After fucking around with diy t21 Loki's I can best the Canaan, but barely.

51.19 th and 976 watts for top speed.

20 th and 480 watts for low speed.

complete fan control from 20% to 100%

complete freq control from 150MHz to 370MHz

it can be run on 120volt to 240volt

but I am likely to be a bit loud at top speed.

Also cost the Canaan is around 1200 delivered to the USA

this would be 900+150+40+10=1100 for me to build. Which means I have to ask 1300 if you pick it up and 1400 if I ship it.

I think it would be marginally better in every way but silence as It would be louder. So I can't really compete against Canaan other than I could ship it right away.

Margins are too tight for me to build them.

The noise ends up being from the fans.

What are the quietest fans I can use for this type of equipment?

no such animal.  fans need to move air. thus they need speed. thus they are loud at full speed.

my build at a higher setting note fan speed

my build at a lower setting note fan speed.

my controller is better and will allow more settings than the Canaan.

but the fans need to be able to be fast enough to move air with good static pressure.

and advantage for Canaan is the long radiator shape means the heat sink is not wide

so fan speed and static pressure can be less. as the fan cross a long narrow path

while my t21 board is a square those the path for the air to cross is longer.

Anyone want to share their experience with the Mini 3 and Nano 3S?

I'm considering buying a few of these to replace heaters in rental houses, but I'm a bit concerned about stability.
I've seen several people posting about different issues, but I'm not sure if those are serious issues or not.

The houses in which they will be placed is far away from where I live (7 hour drive), so I can't be driving back and forth to fix minor issues, they need to be stable.
I saw that the app only works if you are on the local wifi (which is a shame and missed opportunity for customers like me), but I guess I can manage them through a VPN.
I assume they can be managed through browser on IP, in addition to through the app?

Any feedback is welcome, thanks!

PS: I've been locked out of my Bitcointalk account for years, finally got it back today!  Cool

Have the Mini 3 and it's an absolute tank size wise.

On Eco mode it produces a good amount of heat with just under 30TH to the pool.

In less than 2 weeks of running it the filter is already at 11% so keep that in mind since you'll have a distance to travel.

App and web browser are required to access the gui but you can only change the settings through the app so you will need to be on the local network and sounds like you'll need your VPN.

Most of the time with the Nano's when they act up a simple powering down and back up fixes the issue but haven't had that issue yet with the Mini 3.

Welcome back.

Thanks for feedback, its appreciated!
Good point about the airfilter filling up, maybe it would help mounting the miner on the wall and getting it up from the floor a bit, like a regular wall mounted heater. I will try to make some brackets for this.
Sad to hear I need to use the app to change settings, hopefully I can use Bluestacks android emulator + VPN to manage the miners through the app from home.

I was hoping Canaan had made some cloud service type of thing where the miner could "call home" to their cloud service, and I could manage them online.
If they've already put energy into an app, why not take it the extra step and make it more useful for people like me Cheesy

If these miners are stable its a no brainer for me to buy more. Like, if I can replace existing heaters and electricity usage with these miners, and earn some money on the electricity I would use anyway, its basically free electricity in this scenario.

I ordered 3x Mini's yesterday, so I will post my experience when I get them in hand and have used them a bit.

And thanks, its good to be back!

I've had a Mini running for about a week now and it's been great - decent amount of heat and hash rate (just under 41TH/s), and it's very quiet. Hopefully it will be reliable long-term. It's very "spouse friendly" because you can treat it as a heater and just set the temp you want.

AFAIK there isn't any sensor, the filter guide is just based on the length of time it's been running (possibly factoring in the fan speed?)

How often it will need cleaning will ultimately depend on the environment. I was worried it might be prone to suck up dust / hair but it's far enough off the ground and the fans aren't so powerful that I don't think it's really an issue to worry about. I expect when it tells me the filter needs cleaning it probably won't and is just designed for worse-case environments.

The fans are kind of gentle, not like the kind on Bitmain or even a traditional fan-heater.

Interesting development over on Indiegogo. The entire Avalon campaign is no longer accepting contributions and is "under review."

Wonder if this has to do with the insane tariffs people were being charged on top of their pledges to get released from the shipper. For whatever reason I wasn't impacted at all (early backer, USA), and got my 3s with no issues, tariffs, etc.

Anyone want to share their experience with the Mini 3 and Nano 3S?

I received my mini 3 last week - I've been getting sporadic E-03 (power failure) errors from the start, if it's on any setting other than eco.

It says it has a hashrate (30TH/s on eco) but it's not actually submitting any work... the logs are full of "ERROR job_id compare error"...

Canaan support has been responsive, but not entirely helpful.  "Send us a video of the problem...", "change your pool settings", "do a reset again", "are you sure it's plugged in properly?"... ffs.

Unit seems defective - but they don't seem too interested in actually taking it back/repairing/whatever.

Hi guys,
Thanks Canaan, the nano 3S seen while working is even more impressive! The construction quality is of the highest level, you immediately notice the attention to detail. The round display is wonderful, in high definition, it gives a touch of elegance to this product that has become an icon of the new way of mining at home (look on my X) 👍

yes - but it was not a nano or mini - it was a A1246 90Th/s model.

on a different note.

I got one of the fans for my regular nano - never actually used it until last week but it was DOA and they sent me only 1 fan though I have 3 nanos.  Is there a way to buy the psu fans? or to buy the nano 3s psu's to use for the regular nanos?

we bought some thru the indiegogo site but after the tariff bill came - oof the prices were quite high. So, yea avoid that if possible.
