Grimsby shouldn't even be going 2 - 0 up against a team like Manchester United, this is a League two team for crying out loud. Things are turning from bad to worse in this team. This was a game that they were supposed to win without stress o the grounds that they used most of their first team players. I was even thinking that Manchester can actually get extra motivation from what has happened in their last two game, then use this one to save face but it's even worse now after this loss.

It’s surprising to me also, I never believed Manchester United will lose the match, a club like Grimsby eliminated Manchester United, seriously am disappointed in Manchester United, and I don’t even know the team which Manchester United will be able to win this season, if they can’t win Grimsby, then which team can they win? It is barely less than 24hrs since I made the comment quoted below, and Manchester United has humiliated themselves again. Even if they wanted to exit the Carabao cup as soon as possible, the defeat doesn't have to come from a 4th division side, which I believe some of their players might have a part-time job somewhere because it is literally 4th division for crying out loud. How many people even watch a 4th division game?, I guess a very few.

This is an absolute embarrassment honestly. The whole thing is not even making any sense. This is the same Manchester united that has spent over £150M in the transfer window, bringing in 3 big attackers. It's definitely going to be a tough night for Manchester united fans honestly.

Grimsby Town is the fourth tier of division and just watching how a full grown team like Manchester United having to fight for a draw and at the end, they lost to this particular club. Hold on a second, is this not the exact same Grimsby Town Chelsea flogged 7-1 years back and I can remember vividly it was during the epic moments of the Blues where Ross Barkley, Batshuayi, Pedro, Zouma, Reece James and Hudson-Odoi recorded their names on the scoresheet? Reece James scored his first Chelsea goal and it was against Grimsby Town on his debut. I can vividly remember the game highlights as if it was yesterday.

Definitely we can now conclude that Ruben Amorim have a very long way to go at Old Trafford, he haven't even started the foundation yet. Manchester United is finish if you're to ask me because I see absolutely no reason why Manchester United shouldn't pull the significant odds and win this particular game. Who to blame for Manchester United getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup? The manager for his inappropriate starting XI or the goalie for making crucial mistakes that led to goal?

Benjamin Sesko is new to the club and he's slowly adapting, remember how toxic the fan base of the club can be, always expecting electric performance from new players and putting these players under pressure. The Red goalie, Andre Onana will become an eligible member when he's ready to accept defeat and work extremely on his mistakes. It's still pained to see Manchester United getting knocked out by newbie.

Grimsby Town knew what they came for and pursued it until it was achieved. A small team will have an effective attacking system. They took the defence of Manchester United by surprise and got three goals but one was disallowed.  The Red Devils had to struggle to recover.

But luck was on the side of the fourth-tier club because Onana got his hands on more than three penalties.  But it was not hard enough to make a save. I saw the Grimsby Town players invading the pitch to celebrate with the players after the win. This is a dream come true and they deserve it.

Honestly, I was low-key expecting Man UTD to turn the game around like they are used to doing but it's safe to say that Grimsby came all out for them I have to say that this has been the longest penalty shootout that I've witnessed in a long while and even though Man UTD tried all they could do to ensure they come out being the winners via penalties, today was just not their day. I don't know what happened to the Man UTD team but all I could say from a spectator's perspective is that the Red Devils got too confident in themselves thinking that they would be the first to open the goal scoring but alas it was like a dream to them when Grimsby scored first and not long after opted for the second goal which was ruled out for offside.
 In competitions like this, no matter how small the team is, you have to play it like it's the finals because aside from the fact that these smaller sides would be happy that they qualifed, it would also be a thing of pride to note that they were able to beat a big club in the EPL and not a club in the same ranks as them.

This is the biggest question here, after Manchester United lost, Manchester United fans have raised more questions about why such a result happened. Manchester United fans cannot accept it, although this is a small cup, they are still regretting the loss of a big team. I never imagined that there would be such a gap in the main game, because Manchester United fans were definitely inattentive to this game.

