Bergvall shouldn’t have been on the pitch but for some reason the referee didn’t send him off and he scored the winner 30 seconds later when Tsimikas who he just injured was off the pitch getting treatment.

Spurs better believe we are going to deal with them in the 2nd leg at Anfield.
That looks controversial after he tackles Kostas Tsimikas hard. He should have gotten a 2nd yellow card, and He should have been sent off before the goal happened. I don't know why Stuart Atwell as the referee didn't focus on that incident?, because if allowed to continue to occur, the other players will imitate him and it will cause injuries to many players. From a moral point of view, Arsenal should not take advantage of the empty space by leaving Tsimikas lying down on the field. This is so embarrassing to utilize by creating empty gaps by harming someone.

No one expected Arsenal to lost 0 - 2 to Newcastle at home and this defeat could be bad start because in the second leg Arsenal will have to play away and at least have to win by more than 3 goal to be able to enter the final absolutely.
70% of most football fans expect Arsenal to win, but 30% of most bettors already have the idea that Newcastle can win. Even I bet on Newcastle without hesitation. And I have also said here that Newcastle can hold or even beat Arsenal. Newcastle's performance cannot be underestimated. Regarding Arsenal who must qualify for the final round, I have an assumption that if Arsenal will qualify for the final round, in the second leg Arsenal will be able to score 3 or 4 goals. Or if not, Arsenal is only able to score 2 goals without conceding and Arsenal will qualify from the penalty round.
It would be an extraordinary achievement if Newcastle can beat Arsenal again in the second leg or draw and Newcastle advance to the final because it has been long time since we saw Newcastle have the opportunity to play in the final to compete for one of the titles from several competitions they have participated in.
Previously you made Newcastle the favorite but what about the second leg later, will Newcastle win again or vice versa, give of you prediction here and for me there is only small chance for Arsenal to enter the final, scoring many goal in an away game is not easy.

Once again Arsenal had to disappoint their fans they suffered a defeat in the first leg at home against Newcastle I think Arsenal has no hope in the second leg because they will be visiting Newcastle's house the home club certainly will not let their guests beat them and of course Newcastle has a greater chance of qualifying for the semifinals by adding another 1/2 goal.

It was quite surprising to see Liverpool lose to Tottenham in the first leg even though as we know Liverpool are very strong this season and I think they will win in the 1st and 2nd legs but my prediction was wrong, even so Liverpool still have a chance to turn things around in the second leg later when playing at Anfield.
For Arsenal i highly doubt they can able to bounce back on the second leg this because Newcastle in their best form and it's hard to beat them especially at their home ground so for second leg match my prediction is Newcastle will be able to win the match again and eleminate Arsenal

For other semifinal match between Tottenham vs Liverpool indeed this is a shocking result because Liverpool is the favourite but in fact Tottenham is much better than them and can win with the final score 1-0 and all Tottenham have to do in the second leg is try to get a draw at Anfield

1-0 is not safe score for Tottenham so there is still a possibility for Liverpool to win the match with a margin of more than 1 goal for second leg later and i am quite confident Liverpool will be able to do that
With an aggregate of 2 goals of course we doubt Arsenal in the second leg later, even if Arsenal wants to qualify for the final at least they have to score 3 goals and not let Newcastle add to their aggregate total but it seems it will be difficult for Arsenal to score more than 2 goals at Newcastle's headquarters and it seems this is the end of Arsenal's struggle in the EFL Cup.

Yes, Tottenham's victory over Liverpool cannot be said to be safe because Liverpool can still turn things around, after all being 1 goal behind is not a big difference and Liverpool might respond by scoring many goals in the second leg later.

I know that this competition isn't that important for many clubs but wasting an opportunity to grab a title is quite sad.
Liverpool played with many top players, yet they missed to score and Tottenham Hotspur missed also some opportunities but they were able to win the game by only one goal and passed to the final game against Newcastle United which will be complicated and hard to guess the winner

That's why i said the referee in this game was bullshit. It's obvious a yellow card for Bergvall, and i'm wondering why incompetent referee still be employed.

I thought that Liverpool is getting robbed by the referee in this game. The incident between Bergvall and Tsimikas was the reason why they lost.

Arsenal really have a bad moment against Newcastle which I think that was the only moment for Arsenal to have a structure which will lead them easily to the final but it was turned down maybe due to missing players, very important players that are needed to secured victory, and in the second leg i don't think they can be able to make it due to the current performance of Newcastle, especially when they are playing at Newcastle's headquarters, it have been a while when Newcastle had this kind of opportunity, in this case I think Newcastle will qualify for the final.

