I mean, I thought maybe you just need USDT for whatever reason as, selling Bitcoin at this time would be out of the option, given that Bitcoin price is rising right now.

Maybe he's trying to be as honest as possible, which is okay to me and perhaps to the party lending the money as well. I don't see anything bad about that. The reason he wants the money for is also urgent, so I think it makes sense he requested such an amount, given he might have had limited options.
