Sports nowadays give players more opportunities like the old days; even Messi and Ronaldo you mentioned are not immune to chasing money. What they love is playing football and displaying their skill, and at the same time, making money while doing what they love.

I don't see anything wrong with them moving to a better area that gives them better pay opportunities. Aside from moving into small leagues and teams, they are also there to play football. The other difference is the type of trophy that they are limited to.

I think all of this has happened from time to time, nothing really ends because all of this goes as it is. like the fact that you present, there are many professional athletes/players who want to move clubs because they want to get a big salary, at the same time many players/athletes are demanding a salary increase for their new contract. currently Saudi presents something for players who are interested in playing in their league, some are interested and not a few are still continuing their mission and ambition to compete at the European level. whatever the reason, it's all because of choice. I'm not sure, but it seems like you only see everything on the surface. global media says, currently sports has become an industry that brings in a lot of money in it. maybe we agree, the era of Messi and Ronaldo is over but not with the passion of football itself. after all, currently we see many young talents emerging, although not yet reaching the peak stage achieved by the two mega stars in the history of football. IMO, this is not a problem, but it depends on how you look at it.

I've seen the news that Neymar left Saudi Arabia and I don't see anything unusual with that. If I am an athlete and makes a lot of money playing for a few games and bringing some money to the team where I'll sign, I deserve that money because I've trained all my life for it.

So, it's the same as us being employed and trying to look for better deals and offers outside our company. And whoever gives us some good money then it all means that we're valuable and worth it for them.

Just as what the title says, each of them leaves a legacy and they have their own eras to make.

Nowadays people does things due to what they see that are coming out of it, and of course during our days in school you would want to study mechanical engineering immediate your parents knows that you want to choose that as a course of study you would see them stopping you immediately they have knowledge that Doctors are well paid, they stresses you to study medicine in school so after graduation you gets employed and started earning higher as they have dreamed.

But here, there is something they don't know about, first they don't know if your Interest is to study what they asked you or not but, to obey your parents you wouldn't have any choice than doing what they asked you to do. Same is applicable to your questions or what you want people to discuss here.

People knows that in football there is a huge payment if they finally becomes successful with it, but then most of them only put the interest to get recognized and after which they get to well known clubs to play you wouldn't see them having that passion instead they would focused on the amount to be paid by their clubs making it that hard for their clubs to pay, but most times when the clubs noticed their importance in their team they wouldn't have any choice to pay just to keep them on their clubs due to their performances.

What you see is common in every sector today, be it the entertainment industry same things happens, they aren't out there for the entertainment anymore but as a competitions to their fellow stars since they are being paid specific amount they also increases their values.

I don't think it works like that, the passion for football doesn't end with Ronaldo and Messi, the same could have been said with the generation of Pelé and Maradona, of Ronaldiño and Ronaldo Nazario, new stars will always be created that stand out above everything else, what happens is that nowadays the magical moments have been reduced due to competitiveness, few current players dare to do the "joga bonito" because football has evolved to a more mechanized and strategic environment, but surely more will come, because people like football for the spectacle, not to watch their team for 70 minutes touching the ball without taking risks.

When I first read your post, I could only be silent because I think there is some truth to it. Especially in your words, it's all about money.
So what do we want now if the condition of the football sport that we follow and watch every season is like that? Rich clubs can buy any player.
Then we will only see this situation continue to our children and grandchildren?
The most likely thing that can change all of this lies in the players themselves. It could also be done by implementing rules agreed upon by parties who have the capacity regarding this.

I don’t think such rules can be implemented as we see that no one is really to settle for less. Not even gambling companies now sponsors

OP wants to see players reject high offers from money spinning leagues like the Saudi Professional League and Major League Soccer because they are passionate about playing competitive football. I will say that there are still players who are not driven by money in football. Player like Luka Modric who is supposed to move to SPL considering their age and achievements, decided to remain in Real Madrid and earn far lesser than he was offered in the Gulf league.

Judging from the society pressure that is been displayed by fellow footballers in the industry, it is obvious that players now only just want to fit into lifestyle standard, which is why majority opt in for money, rather than passion just as in the days when Ronaldo and Messi started their football career. Because if you are to look into Ronaldo's story, we could noticed that he had the passion for football right from an early stage, to the point when he was said to have quit school at 16yrs to focus full time on his Football career, which lead to his first contract with Sporting CP, before joining Manchester United for a transfer fee of 12million euros, where he became very popular.
So on the contrary, the quest to want to fit in the luxurious lifestyle is one criteria that is killing the zeal of genuine passion by players of a football club. But that doesn't mean we don't have a few who are passionate about their football career, just as Kylian Mbappe, who rose to stardom due to his passion and commitment.

Like it or not, believe it or not also, the world we live in today revolves around money, it is no longer doubt that money actually rules the money for so many people, and this is why I am not surprised that most gamblers have shifted from for passion of the game to gambling for profit, many who are not even supposed to have anything to do with gambling have all gotten themeselves involved in it simply because it's possible to make money off it.

Same thing happening with most players just as you said it, but I would also like to point out something here, the fact that a player is moving or decided to move to a bigger club where he possibly will get paid better doesn't necessarily mean he's no longer playing for the passion, the passion for football is what got him to becoming a football player in the first place, and when offering a service on what we are passionate about, you can't always do it for free because it's what we have taken up as a profession, no longer a hobby.

Passion is indeed an important consideration when it comes to making a choice on what tot go for, we are seeing people around the world with their different skills doing well and performing valiantly all because they have passion for what they are doing, time will always bring to us different talents and we have our own decision in choosing between which we want and don't, but through passion, we have the opportunity of getting the best form them all, why we are all working harder is to make enough room for our prospects in life, most especially when it comes to career and at the end, we choose between if its a profitable one or not base on the attraction it has generated for us from the public.

Indeed, players do their best to show their talent to make more money. But of course, they won't be there, and nobody will take them if they don't have the passion for playing. We'd the market inflation this time; people become practical and take the higher opportunity offered.

Of course, one consideration for most is the profitability of what they will be doing. Not only getting the satisfaction but at least get something out of it. That's not true. You can't exempt those two. Did they agree to lesser payroll when they left their previous clubs? I know it took a lot of money to lure CR7 to the Saudi league. If he were actually playing for passion and not the money, he shouldn't have asked for all that. In fact, why are those two not playing in their own local leagues if it were for the passion alone? Whether we admit it or not, every sports person seeks the money in whatever engagements they go into. The passion may be there but the ultimate target is the money involved.
