You can hold more coins as much as you can but i suggest stay away on new alt projects . And focus instead on top altcoins. Because most of them always plunges back and turn to shitcoin. So don't ever put money on it especially if you're planning for long run and good reward afterwards.  Btw.solana and eth and some alts are on dipped now i suggest buy more.

You dropped good suggestion in cryptocurrencies investment, my suggestion is also similar with you, i never recommend to invest in the new launch coins, especially i think TON project is just stupid, mostly TON based coins are going dead in this bearish market, don't invest on TON chain project especially bot airdrop coins.

If you ask me for advice, I will definitely recommend investing in Bitcoin, but if you want to invest in something besides Bitcoin, I can't give more than 20% in Altcoins. But I can suggest you to invest in some coins like Ethereum, XRP, BNB, Solana among Altcoins, and I can't recommend investing in other meme coins, but if you can analyze and invest based on your experience, it will be best. But remember that Bitcoin is not the best investment, 5000 dollars is a lot of money, so do it carefully.

Many altcoins projects are purely scam and you need to be aware of that. You don't need to hold too many but the ones that have great movement and would take in the market for a very long time. Many would stay for a while before the price crashing out while few would stay in the market for a very long time.  You don't have to hold too many because that could be so tempting with the probability of losing part of your portfolio if any of these coins finally crash out of the market.

Yes, Op should have understood the movement of the crypto market which is very volatile at all times, studying bitcoin since 2020 is enough to choose the right investment either in Bitcoin or altcoin. Whether during your playing you never do personal research or just rely on other people's strategies, I do not recommend investing without personal research because there are many risks that arise after entering trading.
I myself in this case choose to invest in top Altcoins such as Ethereum, XRP and Bnb but most of the big investors choose bitcoin as a long-term investment so that it is safer than altcoins, the decision is in your own hands depending on which is safer and according to each person's research capabilities.

How many coins you invest depends on you only. and on the amount of your investment. How much risk you take according to your goal depends on the ability to take and market situation. Following some common strategies and guidance, you can create a strategy in an investment and you can earn your profit from there. Apart from gaining you experience for this, a good strategy is to keep different types of altcoins that means you are some of the popular altcoins such as Ethereum, Binance Coin, Cardano. You can invest in them. But choosing multiple art coins should be very high risky too, it may only be difficult to rely on you because it can be difficult to focus on them.

It is not enough and even more things need to be done to judge whether the Altcoin is good or not,
it is very complex and of course the top 10 CMC cannot be trusted because we have seen how LUNA and UST collapsed overnight.

Doing deeper research and of course looking at all aspects will be better to provide more vigilance, not just looking at the existing list.
As a person who has been in this crypto space for more than 8 years, there are many lessons that I have taken to determine how many altcoins I have to hold on to and how many I can hold.

BTC is certainly the main coin and ETH is the king of altcoins and of course follows the price of Bitcoin,
All altcoins are based on Bitcoin so we must always look at how bitcoin moves.

Now more altcoins are appearing and altcoins that are not able to survive and do not have a clear development will just disappear or be abandoned and become garbage,
but altcoins that are able to survive and continue to develop with a strong community must be maintained.

Don't know about you but for me, it is pretty straight forward. There are lots of scam altcoins but I think there are also lots of legit alts due to how massive their library are. I think it is pretty obvious that we don't need all of them even though we can afford it, as that was pretty hassle already and having a few but investing more on to it, can do the job already. That few is obviously those that are performing well.

I think you are right that collecting more coins is tempting but if one consider it like a hobby and don't mind losing, or stressing himself in the ups and downs of the price, that must only be fine. There might be people that are like that because if we think about it, some also has a bizarre collection of things.

Which token will good and which token will bad that is Very difficult to say. So i think more Altcoin we have to select and invest on that. If we select one or two Altcoin that will be very risky. If we select more than two altcoin then there has big chance to profit.

So my observation if anyone invest on few altcoin rather than one or two Altcoin he will be huge profitable i strongly believe it.

Picking five strong altcoins at the range of $200 value would be a great long term move for Op, investing that amount in Bitcoin won't make huge impact on the portfolio. However, altcoins demand observations, to know when to leave, he can sell and reinvest.

agreed with few quality altcoin picks, but sometime we need to diversify for the sake of catching the narrative so I guess 4-5 is good enough.
but it depends on OP whether he can follow the narrative or not otherwise if it's 5k just stick with 1 altcoin that OP really knows because diversification takes a lot of effort in managing.

but if we're talking about altcoin here anyway, picking 1 coin to 5 coins for the sake of diversification barely make difference because altcoins always pump and dump in unison.

I think depends on how many altcoins you follow out there since market for this coins or tokens is so volatile and its good if you can make sure that you can follow the latest happening on the market so that you won't missed out those good opportunity to exit when needed.

Yes, this is very crucial because you should be expected to invest on only alt coins you have keep it market activities on track and the you will be better enlightened to the behavior of the coins. Then you will know when to buy and when sell inclusive to how long to hold the coin knowing how volatile alt coins could be. It doesn't matter how many altcoins to hold, what matters is the profits generated, is it going to be massive or low? I'm stick to invest in altcoins not more than 5 because I'm not in to buying of dumping altcoins in the market. We maximize our profits and minimize our low losses which should be imperatively monitored in the market. For me, if I make losses, I go back and check my mistakes, the reasons why I made losses because it's not going to be a friendly if we happen to repeat the exact same mistakes again.

Newbies are more vulnerable to the system, their mode of operation is public and not discreet, they potential targets for losses and this is not key subject to follow. Advising one to hold ETH is good one, but it should be for longterm if you're targeting huge profits. We know the dormant movement of both BTC and ETH in the crypto market. We take our stands and crucially select our techniques to be applicable.

The more the better. But you should keep a track on it. The amount you hold should not be very low as you'd be losing the price advantage on commission.
The strategy I implement is I decide the priority of the coin and buy them on a multiple of $100. I have some worth $100, some worth $200 and a few worth $500. I track them on a spreadsheet, google sheets as they are easily accessible on any device. I don't keep them idle either. I place them on different sell orders so that I don't miss quick spikes. And if they again fall below, I accumulate more.
