I am gonna be honest with you, I do not know who this Phelps is, basically because I've not and never paid attention to the Olympics, I remember that when last I watched Olympics was in or around the 90's when I was still a teenager living with my uncle, ever since that year, I never had any interest in the Olympics until this very moment, if you check, you did know that this is my very first comment on this thread.

So, what I am saying it, whoever the Phelps is, he or she gotta train someone to become like him or her, for the fact that he or she is not going to be performing and living for ever, or for an entire generation, it's not possible you know.
So, that the world will have another person like him or her as a replacement for when he or she is gone, he's or she's gonna train someone to become exactly, perfect like him or herself, else, who's gonna carry on with the legacy, he or her legacy?

What you say is very true, when a country continues to provide equal support to every athlete in their sport, both financially and in facilities, it is not absolute that that country will become the team that dominates every sport at international events, America and China, are two countries which has developed rapidly in the last few years in the field of sports so it is not surprising that these two countries are now superpowers not only in the economic field but in fact they have also mastered sports, in fact what surprises me is that they can also achieve more in sports which is indeed It is too not popular in that country, like America, which won medals from women's football, even though we know that football is not as popular as basketball, American football and baseball.

It would be nice if such fun and beautiful games were added to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
I watched the 10 km swimming race in the Seine River. The athletes swam and I was out of breath.

Yes, the next Olympics will be in 4 year's time and Los Angeles will get another opportunity to host this event.
By the way, did anyone watch the closing ceremony of this Olympics? It was a good one and I think it was even better than the opening ceremony we witnessed a month ago.

The best part of this closing ceremony was the entry of Tom Cruise and his stunning movie-like moments just grabbed the attention of everyone. He jumped from the top of the Stade de France stadium and landed on the ground with a style.

You can use he as he is male. It is understandable if the person is not interested in Olympics. But even me who was not into Olympics during Phelps's time, I heard and read him over the news because of his feat. Where were you in 2016? Because if you were just browsing the news, you had surely read about him.

For me it was 2nd best Olympics that I saw. Still, nobody can't beat London 2012. There is so many moments from Paris that will stuck in my head forever. From athletics to basketball or beach volleyball in background of Eiffel tower. And it was so great to see full stands everywhere, even in sports which doesn't looks so popular. Such relief after empty stands in Tokyo 2020.

There were series of unforgettable moments this Olympics in terms of incredible performances from some of these teams of skillful Atlethes we have this tournament who performed at the just concluded 2024 Olympics, ranging from the Basketball, handball , volleyball, to skateboarding and the marathon swimming, I enjoyed this season's Olympics marathon swimming competition more than I do enjoy previous one.

I heard due to the controversies there will not be a boxing competition. We'll see about break dance, but I'm sure there are better, more competitive sports out there to choose from.

A lot of things are changing regarding the Olympics and the case of Cuba is one of them. Nigeria is also another country that have deteriorated to bad and that can be attributed to poor management. They fielded 88 athletes yet could not win a single medal. Meanwhile many African countries far less than them won at least a medal. So while things changed for the worse for some countries, the reverse is the case for others. Overall the Olympic was good even though there were lost of criticisms and dramas, we can say they are the fun of it.

Yeah kind of ironic both ended up with the same amount of gold medals.  I see a lot of people cryoling about the amount of ping pong or diving events but there are just as much running and swimming events.  All in all it's the Olympics and for me it's great to watch the top of all athletes in each respective sport.  No politics no nothing just go out and let the best of the best play out.  Was a great Olympics to watch.

Yeah, they've been known to produce a lot of good boxers in the past, who would forget Teófilo Stevenson? And then Félix Savón? But their domination in this sports seems to put a stop in this 2024 Olympics.

Also they are also power house as far as wrestling goes.

Perhaps the programs of other countries are far as this sports goes has caught up with Cuba that's why they didn't win as much as they did in the past Olympics.

As what they said, records are met to be broken, so maybe in the future we will see not just Americans, but other nation as well going close to Michael Phelps historic run in the Olympics. No one thought that  Mark Spitz's 1972 Olympic with 7 gold medals can't be broken by Phelps did 8. And with the advancement of sports medicine and training and as we can see the swimming in every Olympics, there has to be a record that can be broken by even a 10th of a second. But it might take time though for someone to come out and then break the record of Phelps in swimming. He had competition during his prime, but as you have said, he is really on another level by himself. And he could be in the discussions as one in the Mt. Rushmore as far as the sports of swimming goes.

I don't think he will train someone in the future, but his coach is definitely trying to help various athletes like Leon Marchand etc to try and overtake him, but that might never happen if you ask me.

But it might take time though for someone to come out and then break the record of Phelps in swimming. He had competition during his prime, but as you have said, he is really on another level by himself. And he could be in the discussions as one in the Mt. Rushmore as far as the sports of swimming goes.

Some athletes already broke a couple of his world records, but I don't think anyone will ever overtake him as the most decorated/greatest Olympian of all time. That dude is a supernatural being in my opinion.

it's a new sport, no one expected such performances, certainly the poor selection meant that these poor impressions spread within the sporting event but it must be said that being an immature and new sport, the first performances must be taken with a pinch of salt
