I can't say I was not expecting this with the people that were around him and Eric Trump. XRP Founder, Cardano's Founder etc. I do find it stupid, because not even ADA holders use ADA but well...

EDIT: Bitcoin and Ethereum are also going to be included in the strategic reserve.

EDIT 2 (7th of March 2025): Trump has officially signed a bitcoin strategic reserve. The reserve will include the current holding of the U.S goverment, but the secretary of treasury and commerce is authorized to introduce plans to buy more bitcoin, as long as it doesn't cost the taxpayers anything. I am surprised with this news, honestly and I did not expect it.

But I spent some minutes to think about it, and my thinking is you know who is Donald J Trump, and he is smart, and knows well that it is easier to pump other cryptocurrencies than Bitcoin. It's my first thinking.

A second thinking is he will possibly announce to add Bitcoin to this strategic reserve later. It's not big deal with him. He did it many times in his political career, changing quickly and oppositely.

instead of bitcoin, he chose to make the three altcoins as reserves for the us. it's just a shame that out of all of them he chose those three altcoins, and didn't include bitcoin at all in the plan. though i really hope that he can at least prioritize bitcoin first, then later he includes other crypto, but too bad that he prefers to make those three altcoins as their reserves.

Well I don't expect so much from Donald Trump, I don't want to be amongst those who worship him all just because what Crypto-currency can gain from some of his decisions.
I believe with or without Donald Trump's decision the crypto-currency market can still thrive well especially Bitcoin.
But I actually think so far Donald Trump hasn't been too poorly but fingers crossed, the lists of coins here may not favor Bitcoin but still in general it's a good on for Crypto-currency and maybe he may just fulfil all his promise to the Crypto-currency community.

Flippening call on Solana will appear but Solana fans will be disapointed like Ethereum supporters and Ripple supporters in past years. Bitcoin won't be flipped by any altcoin, because it can not be stopped and attacked easily like any altcoin in this market. Only Bitcoin has this technical and practical strength and together with its current big market cap against altcoins, there will be no flippening.

Trump is the man if his word. He promised and now he is delivering it. 2025 will be the beginning of the real bull market of crypto it seems. If USA adds btc to its reserves, they can pay off their debts for free since btc will go rampage, and btc holders will be rich af. It will be a double kill.

I was looking at the market just after he made the post, and the market reacted immediately with the price of ETH and SOL shooting up; the price of Bitcoin shortly followed with the inclusion after, but if it was not mentioned, we would have seen more dip because that would have affected confidence to an extent.

It would have been a big headline if BTC was left out.

I couldn't see the link where trump said those coins are among the reserves they are planning. But if this is what they want I guess its coming and Musk had not endorsed Doge to Trump? Damn it. I was expecting too much for Musk to keep shilling Doge but now it looks like he is going to abandon it.

What surprises me about this is the emphasis on shitcoins, but if you think about it, it's not so surprising. Surely he has contacts with many interests in those cryptocurrencies and hence the inclusion.

Although I am a bitcoin maximalist, I also have to admit that including some cryptocurrencies is not bad, but I would like to see the proportion first. If the first by far in terms of USD equivalent invested is bitcoin I will not see it so bad.

The founders of XRP, ADA, SOL, ETH all paid off Trump to be included in the reserve which is why they were added.
Bitcoin has no founders to pay him off which is why he excluded BTC at first and only mentioned it later like it was an afterthought.

As usual Trump is for sale to the highest bidder. I was surprised he didn't include Trumpcoin and Melaniacoin in the reserve.
But that will probably come later, along with Fartcoin and Pepecoin.

I wonder why he chooses this bunch of shitcoins into US crypto currency reserves I was expecting bitcoin to be the first crypto currency in that reserve however the effect of this on the price of bitcoin is really amazing. Bitcoin is heading back to $100k

It is kinda weird that the United States only chooses XRP, SOL, and ADA as its Strategic Reserve, I can't even believe that Bitcoin is not included in their strategic reserve. I think many people are disappointed with this, especially Trump supporters who support Bitcoin. But even so, I feel like there is something hidden, in my opinion, there is a certain intention behind all of this, it could be their strategy to gain more profit in Crypto, especially in Bitcoin.

Glad you corrected your post because he has been vocal about bitcoin, including ADA, SIL and XRP in the post now confirms while he later change from using bitcoin to cryptocurrency which means they are planning to hold a huge bag of different selected cryptocurrency. The market has already responded positively to such news with bitcoin over 10% already. With this announcement, I'm more convinced that Trump will be making good with his promises on cryptocurrency. Perhaps the drop in price might just be for some of the big pockets to take their position.

That people can't read when it says "includes".  Everyone who has been paying attention knows it includes bitcoin.