I think Arsenal lost their sharpness in the match, although they were able to dominate the match and even could pressure Newcastle defense well but it seems that sharpness and finishing must be Arteta main focus at the moment, an aggregate of two goals is indeed a bit difficult for Arsenal to achieve in the second leg later, but I think Arsenal's opportunity for a comeback is also still wide open later if Arteta can optimize and improve his current attacking line.

Liverpool this season has been very impressive with their ability to turn things around, so I think a 1-0 lead cannot guarantee Tottenham to lock their final ticket, especially since the second leg will be played at Anfield which is notoriously haunted for every opposing team, I also think Liverpool have a great chance to turn things around in the second leg later.

Arsenal came from two goals down when they played Crystal palace so I feel they can do this being that it's at the Emirates stadium they will play the return leg and if the Gunners don't take advantage of this, then we will know the EFL title is not something they're interested in. Then you'd ask which one are they going to be interested in then? The EPL or the champions league?

Yeah I totally I agree with you, it almost like a mission impossible for the gunners, I don’t see them scoring 3 goals at St.james park. The last time Newcastle conceded 3 goals was against the premier league leaders Liverpool and they also scored 3 goals too, I don’t see arsenal scoring 3 goals in the second league, with the absence of bukayo saka  I don’t think they can score that much goals.

Arsenal had a couple of chances to have killed the match even before Alexander Isak scored the opener, but they fail to convert, Gabriel Martinelli should have scored after going 1V1 against the keeper but could only hit the woodwork. Honestly it going to be big work for the gunners but I only see Newcastle beating them again at St.james park again. Newcastle will do a double against the gunners.

I think Liverpool will turn this around, they will beat Tottenham in the second leg, Tottenham have been very inconsistent this season, and I think Liverpool will make good use of that opportunity and turn it around. Even in the first leg, Liverpool played better only that they didn’t make use of their chances. Anfield is a very different place and it the worst place to visit at this period of time, especially in a semi final. I feel Liverpool will win the second tie and qualify for the final.

Are you being serious right now cause I don't understand why you think Liverpool match against Manchester United was supposed to be an easy game for Liverpool when you clearly know the rivalry between the two teams. Mind you the game against Manchester United I can proudly say that Liverpool was lucky to have gotten a draw because I had already stood up in celebration only to realize that Harry Maguire missed our last opportunity to make the scoreline 2:3.

Lol! You are Manchester United fan and you want to defend right?  Grin

Well, you misunderstood my previous post actually. I mean since Liverpool struggled with Manchester United, their performance hasn't been the same again else their match against Tottenham was supposed to be an easy run for them. Liverpool performance against Manchester United was actually not as impressive as we thought it could be and they approached Tottenham with same energy (very weak). Tottenham played with more seriousness than Liverpool and they deserved that victory for their effort. By the way, United is still a team that needs help because they don't seem to have focus at the moment. They will perform brilliantly this match and fumble the next one, no offence please.

Graham Potter began his first day as West Ham's boss with a loss when his side lost 2-1 to Aston Villa in their EFL match. The first half saw West Ham pressing Aston Villa to the point that there was no goal attempt from Unai Emery's side and I began to wonder if this is Aston Villa that would on a normal day disturb West Ham but the visitors joy was short lived after the somehow controversial goal that came from Amadou Onana in the 71st disrupted their plans and not to long after, Morgan Rogers goal to seal their win.
I'm not saying Graham's not a good coach but can he be trusted to deliver West Ham from the pit they are slowly sinking into or am I being to hasty in my judgement? Either way, the remaining games in both the EPL and other competitions West Ham finds themselves will tell.

Isn't there still the 2nd leg? So Arsenal and Liverpool still have a chance to change the situation, especially for Liverpool whose 2nd leg will take place at Anfield unlike Arsenal who have to play at Newcastle's home ground.
It was quite disappointing to see Liverpool lose, because I thought they would win even though it wouldn't be easy, but the core players who were fielded were not enough to break through Tottenham's goal, it seems that Ange Postecoglou learned from his previous crushing defeat to Liverpool so they succeeded in suppressing their opponent.

