Following the messages related to a topic about BTC purchases, I noticed that many users were hodlers and had never bought anything in BTC, but perhaps early adopters regret their past purchases? In the case of Laszlo Hanyecz (purchase of two pizzas for 10,000 btc in 2010), he said he had no regrets because it helped raise awareness of Bitcoin and promote its use as a currency.

What about you? Do you regret past purchases?

Yes, I do regret purchasing stuff with BTC in the past. Several years ago, I got scammed by two people and I've sent them around 130 USD worth of BTC, back when the BTC price was in the 4K-8K range. I don't want to get in detail about how I was scammed. After that, I don't use BTC to buy goods and services anymore. I only use BTC to buy fiat money(when I need the fiat money). Getting scammed made me appreciate reversible fiat transactions more. With digital fiat there's the possibility for you to ask for a refund, when there's a problem with the seller.

I don't think it should be in the regret zone, especially in the times where nobody knew what would bew ahead of us - it's history now.

I think we shouldn't actually regret over any past actions. If bitcoin hadn't turned out the way it is today, I guess Laszlo would have said something "like I knew bitcoin was a failed project so I'm happy I had mine spent on something worth it." the fact is people will always have something to say in both the good and bad times. During the crash in 2021, alot of investors would have already regretted even more than they did when they bought bitcoin in 2010.

If I'm willing to sell my Bitcoins today and price decides to skyrocket, then I won't regret anything as I already enjoyed my portion of the fun. Remember the crypto market is highly unpredictable so you take chances while you can.

Why do you really need to regret? You spend your Bitcoin for your needs. You use Bitcoin as a currency to fulfil your needs, and it was the actual goal of Bitcoin to make global transactions without any third party. When Bitcoin serves its original purpose, then we shouldn't really need to regret. Same as the pizza guy, everyone should think the same way. Even though you don't consider it an adaptation, you can use it as currency.

I have used Bitcoin to buy products online, including domain hosting. So it does protect privacy as well, unless it's physical goods. Also, I have been using virtual cards where I have been spending through Bitcoin, though it does need converted to USDT. But I have never regretted my spending yet. Because it's necessary for me, not a hobby.

It's about the journey, and we should be okay with what we do, because we see it as the best option for ourselves in any case (at least we should, hehe).

There is only a little regret when I remember the thing I purchased using bitcoin. During my early days in crypto, I managed to saved bitcoin from faucets enough to buy a new phone. I sold my bitcoin to a local merchant here in our country that accepts bitcoin in exchange for cash to buy that phone. I used a huge amount of bitcoin since its price that time is only $20k. If I just knew its future value, I would not have spend it at all and just save it for my future.

No one would've thought bitcoin could reach its price now. Few years ago, only few believed on it. People even get it for free through some faucets but now, many wants to get a chunk of it.

Bitcoin use has become more popular due to the fact that Bitcoin has become more like a Fiat currency because of it's acceptance level in almost every part of the world more business ventures has started accepting bitcoin as their means of transactions in their business Bitcoin will become a universal currency in the nearest future,Bitcoin has moved past the level of just a crypto currency that was seen as a store of value it is now a big time business that people invest in

Bitcoin became popular not because it was being used as fiats but because of the investment opportunities that Bitcoin has. More people know Bitcoin to be an investment that they can invest into instead of it being a currency for spending hence we'll always have those not spending Bitcoin despite how many people are into Bitcoin. The people using Bitcoin as a currency isn't yet popular around the world but we're getting to that stage of adoption very soon. With time Bitcoin will be used more but while we're still waiting for that to happen, we can encourage others around us to make use of Bitcoin by adopting it in our various businesses. We have more holders than spenders but as Bitcoin keep getting main stream audience, we'll get more people spending Bitcoin in the future.

Use BTC as currency

The only way you can do it properly, is to make real bitcoin coins. Government stopped the guy who did it long ago. The only way you could do it is to make some form of Bitcoin Private Membership Association, and keep the coins private.

It's a good idea. Soon the whole country would become private members, and we would overthrow the USA, right in the USA.

I have never regretted buying Bitcoin, but I have regretted selling it. When I first bought Bitcoin, the price of Bitcoin was around $45,000. But when I sold Bitcoin, the price of Bitcoin was around 57,000, meaning that probably a few months after I sold Bitcoin, Bitcoin would hit 80,000. That is, Bitcoin is a currency where no one can predict which direction the market will go. However, we regret selling Bitcoin now, but when Bitcoin exceeds $1 million 10-20 years from now, our regret will be even greater.

Honestly, I doubt this will happen because of characteristics like volatility, unstable transaction fees, or network congestion during peak hours. Those things really make it difficult for bitcoin to become a popular and preferred means of payment. Not to mention, people all over the world realize that its value increases over time just like gold and even outperforms gold. Given such valuable assets, I don't think many people would like to spend them but instead hold them for profit like we are doing.

Not many of us want to spend bitcoin or use it as a currency, how can we encourage others to do so and who will listen to us? Bitcoin is more suitable as an asset, an investment than a currency or payment method.

