I think when I was in the university, I have come across a rule that says, it is plagerism when you copy upto 5 words verbatim.

First time I’m hearing about this rule, don’t they use turnitin to check the similarity report? The general rule on what is considered plagiarism and academic misconduct is when you lift another person’s work or rephrase/text spin without making reference to the original author.

Looks like he has been doing this for a long time, and he knows exactly what he is doing (not innocent). I would suggest you report him for plagiarism and text spinning, and also to the campaign manager with about 3 or 4 examples. If he doesn't get banned, he will at least get booted out of the signature campaign for that kind of shit posting

I have come across a situation so many times in the gambling board where someone wants to quote and reply to someone but drops the quote as a reply again below the comment. In some cases, they add it together with their contribution.

What are you even saying? Did you read the two posts at all before defending the guy this way? Fine, anyone can make a mistake, but if it is the mistake of copying the OP and pasting it in his reply as you claimed, it will be word-for-word without removing a single letter. That doesn't look like it.

The guy only changed some words/phrases, which looks like a poor spinbot's work.

I have never seen this type of plagiarism with many years in the forum. There are some types of plagiarism I knew and collected in [Tips] to avoid plagiarism.

It is a new creative way of making a post as reply longer but unfortunately it belongs to plagiarism, in my opinion, that can leads to an account ban, even permanently and without a second chance by intentionally repeats it many times.

Since he is copying some part directly, it means it's plagiarism. If he change words and rewrite the quote then it is soft plagiarism. Both are punishable I think from forum moderation. You can report on the Meta plagiarism thread as well, so mods would handle it if they missed to notice from this thread.

I’m not sure. I just see this for a pattern to writing and in some case, it could be due to the reason the OP has mentioned, trying to meet up with the characters and by not being a native English speaker, you would understand their struggles.

It's okay if you could take a look at the community rules again so you would not be ignorant of those things you supposed to know. It seems you have broken the rules here and all you have to do is to improve ASAP rather than requesting for a PM when you make a mistake. He admitted to his mistake, so he will probably get a second chance. The moderators actually deleted the posts he was accused to have made through partial plagiarism which means they saw the reports but were lenient, but if he continues with the habit, I don't think he will get another chance.

I think the campaign manager has given him another chance as well.
