Or are you telling that the games where you can play for free and can get money in return? To be honest, neither of the above scenarios is considered to be gambling. Generally, in gambling, you gamble your hard-earned money by taking risks to earn some extra money. If this activity is not involved, then no matter what you do, it cannot be considered gambling. You are just using a faucet to try your luck to win big from the freebies.

Well, I think it's a matter of "grammar" here, since free games is what it is, it's intrinsic, correct.
On the other hand, you are making a bet, it is called gambling for that very reason, you expect a return, but regardless of that, chance dominates both of you.

I think that gambling becomes when passion awakens in you. And it doesn’t matter what you use money, candy wrappers or apples, if you are interested and have a desire to win, then most likely this game will be a gamble. I don't think it is.  If you aremt gambling anything and the risk is zero what exactly would you be gambling (willing to lose).  Can't even say time because no matter what you lose time.  And for the other question no free games don't do it for me in terms of the excitement.  If I ha e $10 on a sports game that I otherwise wouldn't have a vested interest I am then into it.  No real money on that same game and I probably turn it off before it's over.

So are you saying that joining a singing contest is gambling in its form?  It was a clear definition that the presence of gambling is something that needs to meet certain requirements.  Playing and aiming to win a price can't be called gambling if it is missing a certain factor called a stake.  It said that there are three core elements to be present to consider an action as gambling[1] and these are:

consideration (stake)
risk
the prize

It is clearly stated that attitude can't be the basis for whether the action is gambling or not but the presence of these three core elements.

For me, some free games are only available just for advertising, where some platforms will lure you to start deposit money, some free games have a high chance of winnings so you think and feel you are lucky because of the winning.

For me, gambling is always needed a money, it's not free.

What about two things:

1) people can replace money with other valuable things, like cigarettes in prison for example. Instead of money they bet them, or food in gambling. Are you saying that they dont gamble, but instead do something else? Or kids used chewing gums in my childhood for betting.

2) if free games are for advertising, then why in some casinos you can play free games and win real money? Or participate in freeroll tournaments in poker and win money. Isnt it gambling ?

True gamblers are always  balancing between win and lose with an eye on their bankrolls. I think that free games are more for kids rather than for mature gamblers.

Playing for free and win money in return is not gambling? I think gambling has to do with anything that involves either staking money or winning money. It’s not necessarily you wager the bet with your own hard earned money. If casinos offer you a free bet on their sites, it means they have wager the game on your behalf and you expecting to win money in return has made it become a gambling.

Your first assumption question is what can not be regarded as a gambling since there’s no wager and expected outcome involved. In this scenario, the game is purely for fun and entertainment in order to probably kill time. Demo games can also be classified under this category because the wager and winning are not real assets and can not be used outside the demo account. there’s a little mix up here I think. Either paid gambling or free gaming, playing some sort type of games in front of children is not ideal to avoid causing distraction. I read through the link you attached but I see it as a justification of my earlier comment.

In that post, the poster emphasized on the use of money for gambling and how children might be tempted to steal money in order to play. Children play games like words scrabble, whot, ludo etc and yes, we can not refer these as gambling. I think there’s need for clarity on gambling and games here.

I could say that those games in which there is gambling excitement can be considered gambling, but I think this is not an entirely accurate formulation. Because gambling without bets is the same as non-alcoholic beer.

Free games doesn’t contain thrill factor in the game since it doesn’t contain risk and also you can’t enjoy after the game even if you win huge amount since it’s not real money. But the advantage of playing free games is you can be entertained without losing money. The only difference is the level of entertainment is low compared when you gamble.

Gambling is a double edge sword which can make you too happy or sad depending on the result of the game which you can’t get by playing free games.

I am absolutely sure that free games can be addictive.  I can describe an example: on our forum there is a casino, the name of which I will not describe.  So, it offers to spin your slots and earn points.  I mean that the gambler does not need to pay, he simply plays slots for points.  And the gambler who made the most money during the day will receive a cash prize.  It turns out that gamblers are given slots for free, but at the same time have a chance to earn money.  Only during the spins you can easily become addicted.

Good response here. It can only be considered gambling when it involves risk. And what is the definition of risk? Risk has to do with something that there is uncertainty and the probability of something bad happening. We gamble to win intentionally, but there is a certainty that we can lose and the probability is high. When we stake or bet with free spins or demo money then it is not considered gambling at all. What OP has been doing is practicing with free bets. In trading we can call it demo trading.

..and no free games don't excite me as much as games with money involved, but I still can have fun when playing free card games with friends.