Laszlo Hanyecz never believed Bitcoin will be this big and again he had so much of Bitcoin so using some to buy something he needed is okay, truly he those not have any regret he has pushed Bitcoin to what it is now and it has also made him popular and his name will never die when ever you mention bitcoin you remember Laszlo Hanyecz and the bitcoin pizza day will celebrate today is because of him so I don't see any reason he should regret I know for sure he still has many Bitcoin.
Now we always forget the store owner that decided to accept Bitcoin as payment for pizza we all know that as at then Bitcoin had no value and the volatile nature of Bitcoin was still there and yet the store owner decided to accept that Bitcoin from Laszlo Hanyecz as a means of payment, I hope the store owner held the Bitcoin and didn't sell it immediately to get his money if he sold it immediately I know he would be regretting his action.
As for me I have not made any purchase using Bitcoin maybe because in my country I have not seen a store that accept Bitcoin as a means of payment I would love to try it one day.

I have never regretted buying Bitcoin, but I have regretted selling it. When I first bought Bitcoin, the price of Bitcoin was around $45,000. But when I sold Bitcoin, the price of Bitcoin was around 57,000, meaning that probably a few months after I sold Bitcoin, Bitcoin would hit 80,000. That is, Bitcoin is a currency where no one can predict which direction the market will go. However, we regret selling Bitcoin now, but when Bitcoin exceeds $1 million 10-20 years from now, our regret will be even greater.

FOMO builds up step by step, and we need to act up now than to be sorry later.

Never bought anything with Bitcoin, but I converted it to USDT a few times and then to my currency and used it for various purposes. If I look at my wallet and see the transactions and compare it to the current price of Bitcoin, it has gone up quite significantly, but do I regret it? I don't really regret it, because I used Bitcoin as best I could for my own needs and my son's, and I also had no other option but to use it. If I had other income at that time, maybe I would not have let my hands touch the Bitcoin and let it sit.. but there are one or two things that make you not able to do that. But why regret the past, like you can turn things around, it's better to focus on what is right now.

If we use Bitcoin when needed - we are doing everything right.

There is always the opportunity and possibility to buy more, and we will be able to sell it when our targets are reached / we need it.

I never brought anything Why becausee
I still see that Btc as investment rather than purchase good
Spending btc on things like snacks, gadgets, or even the pizza just doesn’t make much sense in the long run
At the time it feel normal maybe even fun
but later you're like,
Transaction fees on each item
Wait What I used how much for That
That's the reason I try to see the BTC more as that something to hold and grow rather than to spend

Sometimes it cost more on fees than the thing you are tryies to buy on Like come on I’m not about to pay $20 in fees
just to buy a coffee It’s just not worth it

So for now Use regular money for daily stuff
It’s just smarter and a lot less stressful

Even if the fees is 0 currently I don't think most local shop will able to adopted on them atleast for now
Maybe in future my view will change who know but
Until these high Transaction fees no

Why would anyone use bitcoin instead of cash as money?
Cash is much superior because it can't be controlled and has no tracking or ledger or anything like that.
It makes no sense how people can be happy with a currency that has no privacy.

Satoshi had a good idea about "no one will know it's your bitcoin address". But the problem is that because bitcoin is so easily tracked and we have firms like coinanalysis, it's too hard to not have your identity linked to your bitcoin address.

But the point is that Satoshi understands privacy is important if your will use something as money. His idea was good but it failed because he didn't foresee how weak that privacy is about "no one will find out it's your bitcoin address".

There are some I do regret and others I don't nor would I ever will.
The ones I do are purchases that ended up not been useful and felt like a waste even as at the price of bitcoin
when the purchase was made.

The regret most have is that of missing out on potential returns forgetting that Bitcoin is still money.
There are things in life that are more important than adding more zeroes to your account.

Yeah, I’ve had a few of those regret buys too. But at the end of the day, Bitcoin is money—we’re meant to use it, not just stare at it. No shame in living life a little.

There is nothing to regret and don't know how to regret it because the desire to use Bitcoin as a currency for purchasing something I can't use.
The answer is because I am in a country that does not legalize the use of Bitcoin as a currency for payment in every transaction.

Those who don't buy anything using Bitcoin have a different reason. The same answer may be because they do not live in a country that legalizes Bitcoin as a means of payment.
Everything has pluses and minuses and I believe that. Speaking of Bitcoin, it is clear that Bitcoin is a currency.

BTC has a public transparent ledger, but i disagree that it is easy to link an identity to an address. First of all, if the person has no connection with a centralized exchange or custodial service then there is no way to link their identity to their address, and even if they have used such services, only law enforcement through a court order can get their details, so not so easy like you say.

In the case of Laszlo Hanyecz (purchase of two pizzas for 10,000 btc in 2010), he said he had no regrets because it helped raise awareness of Bitcoin and promote its use as a currency.

What about you? Do you regret past purchases?

He have no regrets but deep down he is pained, trust me.

If you want to promote using Bitcoin as means of payment option you don't have to use 10,000 BTC, there are whales from those times and they held, even if you have a lot you don't have to spend everything, always leave something behind.

I don't believe him for anything, because with 5000 BTC today he will be living like a king with his family, so him saying he has no regret is a big fat lie, even a 0.2 BTC been spent in a store is doing the same job as spending 10,000 BTC, now he is talking as if he did the world a favour.

This is a costly lesson that everyone must learn from, when it comes to digital asset they are good for making payment but don't spend all, because they are also good for long term holding, don't be a fool.

I might believe you if you knew how many BTC he has in total, how many he has left today, and what his philosophy on life is.

If the 10,000 Bitcoin was a small fraction of the total, it clearly means nothing to him. If he's otherwise happy with his life (positive thinking isn't related to money or possessions), why would he lie about his past purchases?

You see things from your own perspective, but your reality is not universal.
