so gambling is legal and very popular so there is no Shame in using part of a salary to gamble with that is why I am asking the question of what the right percentage from my salary that I should use to gamble?
In essence, humans have their own understanding and way of thinking in using part of their money/salary to use for gambling bets, that's for sure.
In my understanding of gambling, but my salary is never involved and used in gambling, I like to use my side money in gambling and I have done that for several years, of course I am satisfied and don't need to worry if I lose.

But you and I definitely have different opinions.
My advice.
If you want to take a percentage of your salary to bet, you should adjust it to the salary you get per month, for example you have a monthly salary of €1500, Of course you can use it to gamble, at least 3% includes shopping for yourself, more than that in my understanding will be detrimental to yourself or your family.

The point is, adjust the monthly salary you get in your country and remember, don't exceed 3%.

Don't force yourself to gamble too much if you still don't have enough for your daily needs. This will make you even more miserable for your life in the future. Don't expect too much that you can find additional income there, it's better for you to think about more useful things such as saving your money rather than gambling. If you have enough money from saving to open a business, it would be better for you to focus on that.

Gambling is becoming a popular thing in my locality almost everyone gamble and even colleagues gamble and engage in gambling related discussions at work,  so gambling is legal and very popular so there is no Shame in using part of a salary to gamble with that is why I am asking the question of what the right percentage from my salary that I should use to gamble?
There is no right percentage in my opinion, it all depends on how much you earn and how much you can afford to channel into gambling. We all earn different amounts and we all have different problems and responsibilities so all these affects the percentage a person can put into gambling. Even if i tell you how many percentage i put into gambling it will be of no use to you because you will have to analyze and properly evaluate your earnings and liabilities.

Regardless of how much you earn my advice for you is to put only a maximum of 5% into gambling depending on your earnings, if you don’t earn much you shouldn’t use more than 5% but if you earn much you should use like about 2%-2.5% to gamble.

that is why I am asking the question of what the right percentage from my salary that I should use to gamble?

Dont use specific percentage of your salary, why?
First, if your salary is not that big then the amount you will be able to spend on gambling is also too low.
Lets say your monthly income is $300-$500 a month and you set 1%-5%, it will be only $3-$5 to gamble.
Unless you can enjoy gambling with such a low amount, forget my opinion.
Second, if your salary is so huge per month then if you use a specific percentage, you will spend big amount as well.
For me, it is better to spend what you can afford to lose only, not depending on specific percentage of your income but after you spend your income for your real life needs first.

It sounds like the gambling you're talking about is a form of entertainment. So it should come out of the amount of money you have left after you take out cost of living, by which I mean bills, rent/mortgage and all other liabilities that take precedence over leisure.
I wouldn't worry so much about a specific %, just ensure you don't piss away money that's needed to live comfortably.

You should ask yourself what is the lowest amount of money that I can place on a bet which doesn't fall below the minimum amount of deposit set by the casino?

This lowest amount of money should be won that if you lose it over and over again you would not feel hurt or bad. When you find the answer to this question, then that is the amount from your salary that you should place on a bet.

I have nothing against the percentages but I just feel that there are also other ways that can be personalised by the gambler.

If I were you, I'd just use 10% of it to avoid problems concerning addiction and frustration. Why? Imagine losing 50% of your salary in one sitting, would you be able to accept it instantly? What's most likely to happen is for you to be upset and to try winning it back. And as we all know how gambling works, it could just cost you more. Unlike when you just lost a tolerable amount (yes, always anticipate losing as the worse outcome), at least you'd be able to accept it easily and move on to try on the next day. Winning will never be certain, and this should be an enough warning to not go all out or to not be too crazy of winning. In most instances you will be depending on your luck, which is something we have no control of. Be mindful on being preventive of situations that will bury you deep. Cliché stories of gamblers whose worlds were flipped, won't be there for a reason.

what the right percentage from my salary that I should use to gamble?
First of all you have to calculate what percentage of your wage all your fixed monthly expenses correspond to. Then, separate an extra budget for emergencies and another extra budget for leisure activities. Inside the leisure budget you will have the portion of money you can use for gambling. It's up to you to decide how much of your leisure funds you want to spend with gambling, because there must be another activities you want to practice for entertainment reasons as well, correct?

The percentage will always vary from gambler to gambler, because each individual has their own personal preferences and necessities. Some feel like they need more entertainment dosages, while others need less. It's just important to stick to the initial budget you allocated to leisure for that month, never crossing that line and never spending money you can't afford to lose. And in case your wage is fully compromised in a determined month due to fixed expenses, then don't gamble in any hypothesis. Try to organize your finances for the next months, so you can start gambling once again.

This is actually difficult cause no one here know the amount you get paid weekly or monthly secondly you’ll have to settle other necessary needs first before wanting to create a budget for gambling, you can decide to create little percentage at first , gambling is a game you play just because you feel like playing not because you saw someone gambling perfectly, I don’t think people will like to share their gambling lose but definitely you’ll have to know most times we don’t get lucky and as new gambler I feel the need informing you. You can always set a list and write down the amount you spent on gambling this week, month after creating the budget so you can know the amount you spent on gambling at the end of the year.   Bank apps also work same way, they take record of every transaction details so at the end of the month customers get to see their budget for each month, this act is just a reminder each time you gamble with huge amount

If you want to go the appropriate way, 1% of your salary is okay, but that should be if your salary is enough. Some people may not have money to spare on gambling. If you earn enough, use 1% of your weekly income to gamble.

