even though bitcoin is less scalable compared to some altcoins, we cannot deny that bitcoin is more trustworthy than all altcoins. it is decentralized, much more secure, and its limited supply makes it a digital currency that is worthy of being called the king of cryptocurrencies.... and no altcoin will be able to compete with it or even be a threat to it.
Bitcoin is even more than just being called a digital gold. I think it has outgrown that title. Bitcoin is just Bitcoin, and the king of all digital assets. Its limited supply makes it unique, and the decentralised nature also makes more people have trust in it since it can't be controlled by anyone. It's not like gold, which its price currently is being affected by and increased by dollar devaluation. Bitcoin price and value are driven by demand. I also think it is very difficult for altcoins to match bitcoin, indeed with the emergence of many altcoins providing new features and technologies such as faster or higher transactions in order to invite or attract new investors and users, but parties such as large parties do not have too many altcoins compared to bitcoin. It is true what you said bitcoin has its own uniqueness and is far different from altcoins and many of them are convinced that Bitcoin has gained very high trust from various important elements in this world, in my opinion it is difficult for altcoins to match it.

If Bitcoin still leads in the charts and direct the movement of all other coins out there, just how would any of them coins become a threat ever? I don’t see any other developer being as selfless as Satoshi was ore would there be any coin that would lead in the initiative that Bitcoin came with. Investors just wouldn’t accept it and that’s how Bitcoin would continue to stay ahead leading.

Most people know crypo maket with Bitcoin, Newbie only know crypo with Bitcoin, no altcoin can be threat to Bitcoin, You are absolutely right, even with the older technology Bitcoin is the future, with the countries are investing in it the Bitcoin is not going anywhere, it is here to stay, every day there is new altcoin I'm the market most of them are scam, they don't serve any purpose, People are losing money on them, People who has invested in a Bitcoin never regretted it, People who say Bitcoin can be bested, they are in a illusion, they need to study more, they need more knowledge in general, Bitcoin is the future it is here to stay I am fully positive about that, and Bitcoin will be the store of value for the countries, Countries will protect their money in Bitcoin.

I don't really see the possibilities of any other cryptocurrency being a threat to bitcoin because it bitcoin has proven to be a potential coin over the years, it's worth and value can't be equate or compare to any altcoin.so many altcoin has really gone down in value in fact reducing to dust.Despite the volatile nature of bitcoin , investors has built the trust that after each corrections the price will always skyrocket which not the same with altcoin.so there is no way any altcoin can become a threat to bitcoin even Ethereum that some investors are thinking will be competiting with bitcoin, can not be compared to bitcoin.

Exactly. People must be completely out of their mind. Especially altcoin developers and crypto newbies. No matter what shiny-new features a coin has, it will never be able to "beat the King". Ethereum, which was once hailed as Bitcoin's sucessor, ultimately failed. It's now more centralized than ever. What makes you think other altcoins will do better? At least, we have plenty of options to choose from. The more altcoins there are, the less congested Bitcoin will be. We can play (experiment) with many altcoins to test out the Blockchain's capabilities. Or we could just take advantage of their extremely-volatile market prices to make big bucks in the long run. I'm certain BTC will outlive many "shitcoins". That's a guarantee.

bitcoin being the first and largest cryptocurrency has survived external attacks and attempted ban from government, which no altcoin has face such attack, because bitcoin has already paved way for them. Monero has and is experiencing just that. It's also the coin that could/will surpass Bitcoin's actual usage for day to day transactions. If BTC is the store of value, XMR is the digital, fungible cash people can actually use. I don't think it's a threat to Bitcoin, I think it is a compliment to Bitcoin.

Although I also believe that no altcoin will be able to threaten bitcoin in the next 1 or 2 decades because looking at the way the altcoins are developing, I am not very optimistic. But I wouldn't call anyone who thinks bitcoin can be beaten delusional or ignorant. Let's not forget that our world does not stop and is even developing rapidly. Bitcoin is the result of that development so we should not be surprised if a new invention, a better currency than bitcoin is created in the future. Those people are not delusional, they are just more open to the development of the world and love innovation .

