I didn't use Ginger wallet for some months now and thought while I was at it to update my other wallets, why not update Ginger, too. I receive coins from campaigns in my Ginger wallet and mostly hodl them for quite some time, but monitor it through a watch-only Electrum wallet.

I must say, it's a bit puzzling that @GingerWallet remains silent about their repo removal, though I don't know when the repo got removed/offline. Not a good sign, to be honest.

Ginger Wallet is working normally, there is no issue with it. Everything is fine on our side.
We understand your concern about the repository, but the wallet itself is safe and operational. If there are any updates, we will communicate them.

I guess while you're at it, you should consider moving your codebase to Gitlab.

Much better experience for you guys ever since Microsoft started aggressively pushing AI features into Github since a few years ago and in general just straight up suspending people's accounts for no good reason.

These days I visited the bitcoin.org site, and in the recommended wallets, I saw the ginger wallet listed as one of the options for desktop wallets/software wallets, this is a worthy recognition and they should probably be doing a great work.

I don't know how the wallet is currently, but it would be interesting, if it doesn't already exist, to add fee under 1 sat/vB (like 0.1, 0.5 sat/vB) and full support for silent payments.

Those features you mentioned are definitely important, but what Ginger really needs right now is an update to its Tor components to 4.9.0. The current 0.4.8.21 variant will lose network compatibility starting September 1, 2026. This is clearly stated in Tor’s June 23 release. So I think we should expect Ginger’s next release to account for this.

I have not visited bitcoin.org (nor bitcoincore.org) for a very long time therefore have no idea what wallets they are recommending. Having said that, what can be stated about Ginger Wallet is that they charge a fee and they do not allow for users to enter their coordinator. If you use Ginger Wallet you have no choice but to use their coordinator.

Wasabi Wallet does allow users to enter a coordinator of their choice (including those that charge 0% fees). On that basis, it becomes an almost pointless exercise to use or recommend Ginger Wallet.

You have a point no  doubt, the possibility of switching to a coordinator that charges 0% fees is a good differentiator for those who use coinjoin frequently.

When I first discovered Ginger Wallet, I downloaded it and one of the features I liked most was the possibility to add a second layer of security, such as protecting wallets with 30-second 2FA Auth. This is the only difference Ginger has over Wasabi (that I know of).
