Self-awareness, we need to know before hand that there are a lot of Telegram crypto scammers. So with that in mind, we should took every message with a grain of salt specially with unsolicited links. We should be aware that we shouldn't trust anyone here in the crypto world. And for sure, since crypto has been with us for the last 10 years or so, we should have the knowledge already on how they're going to victimized us. So I guess the burden is on ours to be more attentive and vigilant so that we won't be another statistics here.
A new scam method keeps on coming every day by day and old ones get modified, so a need for of reminder for those who are always aware is necessary. It's better to get warned over and over again than for them to get scammed out or ignorant.

This scammer on telegram sometime you and they share same work group, and they start conversation as if they don't mean any harm build little trust with you and then come up with their scam intention when you least expect it.

In telegram you can limit people who can reach out to you so at the first place is you can avoid this already. But thats the old version apparently the telegram now has their Premium feature.

Now if your usual transactions are in TG platform I guess having this is just a safety measure but if you are kind of person who casual use this platform what I do recommend is. Dont entertain other people who you dont reach out, dont click links given to you. Sometimes people forgot this phrase of "Don't talk to strangers". In crypto space one mistake it could ruin your life.

The thing is you don't have get tempting with anything that looks good to be true because no free lunch without doing something. If you see a word "make money fast with us" or "join us to have financial freedom" or "invest this and blow your bank account with money", that is fake.

They just want to trick users by giving temptation about making fast money but we know there is no fast money making. All will needs process and time so that is one way to identify scams along with others that you might already know.

Don't use telegram unless it's very important that you must use it.
Make sure you are in your lane, don't cross your boundaries by giving attention to PMs, it's even better if you can deactivate PMs under your telegram settings, strangers have nothing good to offer you especially on telegram, they are there to use you and dump you right after they are done with you.

Anyone that PMs you first don't mean well for you, any crypto telegram group you join always be the one to PM the team first, most of the times they will have signs like this..

Victor | I don't PM first.
Micheal | will never PM first.

That's because some scammers are impersonating the teams, and they will drain your wallet if possible, if you have a problem find the team and PM them first, don't enter the group and tell everyone that you are facing a problem, they will bombard you with fake profiles instantly.

Its fine to use Telegram and nothing wrong with this platform.

The problem will start only if you entertain those random messages will pop up on your inbox. If you set your setting that "anyone which is not in your contact on telegram can't send you a message" Most provably you won't get bothered by scammers.

Awareness about scam is your weapon to avoid any harm by using this app. Also make sure to verify your contacts if they are legitimate or not.

you are right. Most of these scammers are not even inventing any new strategies from what we have seen in history, all most of them is doing is modifying them and making them make sense and convincing to their victims. Before I come back to the telegram scam. A scammer called me couple of days ago, with a big man tone and was talking to me softly about  collecting my number from a particular group chat for an opportunity I landed, he said I won something I can't remember vividly what it was he said but that I won something and I am supposed to call out some pin to claim what I won, only for me to see some codes popped up on my WhatsApp on my screen requesting that I call it for him then I began to insult him and called him out immediately then he did same back and ended the call. This reminded me of the olden days scam where somebody you dont have their number will call you ans using the trick of winning a lottery or so. It is same format but only that it's now upgraded. The same thing with the telegram scam we are talking about.
