You have a good suggestion OP and maybe my addition to those irresponsible gamblers is that they should go back to knowing and understanding what and how gambling really is because an irresponsible gambler is someone who does not understand how gambling really is so they find it difficult to accept the situation when they experience defeat.
And one of the reasons why I say that is because I believe that when a gambler already understands what and how gambling really is along with the concept of winning and losing, they should feel hurt or emotional when they experience defeat and they should also not take various actions that lead to aggressive behavior, I am very sure that one of the things that makes them irresponsible is because they gamble based on misunderstanding.

What you mentioned is true, when gambling temptation will always be there and it can affect and haunt our minds, Even this can make players forget the reasonable limits in gambling.

Not a few people experience this, even I think most gamblers experience this where they are more interested in gambling whether with disappointing or pleasant results, the point is if we are not able to control ourselves enough then there will be a strong temptation that can make us gamble continuously without a good sense of responsibility.

I will just add one more suggestion to the OP’s list. Don’t revenge gamble, that means when you’re on a losing streak and you can’t stop playing because you want to recover your losses. Please stop. Turn off your computer or mobile device and do some physical activity. Chasing after losses will only get you deeper into the rabbit hole.

Making hasty decisions in gambling is a mental disorder that works alongside chasing after losses. At that level of thoughts the gambler wouldn't be in control, the best solution would be seeking for help, I don't think the gambler would be able to stop or work towards it alone. Unless it hasn't eaten deep to the player, they could shut down their gambling machine without hanging back.

In other words this is when the gambler lets his emotion to be the decision making body in his life rather than making decisions from his knowledge and right sense of reasoning.  Making decision from your emotion over time will only lead to more loses, you can't expect to be on the winning side when you are making irresponsible decisions and spending more than you ever imagined.  I have experienced some gamblers put in their last in hope of winning or doubling the money but they failed to consider the consequences of their action if things go south, and it always ends up in regret. Yes it should be like that, I mean as you said that gamblers should think first about some things like what OP said above before they play or before they get involved in gambling, but the problem is that not all gamblers can always remember that every time they want to play which happens because they are too focused on winning so they ignore some things that should be considered so that they can be more responsible and that is the reason why they always find it difficult to accept defeat. I agree you can't go into gambling with practically nothing and then expect to see yourself win. That is a fools errand and you will most likely lose you money 90% of the time, if you're on your last dime that puts you in a pickle! There are many other ways to make some money without having to risk it all and I think people who go to this point are so desparate they will put it all on the line just for the chance of winning.

I have meet just a friend who revenge gambled one time and was successful in it, but that only one that one time, but the bad side is that he is not battling with gambling addiction because of how good he commited himself to it and chasing after his loses, to him or according to him, chasing loses was fun, it's like going into a race with the casino and trying to come first, it used to be fun for him but not anymore as he is trying all he could to quit gambling now but finding it difficult to.

One good thing is that he is not addicted according to what you said, and also he is very aware of the level of risk he is taking and probably I guess he can be able to handle the gets after chasing the losses and didn't get to profit from it. You are right, but practicing true discipline is not as easy as many of think it is, discipline isn't just about making a decision, but it has to also do with having the will power to stay true to it.
I personally have come across several gamblers who claim to be gambling responsibly by them making sure they discipline themselves not to over gamble or do what they have not initially planned for, but over time, many of this persons ended up in one gambling related problem or the other, some even borrowed money to gambling, ended up losing it and found it very difficult to pay back the money.

So, who ever wants to practice responsible gambling and won't be serious about discipline isn't really ready, one must ensure to have the will power to practise true discipline at all times.

....and sometimes, not all gamblers would wanna share their problems. Even if they did, some would still be to a senseless addict that can't even help himself, talk more of the other person that seeks for an advice.
But yeah, the best resort would be reaching out to someone that has once been in your shoes(or prolly worse) but got over it.

I still feel like there's a whole lot to do to keep the habit responsible... If I'd wanna describe, it's like walking on hot coals and hoping to not get burnt. The rules is all you need to stay awake in the game....

Not everyone in such a situation can decide to talk to their loved ones, and not everyone is responsible people. If gambling does not bring anything good in the life of a gambler, then you need to get away from them and it is logical, the same principle should be adhered to in other aspects of life, because life is very multifaceted and interesting, it can always find a lot of fun for yourself, for everyone it will be something individual. And so, in principle, if you are ready to talk to your loved ones about your problems, and they are ready to listen and help, then of course you should do it.

I'm not sure if this is the right term—prevention is better than cure.

What I mean is, why do we need to wait to get into the situation when we can prevent it? Why not gamble responsibly in the first place? I think we should not just take action because we are already gambling irresponsibly but rather take action to prevent it.

We believe that we all can change and might fall into the trap, but if we have the mindset to stay responsible, it gonna happen. It only needs a mindset conditioning and self-control.
