forex trading is a skill that traders gain when they practice technical analysis, fundamentals, money management, etc. it is not a hobby that can be done by someone, like gambling, because trading and gambling are 2 different things. if someone treats forex trading like their hobby, then they are not doing it right in trading, because trading is a skill and someone is doing it right because they are passionate about it.

I think we have to classify it as a skill since one can not just wake up one day and start trading. It is a skill because we have to earn from people that are traders for us to learn the skill. Since not everyone can successfully trade in the crypto market even when many learnt the skill, we can to see it as a skill. I know their are minor traders that only trade in the market without understanding the market.
Some only relent on getting signals for them to trade and we need to understand how trading really works.

Forex is one of the trading instruments that is much older than crypto and maybe it can be called the beginning of the investment revolution than rice . If you can make money consistently from forex trading then it is a skill. If you can’t, then it is a hobby. Tbh I don’t know anyone in real life who is making money from forex so and I don’t think I can be that person so I think it is not a skill which I can learn. I heard some people are making money trading forex but I have no idea how they do that.

I had a friend who used to be a fan of forex trading and he did make money, for a while and then his account was liquidated. After seeing his performance I decided to steer clear of it.

Let's put it this way. Have you seen someone that is working in a particular field, he go to work everyday and does all his work perfectly but if you ask him if he loves the job he is doing and he will tell you No, that's what skill and jobs are, it has two side, a person can loves his job and becomes a hobby and may decide to do the job without any love for it.

If you are very good in trading with adequate skills necessary to make money, you will cherish any good times that you spent in it. Trading is something that cant really be considered to be a fun thing on which we know that this is really just that basically a thing that you would really be needing to be serious because trading is something that
needs to be that totally focused on whatever analysis that you could really make of. You cant really just that make yourself that having positions on which we know that this is something that needing to be done
carefully because dealing up with a random or unpredictable market is never been that easy in the first place. I experience forex trading, and my experience is not good because I lose many times, and that's when I realised that I was treating forex trading asa way to get money, meaning I didn't treat it as a hobby. That's why I don't invest in honing my skills in trading forex. So I think if you treat trading forex as a hobby, then youtreat trading forex as a hobby, then you will not have the urge to enhance your skills in trading. I never tested Forex yet but it looks like it is similar to futures trading where the ratio can be 1:1  or 1:3 which is pretty risky.
I do spot trading in crypto what I can say it needs technical skills to read the chart without a skills you will lose your capital so for me, Forex is pretty risky if it works like future trading but if not then trading on Forex can be used with technical skill and use forex only for a hobby I don't think that's a good idea without a skill. 

All types of trading risk Forex trading behaves like crypto futures trading because leverage can be taken here.  Although the price of crypto fluctuates a lot so the liquidation here is very fast, but in the case of Forex, because of the use of various strong currencies, its price does not fluctuate much, so the risk of liquidation is very low. Because of this, everyone is afraid of Future trading, but less afraid of Forex.  And use Forex trading. In defining hobby, two things are derived from it which are;

• Something done regularly
• Something done at the leisure

If the job applicant actually trades regularly, and they also have other jobs or things doing, such that they only trade at their leisure. This can quality trading to be a hobby to him. I doesn't matter if money is involved. It also do not matter if it is a skill. You can have a skill and use it as your main work and I have same skill and use it at leisure as a hobby.

It sounds odd but it could be true, this could be similar to all the people that enjoy their jobs so much they do not consider they are working at all, however such posture is very rare, as most people simply do their jobs because they are paid to do it, and if they were given an option to make a lot of money without any effort on their part, they will quit their jobs on the spot.

Whether a candle is green or a candle is red depends on whether you are making a profit or losing all your money. When you trade forex with certain amount of money, if the candle comes in your favor if the candle is green then you can get some amount of profit but if the candle is red then you lose all your money. I have seen forex trading practically just to know how forex trading is, but for me the trading we do with different exchanges is much safer than forex trading and our skills are very useful there. But of course, he wouldn't give you a concrete answer because he must've lied there. If I were an employer, I wouldn't employ anyone who had Forex Trading on their CV as their extracurricular activity, whether as a hobby or as a side hustle except it's a job that's related to Forex.

My reason being in two folds. One, what will someone with that type of skill be doing in an 8-5 environment? It simply means they're either lying to show off or they've not transcended past that level of mediocrity and haven't a mastery of what they claim they know. Two, they're going to use company's time to indulge their hobby if they're actually trading. You know how it's with trading. They will often want to monitor their trades and that's going to distract them from whatever their paid job description is all about.

Trading is a skill. From your definition it explains everything, it becomes hobby when you have develop and fallen in love with the habit of trading.
But firstly one .can't consider trading to be hobby unless he has acquired the skill and dedicates most his time to trading whether during leisure time or not.

Forex trading should not be viewed as a hobby because when you said something is a hobby, that is something you love doing and you can only do it on times of pleasure, so I cannot classify forex trading as a hobby but a skill because you must learn before you trade. apart individuals that have become too involved in a particular job to the extent that the love ty job and can enjoy doing it, thier is a clear difference between an hobby and a skill and trading can't fall under being called an hubby.

Trading requires an high level of analysis and that's to be carried out before one can effectively make anything out of it and as it involves money, you can't tell me you're doing trading as your hubby. What's worthy of being called an hobby should be what you do to ease off yourself after a stressful day and not what's as complex as doing trading. Maybe if the job he is applying for is related to forex then I can possibly understand the angle he is coming from and it might be that he is just trying to let you know that he is good at the Ford of a thing which makes it an hobby for him. Its not a hobby but rather its a some sort of side job even possible to make it as a source of income if you do really know on how to make yourself that be able to sustain on predicting market. We do know forex/stocks/crypto is really that giving out that opportunity for you to make profits if you do really know on how to play with the movement of prices. It do really just that differ on the assets or currencies that you are really that tending to trade on but pretty much sure that this one isnt really that can be considered as hobby. Depends on how you do it but I don't even think it should qualify as a hobby because you're risking money and there's no way that you do that with a hobby.

How come? There are a lot of hobbies that people have where they spend a lot of money because they simply like doing those things no matter whether it's a sport, a game, involvement in a financial market, buying and selling certain items, collecting items, and a bunch of other stuff that people do as hobbies and a lot of such hobbies would require the person to spend money on it.

You are confusing yourself. You said that doing forex trading as a hobby will make someone incur big losses. While there are many newbies traders that will do forex trading as a hobby because they're starting out but they'll surely develop a skill if they learn from their losses.
And even with the old traders, they're doing trading as a passion and hobby. It all goes out that they can make money with it whether they do it as a hobby or normal activity and they're doing all of it because they're skilled.
