I searched for this thread before I was able to see it and decided to bump it.

Today Manchester United has a meeting with Grimsby, what do you think will be the score?
I am a Manchester United fan, but with the performance of Manchester United, I am not even confident that we will be able to beat Grimsby, that is how bad it is.
I know that Amorim will try younger players like;
Mainoo,
Heaven,
Chidobi,
And this time around, Sezko canake his first appearance for the team.
What do you think will be the score?

No offense but it's in competitions like these that we tend to see the best of Man UTD. Grimsby may be a good team in their division but I doubt they would be able to withstand the pressure of a top side like the Red Devils. I can't predict the correct score but I know that Man UTD would win by a huge margin.

Agreed. Amorim needs to give some of the young lads the opportunity to showcase their talents, especially Mainoo, Zirkzee, Diego Leon, who haven't played a competitive game this season. The situation with Mainoo is quite sad. Amorim does not see him as a midfielder. He feels Mainoo should be playing as a number 10, but with Cunha, Mbeumo, Mount, Fernandez, and Zirkzee all fighting for the role, it makes it difficult for him to get a spot. Also, in the midfield, he has fallen down the picking order behind Fernandez, Casemiro, and Ugarte. So I understand why he wants to leave.

This is a match Manchester needs right now, so they would use it yo build a winning mentality in the team. I think Ruben Amorim knows this as well so he won’t joke around getting result in this match. For sure you can’t take away Manchester United performance from the last the games they’ve played, in the arsenal match I think they deserve at least a point from that match, and in the Fulham match maybe, just maybe if Fernandez had converted that penalty the outcome of the match would have been different.

I expect nothing less than 3 goals up from Manchester United in this match, this is a team who is playing in league 2, so it should be more like a forfeit match for them. Well this is football and you can expect the worse but I’m confident Manchester United will blow away Grimsby in this fixture.

Amorim did not trust Manchester United's young players, which is one of the reasons why some fans believe he can't coach the team. I'm not sure why he didn't give Kobbie Mainoo and Zirkzee any minutes in the two games Manchester United played against Fulham and Arsenal, these players are good and perform better than some of the players Amorim gives playtime to at times. Kobbie Mainoo is a good player who has won many games for Amorim when he comes off the bench.

I don't know why Manchester United is not taking any action or informing Amorim that Manchester United is not a small team. Manchester United is playing against Grimsby Town today, and instead of giving young players chances, he will play his favourite players. Dalot and Mason Mount are not supposed to start matches for Manchester United because they are not performing well.

When it comes to the carabao cup and FA cup in recent times, Manchester United have been very consistent with progressing to the near end. This night game is already a walk over but what I can not tell is how many goals in all but there should be a 3 goals margin in the favour of Manchester United. The league apparently started the rough way but I don't think their performance would determine today's game. This is a title game and I think Manchester United is more focused on title games in recent years. Grimsby town Football club is not as small as everyone is thinking because they currently sit at the 4th position in the league two with 3 wins and 2 draws in their 5 games so far.

Benjamin Sesko would have an opportunity to score his first goal as he will b starting the game tonight.

However, I am hopeful that Amorim will make a comeback with his team very soon and bring the team back to winning ways. Although I do not expect a league title from him right now, just a good position and a good fight.

Grimsby ain't nothing for MU. They're terrible club, have so many amateur players, and also no experienced coach. This makes sense to predict MU to score at least three goals or maybe more. I'd pick total over 2.5/3.5 as FT is only offering 1.14 for MU. which is not even worth to gamble with.

Although, they face an easy taem, the better they to use main squad in order to strengthen their chemistry.

I hope UTD have to bag this game no matter what because they have suffered a lot to get 3pt in the EPL 2 games they played and this game have to be an opener to get their first win this season at least let the fans have something to celebrate as a win before the league games comes up again. We know it has not been easy for them but going into this game will definitely be an easy one and I expect them go get a comfortable win against Grimsby that are not of the same level as them (Man UTD). Amorim should go all out for this game and those players who hardly start that he loves bringing from the bench at 70+mins should start especially the new striker Benjamin Šeško, it should be a game for him to excel big time. I expect more from the Red Devils with a wonderful display tonight.

If Manchester United doesn't win today against Grimsby then Amorim should know that the fans will start singing different song to him because he is not getting a good result for the team, the result already shows that his team is not doing well under his management but if there is plans to comeback by him then he should start making it fast because the fans are getting tired, even though he doesn't get a trophy this season for the team but he should stabilize the performance of the team.

Among these ones, I see Brighton v Liverpool and Tottenham v Manchester City matches as the most attracting. Because I think we will see really good performances from both sides. Each one of these teams are very capable in the attacking line. I don't see next round in the bag for Liverpool for example. The same for Manchester City either. 

If I bet on these matches, I'd prefer both teams to score.

if you bet on both teams to score a match like Man City vs Tottenham the odds will not be good enough. the chances of both scoring are high. but what is frustrating is that sometimes a match between 2 strong teams usually doesn't result in a single goal.
a match like Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace or MU vs Leicester might be more appropriate for both teams to score.
anything can happen in a competition like the Carabao Cup. Chelsea might get a bigger chance for this trophy.

I agree just like the game this passed weekend were Tottenham won by 0;2 most people predicted that both teams will score in that game but it ended up disappointing many as only one side that were able to score



I think that people should not take this game seriously because both teams is likely to bench their important players because this is just the starting of the competition and alot of games are coming up

If a team performs well we applaud the players more than we applaud the coach but if the team is in bad shape like the way Manchester United are we blame the coach and I agree with you that Amorim hasn't been the best manager to lead the club Manchester United, he hasn't done anything to say they have improved in certain areas. This is a game I expect Manchester United to win but losing to Grimsby 2nil is shocking to me, honestly the struggle is too much for the club at this point, if they can't beat this club, which other club can they be able to snatch 3pt from in the EPL?
I think they don't have a defensive problem that's to UTD fans, is all about the goalkeeper the blame will always go to Onana because they feel I mean the fans feel he is to blame for everything since he is the goalkeeper to stop the ball from getting in, I feel for the goalkeeper. They might draw the game because I just got a notification as I'm posting that Mbeumo just made it 2-1, there's still hope.

Fans won't take it likely because they've been patient with him last season and supported him cause he came in halve way but he's had pre-season with the team and even got more players signed to strengthen the team so if better results don't start coming, I don't think fans would be wrong to start getting tired of him.

What a comeback, many people may have reached the peak of excitement after watching Man United's performance in the Carabao Cup because this English Premier League team managed to draw against Grimsby Town after trailing 2-0 in the first half and this match is now being decided by penalties. Even then both teams proved to be equally skilled in the penalty shootout, In fact they succeeded in five attempts. In this second round match of the Carabao Cup we can now see that Manchester United and Grimsby Town have managed to draw even when taking the penalty for the second time, To my knowledge after forming a new team, Man United performed their strongest ever today, especially in this EFL Cup match.

Honestly, I was low-key expecting Man UTD to turn the game around like they are used to doing but it's safe to say that Grimsby came all out for them I have to say that this has been the longest penalty shootout that I've witnessed in a long while and even though Man UTD tried all they could do to ensure they come out being the winners via penalties, today was just not their day. Wow, football can be really unpredictable.
