From memory the "current" version of KSC exists only as a Windows executable; there's no source code with the newest changes available. That means it's going to be very difficult to move forward.

---- >>> DEAD COIN

No source code could ever be found

ONLY thing remaining was : https://www.dropbox.com/s/eawkrn768odewyn/kashmircoin-update%20%282%29.exe?dl=0

The Wallet works [or I should say the Wallet "DID work"] but will not sync due to very little interest

From memory they should change only some POS parameters, it shouldn't be difficult to put these parameters into the source code to make it the "current" version

Depends what the changes were between the last released source, and the newer Windows wallet executable.

If it was just basic bug fixes, a few extra checkpoints etc then it should be possible to use the older source as a reference, and redo the coin with newer source from another coin.

If it was a hard fork then it's going to be more complicated. Can't remember exactly, but I don't think I was ever able to successfully sync using the older version, so it's possible that newer Windows clients will refuse to communicate with older source based clients. [edit: my notes from last year say "client broken by hard fork, needs more current source"]

All that shouldn't be difficult. Without any change in parameters, older versions can't sync with the current version is a normal thing. It doesn't mean the current client was broken