I use 2 to 5% of my weekly income to gamble and it is good for me. It does not feel like I lose anything and sometimes I win.

         -    Here in our country, if it is applied to the 5% that you say, then the minimum wage earner here monthly is playing 300$ monthly, then the salary here is every 2 weeks, So, the 5% evey middle of the month can be played gambling

at least if he can get used to this lifestyle, I think the gambler will be able to limit his addiction in the future, and it's possible. turned out to be a responsible gambler in the end.

It should only take you some simple calculations for you to be able to determine how much of your salary you are supposed to risk at gambling, in my opinion.
You first need to determine whether your salary is constant or depends on the amount of work available for you to do. Comissions versus fixed wages.
After that, you need to calculate the monthly income and your expenses, the calculation must be in such a way you end up having saved money by the end of each month, if your amount of money by the end of each month neglectable then you are not supposed to gamble or risk money. Otherwise, you can take about 5% up to 20% (or whatever you feel comfortable with) to make your gambling budget.
It is simple math. Though, the hardest thing which comes to having a game ming budget is to keep it and stick to it regardless of how tempting it could be for your to chase losses or try to go martingale on dices.

Also, I would recommend you not to keep a record on your losses, since that will only push you to try to gamble more in order to recover money from the casino. In the end, every casino will let you know this is an entertainment industry and not a scheme to get rich fast. Be advised.

If you should stick to the Gambling phrase of staking what you can afford to lose, then It would be safe to say you can stake as much as you wish as long as you can afford losing it. This is where a lot of gamblers make mistakes and make their Gambling losses become huge just because they have the habit of over staking more than they can afford to lose. In my opinion I think one of the most important things that qualifies a gambler as a responsible one is his ability of being able to properly manage his staking habits.
Like I always say one thing on the other hand that makes people stay clear from Gambling addicts is Thier problem of staking irresponsibly. Some even to the extent that they totally run out of funds or even go bankrupt.

I usually do around 1% up to 5% of my salary for bets, like right now I have a similar situation since at work we do bets on online gambling websites on NBA games, since its Finals we do a lot of bets online and the discussions are usually about it, I mean we are all NBA fans and its surely fun to do gambling bets on something that you really like it add a thrill on it as well as make you great feeling if you win the bet to mention the potential winning, I mean with a 10$ or 20$ bet you could easily earn 100$ on some easy bets on that, I mean it's a low-risk high reward in my opinion even though it was kinda difficult to do the bets.

5% I think is still manageable in my opinion as long as you know what you are doing you could easily recover from a 5% loss even though you lose that bet, your next salary could easily recover that so I don't see any problem with that as long as your gonna gamble responsibly and moderately.

I am asking the question of what the right percentage from my salary that I should use to gamble?
this entirely depends of how much you monthly salary is and how stable is your financial security, what you should always remember is Only gamble what you can afford to lose. Even if you have a steady financial income but you can afford to lose any of it from gambling, then you should not gamble.

My advice is that before you gamble, it's better to make sure your daily needs are fulfilled first. Use your salary to meet your daily needs first and then use some for savings or investment. After you use it for daily needs and for investment or savings, then you use the rest for gambling. This would be safer in my opinion. Actually, if you ask the percentage I can't say for sure because I don't know what your salary is and what your needs are. But if you want to follow my example, after I use my salary for daily needs and investments, usually there is salary left over and I use around 10% - 20% for gambling then I use the rest of my salary for holidays with my family or just going out to eat.

Are you planning on getting into gambling because your colleagues are also gambling, or do you want to start because you want to learn a new form of recreational activity? You need to have a reason first in order to set a good limit and budget that can keep you in place.

1% of your salary is not bad; it's affordable and can't affect your financial budget if removed from it. But for a start, you might not even need to spend up to that 1% of your monthly salary; you can just spend it inside your pocket, which you carry about on a daily basis, on some gambling and see how it goes without too much expectation from it.

I think, that first of all, nobody should tell you how you should spend your salary. If you want, you can spend all of it in one single bet. Of course if you dont regret consequences later. Secondly, you should not stick to «I can spend only X percent of my salary on gambling». Spend whenever you can afford. If I were you, I would subtract all necessary monthly expenses from salary to find that one amount you can spend on fun, whether it be cinemas, gambling, outdoor activities, theatre and etc. And gamble based on that.

You should know that by yourself because you know the cost of living wherever you are right now and how much expenses do you usually pay with your salary.

We're from different places and that's why my suggestion might not fit to you but if it's just about giving a percentage then a solid 5% is already enough if you're the casual type of gambler.

But you might go further if you want to because you understand your needs and how much you're willing to lose.

From the replies that’s have already been posted here I guess you should be able to choose how much you’d like to use for your gambling activities.

The only advice I’ll give you is that you shouldn’t try to change anything isn’t the future, there are times when you’ll start experiencing wins or losses and that thought of increasing your bankroll so that you can win more will kick in. If you’re able to keep a healthy gambling lifestyle you’d be fine.

Probably just $5 if you are not open to spending more. It should just depend on how little you want to lose. When you budget some cash only for your gambling each month, it always looks like you expect to lose that amount anyway so you might as well make sure it's as little as possible.

But having a huge paycheck may also make you allocate a larger amount. I hope OP will consult his wife in case there are other plans he doesn't know yet but the wife. Everything is cool when it's all up to you but when you have a partner who should be along your side when deciding then you might have a dilemma, especially if she already knew you gamble.
