it is not impossible to see a new league springing up and becoming very popular even to the extent that it gets to the same level with the premier league, LaLiga, Bundesliga and most of the top leagues. even though it is possible, fact is that it will take years and when i say years it will certainly take nothing less than twenty years' time to see them getting anywhere close to the current state that these leagues have gotten to but even at then, you can't beat what leagues like the premier league has done.

the premier league has been in existence for the past thirty years through which it has built herself to this level we have seen it today, other leagues like LaLiga and most of the leagues where not just built in a single day but took a lot of effort and investment that saw them even getting to the level of the English league. the current global economy is not even doing really well to think that of all the sector to push ion funds into developing that the footballing sector is what a nation would want to go into and invest for twenty plus years hoping they can get to this level.

practically, it might look impossible to see a fresh league coming to dominate the world of sports ahead of the current teams. if you even talk of the possibility of the Saudi pro league doing that then it might look possible but even at that, it might not be too easy for them considering that some basic factor makes it easy to relate with the current trending league.

No, it can't. Those league have been the most popular for decades. They have the richest teams, that have fans all over the world. Everyone knows about Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Inter, Juventus, etc.. Do you think that some Saudi Arabian or Chinese football club is going to beat the big European clubs in terms of popularity? The Saudi Professional League has lots of money and nothing else. The Saudi football clubs could buy expensive players, but they lack marketing and the Asian Champions League is way less popular than the European Champions League.

I don't think they have failed, it's not something you can make overnight, it's a process that takes decades. They are doing things their way, is it good or bad time will tell... they have a lot of money, so I guess they have a chance to do something.

What makes European football so good? Well, one of the important things is the football schools and academies... Players are made from a young age. Football is very popular and many kids play & follow, so if other countries manage to interest people, especially many kids, they might do something more. Simply put, if they manage to make football as popular as it is in Europe, then they have some chance. How hard that can be?

You are right, mate but like you said, it will require a lot of money to do that, and I do agree with what some other persons has said that the future can not been known yet until it happens and me I already said that I don't know when that will happen. It is very possible but not an easy thing to achieve most especially when those mentioned leagues who are currently at the top still continue to work hard and increasing in partnerships, sponsorships and popularity.

Any other league around the world can rise up to join the big leagues, but then, it completely depends on their level of effort and investments in key areas that will see that they achieve that kind of goal, for example, getting and being able to pay marketing agents across the globe, being able to create and host global sports events, being able to attract big and international investors, sponsorships and partnerships etc.

I won't comment on Saudi professional league since I don't know much about this league.

(Nottingham Forest is 159 years old) That's a lot of years of reformation.

They might not care for small leagues and I think this is for the players that are still in their prime. But once they are past their primes, I think they'll have to think about the future of their career and aside from that, the money is all that matters to them. So, the chance of them moving from a bigger league to a smaller ones as long as the price is right is possible. We're seeing this with the other sports like in basketball, players from the NBA are moving to smaller leagues when they're past their prime and they still get some good contract overseas. Though, this is not a discussion about big leagues being in direct competition with smaller leagues, because anyone with a minimum of common sense could tell you those big leagues will always have advantage over big and families leagues.
I believe the important part of this discussion is whether a small league can start to grow stronger and grow enough in popularity for them to start to rivalize with those who already have all the attention, the star players and the money of the fans, funding in general.

Just because Al Nassr signed up Ronaldo, doesn't mean that Saudi Pro League should have the same popularity of other European Leagues. That is true, it would take years and years before a certain league will achieve their worldwide popularity. Ronaldo may be highly popular but all the others are still not known by many.
But at least for Saudi, they are visible in some news already owed to Christiano. However, they need more prominent players for the fans to talk about. Also, I don't think the term failed is right here. Because are they competing with European Leagues in the first place? I don't think so. Maybe, they are just looking for ways how to elevate the popularity of their league why they signed up a lucrative deal with Ronaldo. I think we shouldn't undermine what can come ahead of us. Until now, it used to be English Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and maybe the French league dominating the scene until one time the Chinese league became a thing with tired legs moving there to retire because of the money. Now we've the Saudi league to contend with. A lot of big names in Europe have moved there. No one saw that coming a few years ago. So, we can't be sure it won't move to another in the future. For all we know, it could be Russia next.
