and the only time I got close was when I was researching cloud mining and stuff.

Have you noticed that whenever someone complain or there is an incident of scam they is always a role that was played by the person in that happening, either they failed to be security conscious or they were totally ignorant, and when you look at it the scammer never forced them to comply, this people willingly fell for their  trick.
Whether we want to blame fraudsters or not, it doesn't seem to have any influence on them. They will continue to carry out their mission to reap profits and get as much money as possible as long as they can and don't get caught. yes because this may be part of their "profession". I say profession because this is [a job they do, deliberately and also managed very well.

Moreover, they also understand that there are still many people they can easily deceive. the people who are:
- Greedy
- Want to get rich instantly
- Easy to panic
- FOMO
- Without knowledge

And perhaps there are many other types of people who are very easily deceived and fall into the trap of fraudsters. And here it's not a matter of whether they are wrong or not, it's just what they did. And they take advantage of the conditions of these people to gain profit.

What we have to do is make sure we avoid various frauds and scams. because they won't stop even though we blame them so much.

Behind each scam or hack, there is a story. Due to our irresponsibility, most of the scams are happening. They aren't physically attacking us. They have just been using some tricks, and we are falling for them. That's how we hand over our funds to scammers or hackers. Human means most of us are greedy, which drives us to lose our funds. When we see something lucrative, we usually jump on it, though there is risk. We don't want to research it very well and end up losing funds. Millions have been scammed every year due to our carelessness. If we don't want to help ourselves, then no one will help us.

Of course the scammers still have responsibility over the crime but I do agree.

Some people are too foolish that you can’t even find it in yourself to feel bad for them. If one is always losing money because of their carelessness, no one else is to blame but them. Likewise, we all should stay vigilant and try our best to protect our assets.

Do remember the idiomatic expression - " It takes two to tango." So we can't blame the fraudster alone why such incident is happening. A lot of scamming activities are owed to the greediness of people. Hoping that they will get rich quick, and so they will fall to the bait of these fraudsters.

So every fraud has a story and we can learn from it. But if it will be repeated again and again, then, that's what you call madness. I understand people are after for the quick money, but they need to know where it is coming from, if they are being compromised with the situation.
