I've had some moment that I have been excited after winning good amount of money from my bet, in the case of this Singapore man I think age is also a factor that might have affected him too, that too much excitement can as well lead to high blood pressure if not well manage, that amount of money was extremely out of his imagination, at least not in this life time in his mind.

Hehehe... This reminds me of a movie with an occurrence similar to this event although wasn't that of a gambler's situation but one of a poverty eaten man who was gifted some money amount to a million and after getting home couldn't find sleep all night, man felt restless because he has never owned such amount of money in his lifetime, he got up early in the morning to return the money to the giver. Died the next evening.

There is a joy that kills, especially when it's overwhelming it can cause negative impulses that the body system will react otherwise to the detriment of our health.

I guess I am not that old yet to have a heart attack after learning about the winning amount.

But in the case of the story shared, it's a super large sum of money. What may happen to me is to keep on jumping until I get exhausted with it or I break my leg because I didn't even think about it while celebrating. The first one who will know it is my wife, without any doubt and I think she will feel the same and go home after receiving that kind of news.

I remembered a thread in this forum that discuss about will you gamble until you death or something like that, it's why people who had heart problem or already old enough should think twice if they want to gamble, if not this bad thing could happen to them.

Mehn, what an unfortunate news to hear. I don’t think this is the first time I’ve heard this news (I can’t recall where exactly I heard/read about it) so I’m not too surprised about the incident although it’s still remains a tragic one.

Just as the post above states, winnings should be used for oneself or one’s family and not something that should send you to an early grave - I don’t know the health condition of the man but I feel that he might have had some complications with his heart and that contributed with the surprise of his winnings.

It begs the question of what do gamblers really want? They lost huge money to gamble they lose their life, they win huge money from gamble they still lose their life.

To me, this is kinda of different from when a gambler dies from losing his money to gambling - most of the times they tend to lose their life on purpose after losing their life savings, but in this case it was due to health complications - I am sure that if he was the type that was very conscious of his health and took good care of it he would have still being alive now to enjoy his winnings.

@Lida93 there is a movie is called Malamaal Weekly in Hindi, a very popular movie by a famous director. I am not sure if it was a remake of any Western movie, but it's worth a watch with or without subs. It has a context similar to death after a lottery win.

Back to the topic, this is indeed because winning a big amount and then essentially losing it because the winner can no longer enjoy that prize. The money will be used by the kin of the winner, but they might feel bad about it.
