This new champions league format will see some big teams eliminated in the group stage, with just three games left to play in the group phase, teams like Real Madrid, City, Bayern, PSG, etc are not in the top 8. I know teams 9th-24th would compete in a play-off, but at the start of the competition who would have believed that some of these teams will be part of the play-offs, and they could even face themselves, imagine City v Real Madrid in a Play-off game to reach the RO16, lol.

I think others have also began to see from my point of view when I once made mentioned of the new European format and how it has affected some top teams in a way. We just have to be realistic. Football this season isn't even based on old records anymore. Real Madrid and City losing as if they haven't played a European competition before. As things stands, real madrid's chance of making it to the top 8 is very slim.

Real Madrid have drop to most bottom standings place awhile after 3 of 5 losses and have three matches left if can't win all matches not sure yet will Madrid get one ticket trough playoff round or not.

Most terrible performance of bigger teams is PSG after dropping outside from the playoff round position, PSG current standings at 25th place and have 4 points of 5 matches, not sure for upcoming match if still get losses PSG have small opportunity get the playoff round position. Three matches left in Champion League, PSG have to face Manchester City and can't believing if new format looks difficult for PSG qualify to knock out round .

I also think new UEFA Champions League format is more interesting and challenging for top teams. Only top 8 teams can go straight to knockout round so even best teams can not be sure they will make it. Real Madrid is good example of this. They have had tough start to season and now they are not sure if they will be in competition for much longer.

PSG is in even worse situation. It is hard to believe that team as good as they are is struggling so much. They only have 4 points from 5 games so it will be very hard for them to make it to knockout round. Overall I think new format is good for Champions League and it will be interesting to see what happens for  rest of season.

Arne Slot is now a coach we really need to noticed the effort his putting in this Liverpool team that made the team exceptional this season, they have been doing great since the beginning of the season in all competition, and they defeated Real Madrid of all people today in the Champions League; this is an interesting game that was well played and Liverpool were very lucky to go with the three points because they were the better side tonight.

They are not only lucky, but Arne Slot's strategy to put three attackers on the line makes Real Madrid overwhelmed from the beginning. Yes, it true that some top team have to occupy the play-off position but there are still 3 match left, even if all the remaining match can be win it doesn't necessarily mean they can avoid from play-off round, it just that I won't blame the new UCL format because the decline in performance of some big team has not only happened here but also in the domestic league.
But it will provide an advantage for the top team when they become the team that has to go through the play-off round because there will be more match and of course it can generate more money, it just that there are risks such as the chance that there are players who might get injured when they compete in the play-off round, each player from each team must really take care of themselves.
I still believe that Real Madrid will be able to perform well in the remaining matches after today defeat made them have to occupy the bottom position for the team that will enter the play-off round.

You can't just drop one of the finest strikers on the bench because Real Madrid lost a game. The poor performance of the club shouldn't be placed on only one player where there is other ten players. The French player still needs to be given more chances to show his worth. His problem is psychological because it seems he is putting himself under pressure to perform. I think he should still remain in the first team until the end of the season because he is a player that can change games.

Generally, Real Madrid performance yesterday was disgraceful. How can Los Blancos don't have a single goal on target till the 93rd minutes. Real Madrid lost from all sides, I didn't expect them to play that bad and especially for Mbappe in this match it was really bad, he had filled the left wing position in his original position because of Vinicius' absence but Mbappe was unable to show his best performance, not only because he failed to execute the penalty but there was indeed no major contribution to the team from Mbappe, it's been a long time since his arrival he should have been able to adapt but in fact he didn't.