Yeah there is a second leg in EFL Carabao Cup that I forgot about when seeing the shocking results of the first leg!
You know when I checked the odds in bookies and seeing where games will take place in the second leg, I think that Liverpool might have a good chance to win and pass at the opposite of gunners where things is a little bit more complicated.
Liverpool @1.35 vs Tottenham Hotspur @7.4
Newcastle United @3 vs Arsenal @2

Arsenal came from two goals down when they played Crystal palace so I feel they can do this being that it's at the Emirates stadium they will play the return leg and if the Gunners don't take advantage of this, then we will know the EFL title is not something they're interested in. Then you'd ask which one are they going to be interested in then? The EPL or the champions league?
I’ll like to see them try, seriously, I’ll like that. Without Saka at the moment, there is only so much that Arsenal could do. What they’ve got now isn’t enough for the fire power of Newcastle United if I’m speaking frankly. The likes of Isak, Gordon and surprisingly Murphy have been good this season, either finding the goals or creating chances for one. Lewis Hall has been good defensively and going forward. Arsenal have got Rice not playing to standard, Odegaard nope, Martinelli, nope and J. Jesus is inconsistent. So, I’ll really like to see them try, let them give me a good watch at least.

West Ham failed to maintain or increase the lead they gained in the first half. Scoring a goal in the 9th minute through Lucas, I thought they would score more goals in the following minutes. Yes and instead of increasing the lead, they actually lost consistency in the second half, which made West Ham concede two goals from Aston Villa which changed the score to 2-1. However, even so, the results they got in this match were better than the previous 2 matches in the English league, where West Ham had to be slaughtered by Liverpool and also Manchester City with a landslide score.

And of course a big hope if Graham Potter is able to bring West Ham to the path of victory, but of course this is not seen in the near future, and we have to be patient for that.

What can I say? The ending score was a huge surprise to me because after watching the first half I concluded that Westham was going to win the game. The pressing, the defense, and the way the players were positive on the field. Well, that's football for you, the game is not always over until the final whistle is blown. Westham gave an outstanding performed but we should forget Aston Villa also played well in the first half they were only finding it difficult to get an attempt on goal due to the way Westham was defending. In the second half, Aston Villa found a huge opportunity to equalize and win the game.

Graham Potter took over West Ham at a point where they were really bad. I'm not expecting an immediate results from him that is exceptional but expecting West ham to have some kind of reaction to his appointment and have the players fight harder to win games. Aston Villa are very disciplined this season , I expected them to win against West Ham to show that they are the better team, and they did. Graham Potter will look forward to the next team fixtures, maybe he could claim a win there.

Westham are no longer competing in the Carabao Cup. Last night match is FA cup where they have been defeated Aston villa on 3rd round.

I’ll like to see them try, seriously, I’ll like that. Without Saka at the moment, there is only so much that Arsenal could do. yes, Arsenal are faced with injured core players, Saka. there is nothing they can do beside recruit a new player to replace Saka position. This is crucial thing that make Arsenal things to change the strategy. They are try to stronger the attacker by recruit a new attacker also, and the funny thing is Arsenal try to contact Isak to join the club. Of course Newcastle won't him to join to the club where they will compete on leg 2.

You might be right if you look at it from the aspect of preference so it is possible Liverpool might be out to chase bigger titles like the Premier League title, Champions league or FA cup though all hopes are not lost yet, there is a huge chance and possibility they could over turn the results in the second leg when they face Tottenham at Anfield.

Talking about Arsenal coming back and beating Crystal Palace but Newcastle and Crystal Palace are very different at the moment and if you've followed Arsenal's progress in this competition you should understand that Arsenal's schedule for the second leg is not at the Emirates but at James' Park at Newcastle's home ground. So I think Arsenal will struggle to bounce back in the second leg and if Arsenal are not really interested in the title EFL why would they fight to reach the semi-finals?

I think Newcastle united would still going to win Arsenal in this second leg, because considering their first leg performance and even though Newcastle united is playing on their home ground, I doubt if Arsenal would be able to comeback with 3 goals against Newcastle united.

I'm pretty sure that Liverpool stand in a better chance against Tottenham Hotspur in this their second leg, because considering their present performance now I think it'll going to be a most win for Liverpool.

Potter's first lose can still be tolerated. He's only a few days since he joined Westham, he needs more time to adapt with the squad. I know it's really painful to see him lose in his first game, but he is learning a lot from this result.

I see there are more positives to take instead of negatives. The club is performing better compared than when Lopetegui still there. Importantly, they have lost so many players due to the injuries.

This makes me think that Potter can make them better in the upcoming games. I know this result may doubted us about Potter, but let him work first. He deserves a chance.