Bitcoin was just born to reign in the crypto currency world. All crypto currency occupies more than half of the world’s Bitcoin. But some altcoins, such as Ethereum or other projects, have brought strong proposals in the field of separate technology or use, which may be more effective in some cases than Bitcoin. For example, Ethereum,Contracts and Desentalized applications are a powerful platform for applications that have created a different use field than Bitcoin. But it will be foolish to compare with Bitcoin no matter how much coins come in the market. Bitcoin is continuing to keep up with the current world. Bitcoin has gained equally popularity in all countries of the world. And its usage is constantly increasing.

It wasnt talking about having that reigning but rather its creation did really give out that significant impact about decentralized transactions and anonymity on which it did really spark out that interest on what the community does have. For those OG's out there or into those who had been here on this market for a while then they would really be able to appreciate it out on how far it had become before it do able to reach up into this point. Are altcoins a threat to Bitcoin? Realistically speaking then there are really projects under those ranks do have that much more better in terms of tps, scalability and other similar aspects on which it could thrown up Bitcoin in the waters, but since it is the origin of crypto then you cant really be able to stop thinking that it is much more worth on sticking into the things on where this crypto market had been originated on the first place. If you are really that wanting to invest into Bitcoin then it will be up to your choice but if you do seem that altcoins are much more worth then it will be also your choice. Everything will really be that basing up into someones finances and preference.

Bitcoin is more decentralized than Ethereum or any other cryptocurrency that you can think about but why Bitcoin is not being used for building of other projects or decentralized applications like Ethereum is because Bitcoin was not created for that purpose but was just created to be used as a currency and that is were the focus of Bitcoin is. Bitcoin can never see other cryptocurrency as a threat and I think Bitcoin or the founder of Bitcoin if alive will be happy for the growth of how the market has gotten to but will be angry with the greediness that has entered the market with lots iof cammers launching their own coins to steal money from investors that are not wise to invest in the projects without considering what will happen to their investments if suddenly the project stop existing.

Bitcoin has built trust with the public and made it a digital asset that is quite suitable to be used for both regular transactions and as a store of value. No other cryptocurrency can catch up or even match what Bitcoin has achieved. Whether it is Ethereum, XRP, Solana, you name it, but it just can't beat Bitcoin, both in terms of trust and value. People can say that their Altcoins can beat Bitcoin, but the truth is that Bitcoin still holds the market and Altcoins are just trying to follow it in the shadows.

Other coins will not be a threat to BTC now, but it will surely happen in the nearest future because BTC will not remain on top forever which we know how those coins pump and dump in the industry. Even though there is a coin to be a threat to BTC, it will be ETH because the price of ETH is very close to BTC but there is a little gap that will make ETH not to take the position of BTC now. I know BTC will lead other coins for long years but it will not be forever, all those coins you are seeing doing well now, a time will come BTC and ETH will be the story of the past because other coins will take over their position to have more investors than ETH and BTC.

No current altcoin will get close to Bitcoin. I said "currently" because I can't be sure of what the future holds. Among all the coins right now, none will ever be relatively close to Bitcoin in any way. I'm not saying this because I'm biased towards Bitcoin, but it's what the facts show. Definitely not ETH that is underperforming and becoming shit by the day.
Altcoins can be a threat to Bitcoin in the sense that their bad reputation affects bitcoin because casuals see Bitcoin as any other crypto and when those altcoins do untrustworthy things, it affects bitcoin. It takes people who are already familiar with crypto to know that bitcoin is different from other cryptos.

I have being giving this question a thought for days now, if other altcoins can be a threat to bitcoin especially ethereum which some folks are saying is a threat to bitcoin, and I came to understand that, the reason why other altcoins can never be a threat to bitcoin is that, bitcoin being the first and largest cryptocurrency has survived external attacks and attempted ban from government, which no altcoin has face such attack, because bitcoin has already paved way for them.
bitcoin has also overcome many social and political trials, which those trials almost led to the shut down of bitcoin, yet bitcoin gain more attention and adoption, which no altcoin has gained such attention and adoption, not even ethereum which some folks out there are saying is a threat to bitcoin.
Bitcoin has already dominated the crypto space, because it has always remained active and accessible without interruption, and to my own best of knowledge I don't think if companies like Facebook, Microsoft and Google have achieved this level of reliability which bitcoin has achieved so far, talk more of altcoins.
And I we also like to see more contributions from members of this forum, let prove to some folks out there that altcoins can never be a threat to bitcoin, because alot of folks out there are saying that ethereum will be the end and the down fall of bitcoin, which I doubt.
Bitcoin is not actually the first crypto currency. The first cryptocurrency was eCash, developed by the company DigiCash in 1990. Then there were also some other predecessors to Bitcoin. Satoshi was not really the first person to write the code, he assembled together the right parts of failed attempts of cryptocurrency creation and created the first successful cryptocurrency and called it a Bitcoin. One of the best thing that happened to Bitcoin is also Satoshi's disappearance, it made Bitcoin truly decentralized and no other coin can achieve this, ever! Altcoins are not a threat to Bitcoin. If there is an altcoin that performs better than Bitcoin and surpasses Bitcoin, then I welcome such altcoin, I don't see anything bad into that, we are not married to Bitcoin after all. There is not really any threat if we keep in mind that Bitcoin's code can be changed at any time if there is a full approval from the community. If any altcoin advances, Bitcoin can advance too.

