The Nano 3 can consume up to 140 watts of power, and your adapter is also rated for 140 watts. I don't know how this will affect the device's performance under overload.

the nano 3 is not well made.

the usb c jack will die in under 1 year. it is pretty much garbage .

give it away or sell it and buy this

This same thing happened to a friend, it scared the shit out of me that I had to sold my nano3 for a bit cheaper price and I don't even mind, some people on Reddit complained the same.

I don't know why I don't take my time to do some research before purchasing that miner, they do got me though with good bargain on AliExpress, bought one for myself and one for a friend.

Worst purchase ever even though mine don't die or stopped working, my friend digested the loss but I can tell that he isn't happy at all.

Actually it's more a matter of how much current is being pulled vs the wattage. The hair-thin contacts in a USB-C connector are rated at 5A. As a designer I have issues with that and yes to me running 5A through them for 24/7/365 is a bad idea but - the PD specs let's you get around that by supplying higher voltage. The Avalon's use 20v but could instead request 24, 28, 32 and even 48v from the PD supply which would give the needed wattage using less current. The mfgrs just need to use regulators that can accept higher input voltage and program the device to request the PD supply to produce it.

Why Canaan (and Sidehack) picked using 20v is a mystery to me because the higher current pulled kills the connectors

From an engineering perspective, the old 20-volt standard allowed for the use of inexpensive MOSFETs, capacitors, and PWM controllers. If you raise the voltage to 36 or 48 volts, you need to use more expensive components.
If the manufacturer meets the technical requirements and the equipment lasts through the warranty period, they do not raise the price of the equipment. There is strong competition in this market.

yeah if they did 48v x 2 amp it would have lasted.

but they did not.

and I have 2 bricks.

I am a much bigger fan of the hammer bc04 and the Thor p2

the hammer for LTC is also good.

No worries they will last for years to come.

I wouldn't flash it right away. Since the same PSU works with other units, I'd start with a factory reset and set up the pool again. If it still reports an incompatible power adapter, then check the firmware version and contact Canaan. Flashing it too soon may only make the fault harder to isolate.

Reflashing the firmware won't help if there are faulty components on the board.
You need to examine the power circuitry, though there aren't many parts there that are prone to failure. You should start by replacing the connector, then check the voltage at the inductors and the controller- or do it the other way around if the connector is actually fine.
