Gambling is becoming a popular thing in my locality almost everyone gamble and even colleagues gamble and engage in gambling related discussions at work,  so gambling is legal and very popular so there is no Shame in using part of a salary to gamble with that is why I am asking the question of what the right percentage from my salary that I should use to gamble?

I don't think there will be a generally accepted answer to this question because people's salaries are not the same and so also their needs and responsibilities. These are the factor that determine how much can be injected into gambling without feeling depressed when it is lost. Some people can put 20% of their income and still be good whereas there are people that will put 5% and will be worried. Whatever be the case, I think a 2.5% of income injected will not make anyone broke. It is small but huge for sizeable for gambling provided the gambling will be diligent to build it systematically to something magnificent.

If we talk about income then maybe we can see how the difference between the income of the rich and the poor where the difference must be quite significant but still if we talk about how much money should be allocated to gambling then of course it is recommended to put an amount that we can afford or an amount that will not make you feel upset or depressed if in the end you lose, in my opinion 20% is too large a percentage to inject in gambling, and usually the largest amount I bet is between 5% - 7% of my total monthly income and this allocation does not cause any problems at all to my finances.

It depends on the amount that the gambler receives as salary and it also depends on how much the person spends on daily weekly and monthly expenses. If the gambler is a person that doesn't have any responsibility he can choose to gamble with 10% of his monthly income, but if the person is a type of gambler that have a responsibility and his salary is not much to be enough for him in a ways that he can be able to save at least 20% to 30% he might choose to wager low amount while gambling.

It really depends on your financial obligations as that will determine on how much percentage you are willing to allocate on your gambling expenses.

So let us say 100% is your salary, you have to at least allocate 60% to your obligations especially if you have a family that you need to provide. Also, you have to include all the expenses for your family and dues that you will have to pay. The other 20% will always be allocated to your savings and the other 10% will be allocated  to your personal needs. Probably and in my opinion, you should at least allocate 5-10% of your whole income every month for your gambling needs.

So in conclusion, the computation will be as follows:

• 60% = monthly obligations that includes all the dues payable and family needs;
• 20% = savings for the future;
• 10% = personal expenses for yourself or your family; the value could be adjusted depending on your needs; and
• 10% = gambling expenses.

I don't think you should be gambling because gambling has become a new niche for people to make money and just because it's popular doesn't mean is something you will want to try. The question I want to ask you is this, do you know how to gamble and what type do you do? Is it casino or sport betting? I will presume is sport betting since you said locality but there is more to sport betting though, you can't just venture into sporty betting if you don't follow the leagues.

As for the amount, always gamble with what you know you can afford to lose, if you can afford to lose your salary then you are more than welcome and if it's some fraction you can let's go, it's fine but know that as you are thinking of making back the money, you are likely to lose that same money either you are good in predictions or bad because you can't be right all the time.

Always invest as much as you can afford to loose . So it not depends on your salary it depends on you what you can spends on that month for your gambling. Suppose you earn 2000 dollar per month and your need with the food to rental is about 1900 then I think you should invest 5 dollar ! Yes I agree with your assumption about how much to bet on gambling, as you said if the person has an income of $1000 per month then the best money is to bet $10 of the salary on gambling but try to use the amount within a month before you get a salary again, or that means $10 for one month, because if $10 is only for one session then I think in the end it is clear that in a month they will definitely gamble more than once which means they have to spend more than $10, so the point is to set the amount for gambling expenses within a month before you get a salary again next month.

basically we work to be able to meet our needs for one month, gambling is actually our own right, but what we have to pay attention to is that we have to be able to balance which money to use for needs or to throw away in terms of daily snacks such as gambling is one of them. when we have income generated from our own hard work,  we must use it in a good way it is not recommended to risk all the income generated from work, because gambling can only make us lose money, not make money. We must be able to separate money for needs and for things that are not too important.

If gambling had absolutely no risk of losing then obviously it would be fine if you wanted to allocate all the salary you have or even borrow from a service to fund your habit, but however gambling can never be separated from the possibility of losing because it will always be a part of gambling or losing will always be inherent in gambling and can never be eliminated.
