Occasional Poker Rounds

I'd be up for poker in about 1.5 - 2 hours. I got brutally sick last time and was more or less knocked out for quite a while. If you or @memehunter or anyone else wants to, we could go for a little round. Prize money, you can decide ($10 or $20?).

I guess now the window is well over so how about tomorrow 1:00 PM UTC?

We can play today, I am free for a casual poker game... 1 or 2 pm UTC. Last time we almost played Omaha, so maybe we can try it today?

should we revive this topic and have occasional poker rounds? Maybe it shouldn't be too spontaneous. A bit more structured with a light schedule, so we got some agreed upon times where it is most likely that a few players got the time to play.

I think the last time I played poker was with you and meme... roughly said, months ago.

We can try to revive occasional poker rounds, but somehow I feel it will end up with three of us... Meme, you, and me. When it comes to forum poker players, it seems people like freerolls or tournaments with the lowest possible buy-in/requirments.

So can we find a few more players? If yes, we can try something... I am good with any structure/reasonable buy-in, as always. Time is a tricky part, but I will give my best to find it...

Yes, that's where most shy away when it comes to the buy ins. Surprise surprise...

Initially I was thinking about running a league-like heads-up series. I thought about having it a bit more flexibel, so timezones can be taken into account, but the matchups would be everyone against everyone (standard league-mode) and takes place every Sunday, or could make exceptions if someone just can't play on that day. Although this would only be fun if we have a good number of players.

Magic circle, we always come back to "good number" of players... It's hard to get six players together for a full 6-max table, for 9-max, it's even harder. And there were sponsored games/tournaments/series with a "nice" prize pool... So I'm not really sure we can find players, at least a few active poker players who want to have fun with "occasional poker rounds".

I would actually still be down if an omaha game takes place. NLH is just too boring for me actually. Waiting for half decent hands sometimes takes forever and with a blind increase every couple of minutes that's just not for me. I prefer action.

@AHOYBRAUSE I quickly checked on Pokernow whether it is possible to play Omaha, wasn't sure whether we did before, but it is totally possible. What was actually the reason we never had a round of Omaha? I can't remember. I am all for it if we can find a few guys here willing to join. Six would be the minimum? Or four? Can't be that hard to fine a few more... Or well, @iv4n is right, was always the small group of us three back then.

We had a few rounds of Omaha... You, Meme, and me, if I remember that correctly. But all that was a long time ago... time is flying.

Even four will be tricky, but we can still give it a try & have fun. More players, more fun... but 6 sounds impossible. I hope I'm wrong, but we will see.

Yeah omaha would be fun. I knew they had it but all the tournaments are always NLH, so I didn't feel like playing. Still considering playing the series but since it's always on the weekend, where I am mostly busy with basketball or family stuff, I am not so sure if I can participate. Ok but I kind of remember we were discussing rounds of Omaha, but never got to it? I am not against Omaha at all and as far as remember, @iv4n is not against Omaha. Anyway, can't recall why we never managed to set a table up for that, but more than happy to kick this off, fine with a small circle of serious players and then set the times such that it serves everyone well. I know the "earlier" the better for you and I think iv4n is pretty flexible. I can post something in the coming days and then we'll see who is interested.

I don't know as registration is open until 8th of August before the first round starts. There are around 10 signed up so far, Royse and me will play of course, makes it 12, and I think a couple of sign ups will come towards the end of the registration period. Time difference was 7 ours I think, right? Rounds start at 22 pm for you? Means you would still play until well after midnight assuming you don't get busted early.

I was thinking about running a round of Pot Limit Omaha 5 Hi on August 16th, 13:00 UTC. If you are interested, it would be great if you drop a response here. I think I will be able to play on that day... I will be on vacation (out of town), but I guess they have internet. $20 buy-in is reasonable, if you lower it a bit, maybe more people will join. I'm also fine with other variants, sometimes it's interesting to remind all those poker variants I have played...

Wow, 25 players so far in the tournament, seems like a nice participation. Unfortunately it's too much of a commitment for me, time wise. 10pm in my time zone obviously is a nice time, but also a kinda busy time, especially Saturdays. 

About the omaha thing, generally interested of course. Let's see if I can make some time. I was surprised pokernow actually has omaha 5 card now, even the h/l game. Last time I checked they only had normal NLH and regular PLO with out h/l , so having the option to make it 5 card is a great addition! Price wise I guess I am ok with that. So if I can make time I would definitely be in.
