I'm wondering how much shame my country will suffer in these Olympic Games. Today we've already started to feel shame, because one of my country's athletes lost in a shameful way in the 100-meter swim.

What race was that as I didn't watch all the qualifying? Was it worse than this one:

And talking about swimming, remember this guy?

He swam the slowest time in the Olympics, managed to win the heat because the other two were disqualified, his time was too slow to progress despite winning but he got a national record! Beat this!

China is already dominating the global leaderboard

I liked some parts of the opening, but overall it was a very psychedelic and unconventional opening. It was almost like a hyperactive drag queen organized some parts. It was nice and successful that the opening ceremony was held outdoors in the city center and around the Seine river, not in the stadium. The lighting of the Olympic fire was ordinary. Honestly, it would have been a legendary event if the fire was lit at the tip of the Eiffel Tower. However, I think that placing the fire in the middle of the Tuliere garden spoiled the whole ambiance and the moment of lighting the fire was not memorable. The final of such a big event could have been bigger and more memorable. Still, I realized that I miss the elegance of the old Olympics.

The only good part about the opening ceremony was the Parade Of Nations through the Seine river on boats. Apart from that the French authorities tried to push as much as political correctness and woke behavior down the throats of the audience as possible. Christians are offended after they distorted the last supper with a performance by LGBT people. I have watched Olympics opening ceremonies from several events in the past and this was the first time it got to such a gross and diabolique display.

It is surprising that there will be breakdancing competitions at the Summer Olympics in Paris. I have always watched these dances with interest, which have now become a sport. This is a wonderful tradition and, perhaps. Someday, other dances like Brazilian capoeira will also become sports.
There will also be such an interesting sport as sport climbing.
These games are very representative, 206 Olympic national teams will participate in them, with the exception of Russia and the Republic of Belarus. Although, as they write, some Russian and Belarusian athletes will be able to take part in the games under neutral status.
It is interesting that initially such cities as Los Angeles and even Boston fought for the host city.

For Kazakhstan's Gold, it was

Kazakh judoka Yeldos Smetov won gold in the men’s final of the 2024 Paris Olympics in the weight category up to 60 kilograms today.

The only one who should be ashamed in these Olympics so far are the organizers as opening ceremony was a fucking disgrace, pushing their agenda on something that should be only about sports. It was so bad that for the first time in many years I couldn't watch it till the end.

Not really a surprise to see Australia at the top at this moment as swimming competitions alreayd started and they are always good in everything that has something to do with water. They naturally won't end up there but I see them overall finishing in top 5 or close to that (deff in top 10) which is a great result considering there's only like ~26 million of them.

Also this is just a start of the Olympic Games. The disciplines were USA and China are strong havent started yet. Not surprised to see Australia with medals, as they usually finish games with being in top10 in overall medals gained table. Just wait till swimming starts or athletics. I am more surprised to see Kazakhstan with a gold medal, as they usually get medals in boxing and weightlifting, and a bronze in judo.

Swimming games have already started and we had 4 events yesterday. Australia won 2 of gold medals and the other two were awarded to Germany and United States.

Me too. Kazakhstan won that gold medal in Judo and that was their first gold medal in history of olympics judo. They had won 4 judo medals (including 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals) in previous olympics.

Thank you for correction. Then it means that swimming just started. USA usually get a lot of medals in swimming. They usually bring 20-30 swimmers to Olympic games. I have checked out swimming timetable - everything is still to go. 33 more events to go.

I have read that France tried to clean their river Seine to make it suitable for Olympics. I have also read that some athletes claimed that they are going to take some medicine to be protected from skin and health problems after swimming there. I can already predict doping scandals due to that.

Yeah that image isn't that much inappropriate but yes, it is always better to have a warning as some may get disturbed. However, i like the performance of Celine Dion the most, in this opening ceremony.

I didn’t bother to watch that and all I heard was that they made a huge mockery of the last supper and of the Christian faith which I am offended by. It’s too bad and you shouldn’t play games with religion, especially other people’s religions views and just focus on the culture and on the actual Olympic Games. Past Olympic ceremonies have been completely wondrous!

France Gold is for the Rugby 7's yesterday in their home of Rugby Stade De France!
France should do well but its the powerhouses of USA and China which should
overtake Australia,  but they have got off to a flying start!

Besides Gold, Silver and Bronze medals there will be World records, Olympic records,
National records and personal best records broken by many athletes, they will be
happy even with that!

In the bookmakers, the United States is the big favorite, and in second place is China
I believe that will be the final result
United Statew will win many medals in athletics, gymnastics and swimming
I hope to see Brazil at least in top 10 with some gold medals in surf, skate, volleyball and canoeing
Maybe some medals in Judo and boxing

Is anyone else watching USA vs Serbia basketball game This USA team really is a scary one to be very honest, down by 8 points or so, and in the blink of an eye they build momentum, you got multiple elite shooter not just inside the perimeter but behind the arc as well. However, Serbia are giving them a run for their money right now, KD just checking in and the crowd is cheering him real loud!

I am. Serbia looked good first 5-6 minutes but then USA shifted in higher gear and result is as expected.

Having said that, Serbia shooting for 3 pts has been horrendous in the first qurter, especially Bogdanovic. Speaking of which, I can't believe that at the end of Q1 when they had 3 vs 1 situation he decided to shoot yet another 3, instead passing for an easy points. If Serbia doesn't change their approach, this will finish easily over 20 pts for the US.

While team USA have currently score 9 3-pointers from 13 attempts, tell me what's more surreal, Kevin Durant look really great though, 6/6 field goals and 4 of 4 from behind the arc.

It was somewhat wierd. Floating the sportsmen down the Seine is kinda stunning. But some of the other thing seemed excessive. The Olympics is about uniting the globe, right? Its not a political rally. Its about highlighting skill, sportsmanship, the human spirit. But this time it felt like we were being preached to, and not everyone will value that.

And Olympic flame, too? Look, Paris is wonderful. But burning the flame in a garden? Not exactly the great show

I agree. The Olympics have to change. Still, we cannot ignore the core of it all. Its about unity, not separation. Its about honouring our differences rather than advancing agendas. Lets not forget the reason everyone of us listens in. Its for the competitors, for the athletes, for the pure delight of sports.

Same. KD and Lebron at half - 13/13 33 points lol. KD is limited too. USA only worry is being too good, and players not finding a suitable role as NOT an alpha like most normally are. Heck of a first half