When we talk about cryptocurrency we are mainly referring to Bitcoin, it is the popularity of Bitcoin and it's adoption that is driving the demands of altcoins, if Bitcoin doesn't have any potentials anymore nobody will think of buying altcoins. If Bitcoin were to crash today, which is very unlikely to happen, it can be the end of other cryptocurrencies because there will not be trust anymore to buy any cryptocurrencies. No crypto comes near Bitcoin, even Ethereum that stands at a distant second cannot be compared to Bitcoin, it remains the king of every cryptocurrency now and in the foreseeable future.

Yes, if there is an altcoin or some currency that can beat bitcoin, I would welcome it too. I also think there is nothing to be ashamed or afraid of if it happens, I even hope it can happen sooner. Because after all, they are all tools and their purpose is to serve humanity, there is no reason to fear or seek to hinder that development. But looking at the current situation, I tend to agree with everyone that there will be no altcoin that is good enough and can surpass bitcoin to dominate the crypto industry in the near future. Looking at the altcoin market is like a gambling place, there is no serious development that shows they are trying to create something useful like what bitcoin gives us.

I don't see any coin toppling BTC in any time, if at all. They are not sincere and don't uphold the same or better values.

I think we should stop comparing bitcoin to altcoins because bitcoin is special and will continue to dominate the market. It was not because it was the first crypto created, but because of its usefulness and the benefits we get. Which I believe was far enough to think that altcoins can beat it. If some people don't believe this, it was their opinion and personal market views. Of course, we never expect everyone to have that kind of positivity, especially those who don't know about bitcoin yet, because these people are the ones who spread negativity.

Among all things first, let talk about the limited supply of bitcoin, I wonder how many altcoins has such limited supply and then it's less risky to begin with than any altcoin anyone can compare. With it's decentralized feature that places the responsibility and security of your funds in the owners hands away from centralized control, it just builds people's confidence and trust and with the level of individual and institutional adoptions it could only take a miracle coin to get bitcoin off the vanguard.
This is more than a decade now since bitcoin came into existence, and until now no any other coin has surpassed bitcoin and has always stands out for its decentralized features which no any other altcoins can be compared to it. It was well faced a lot of challenges while growing but that doesn’t stop it from achieving its main and fundamental purpose of invention. It will take years from now to see a coin that can stand at least close to bitcoin, Ethereum tried and seriously they failed and I can’t imagine any coin coming close to how far Ethereum has come to even come close to competing with bitcoin. So the answer to OP’s question is NO and this won’t even call for any discussions further to deliberate on.

Hmmm well, here pop in my mind that what makes Bitcoin different than all other cryptocurrencies?. its truly decentralized nature. Altcoins are barely completely decentralized, even if their developers say. Let's us supposed an example of ETH it used to have a PoW consensus mechanism before, which made people think that it was decentralized, but then they changed it to PoS, and that makes it clear that it is not Even Bitcoin had forks, so many of them, but the original chain is still there, and that is the main reason why it's considered to be so secure and safe because even if forks are done, it doesn't change the total supply or make any changes in the main chain. So if people understand this well than for sure they will stop comparing Bitcoin with altcoins. Even if some altcoins provide better functionalities such as faster transactions, lower fees, and bigger blocksize, they still can't compete with Bitcoin because they are not as secure as Bitcoin since they are not truly decentralized.