Overall yesterday was having too many surprises for soccer fans with few good eliminations in Champions League and at the end Manchester United mean changes are happening and teams are improving their quality for staying in good.

Manchester United really have alot of work to do losing against team like Grimsby in the carabao cup shows that they have nothing to do or offer in the English premier league it is very shameful that a small team like Grimsby eliminated a big name like Manchester United in the carabao cup after signing some good front line during the transfer window.

Can we really say that Amorim is the problem after all? Let us not forget that Ruben Amorim was successful at Sporting Lisbon before he came to Manchester United and the legacy he built in Sporting Lisbon is still working perfectly because even after he left the team, they still won trophy and till now the team is doing well. After Ruben Amorim moved to Manchester United the radiance changed and it now looks like he doesn't know what he is doing.

Before Erik Ten Hag came to United he was a serial winner with Ajax, performed well in UCL too then he came to save United and was blamed for it, same story here now Ruben Amorim was doing wonders in Portugal with sporting Lisbon only to come to the EPL and it feels like he’s a novice coach that doesn’t know what he’s doing. 1. They didn't use their best lineup, they let their young players to play e.g. Fredricson and Onana. Maguire, Onana and Mainoo are second choice, in this season Amorim prefer with De Ligt, Bayindir and Casemiro.

2. They didn't play with high press until they conceded with two goals, after that they dominating on the field.

3. Any Manchester United's players who score and successfully execute the penalty weren't happy, it's like they thought they gonna qualify for the next round. On the other hands, Grimsby's players always happy.

4. Grimsby's players take less risk during penalty shootout, unlike some of Manchester United's players were trying to hit the top corner.

They lost the penalties but then, that draw at full time felt like a huge lose for real. Grimsby had a remarkable first 45 minutes thanks to the Manchester United players who killed the game. We're in no Champions league competition, I still wonder why Ruben Amorim went on to bench his best players for that game. It seems there's no way to solve Manchester United's problems with Amorim as manager.
Remember when Manchester United said they didn't need a new goalkeeper and still trusted their current one? The proof is that Onana made another fatal error during Grimsby's second goal in the EFL Cup victory.

Amorim isn't a reliable player, even though management has made it easy for him to transfer and other things.
Amorim should see how Kobbie Mainoo plays his role in midfield.

i will say United's demise was caused by their arrogance & overconfidence.  2 - 0 lead from fourth tier Grimsby Town totally exposed United's complacency, nothing eles...  United lost the shootout 12 - 11 despite a late equaliser.  i will say this is a wake up call, not just a poor outcome.  imo no matter the league, teams cannot undervalue anyone.  Arrogance does not win games, as United's performance served as a reminder.

This is an embarrassing defeat that even some of the fans that are not Manchester United fans are angry of despite the banter between them. As an Arsenal fan, I am really disappointed with Manchester United’s performance yesterday; they lost to a team in the division three and fourth tier competition of the English football.

What can this defeat tell us generally?
I think it is time for Manchester United fans to realize that Amorim is t good enough to get the team back to glory, he is a good coach I must say, but United is too big for him because they gave him money to sign players, he brought he desired players to the team but he couldn’t manage them to get what he wanted which is very shameful. If care is not taken, United will find it difficult in the Premier League this season.

Winning the Premier League is not certain for Manchester United, and they just bottled their chance to win the Carabao Cup; they only have the FA Cup left as the possible option for Amorim to win trophy for the team.

Yeah, Amorim's die hard shall stop to back him. He's not good enough as a coach, and this sounds silly, but MU needs someone like moyes who can deal with a terrible team like that. Also Amorim's system doest really fit his squad. Sack him, then replace him with someone else.

this loss really humbled so many united fans because there is actually no reasonable excuse they can give as to why they lost to a team that is not even known anywhere. going down two nil just that first half was the worst thing to witness and you could see how much it meant to the club to have humiliated Manchester united in the manner they did. even though they where able to bounce back into the gam and even went as far as the penalty, it remained a clear disappointment that united hard to struggle so much and eventually got beaten by a small team that is not even premier league worthy.
