I was watching a video on the neighboring network, where a young asked the following question:

What have you lost the most money on and still regret it to this day?

So I looked at the comments and most people said that they regret losing their own money on bets, and one of them even lost 30 thousand.

So this topic came to my mind with the current question: Have you ever lost money in any way and still regret it to this day? Have you ever gambled or bet and still feel guilty? If so, tell us a little bit... If possible, give us more specific advice on how to gamble without losing a large amount.

It was during the time when i gambled my rent money and had to confess it to my friends to help me out. It was more shame then regret though. And i can't regret that too much as that was kind of bottom from me, and a wakeup call that i need to change something. Without it i could have messed up worse.

I don't feel as much guilt of that anymore as i am proud that i got help and fixed how i gamble. I set some new ground rules by trial and error, and still occasionally revisit them and fix them if needed. I am glad that i didn't have to quit completely like with smoking, but i had to take break though.

What i feel guilt of is that some of that money i could have used better way, and in many ways i would be in a better place. But that's for all of my money, like salary and savings. I have wasted my winnings as well in the past. Today not so much.

Have you noticed that nobody also regret starting gambling at all. No one regret getting introduced to gambling. There is a saying that "you will regret more for opportunities you did not take than those you took and they turn out bad". This statement is applicable in gambling because people will regret more for games they forecasted or have access to but did not play them and it worked than those they played and they failed. I have my own bunch of regrets in this area because I have been opportune to play some games that worked but due to the fear of losing money, I did not play them. I don't regret my losses as much as I regret missing opportunities.

We’re not really regretting it because if we did, we would've quit gambling a long time ago.

For me, I don’t regret losing as long as I stayed within my budget. What I do regret is when I go over budget and get careless as that’s not part of the plan, and that’s where risk management goes out the window.

But as a gambler? No regrets.

Even with the losses, I can’t deny gambling brought real entertainment to my life, just a bit of an expensive hobby.

Saying "I hit bottom" is simple. But, it's more difficult to examine your bottom, re-enter there, create a map, and return with something useful. You did that. Actually, the most hardest thing is how you go over and adjust your ground rules.

What you mentioned about not giving up gambling is more honest than most rehab talks. You constructed the barrier instead of amputating the object. In the same vein, former smokers may discover new routines or people rediscover how to love once betrayed. You gave it terms instead of rejecting the urge.

Often, the regret about wasted winning results from the false reasoning one could have used that money correctly if they had saved it. Truth is, most people really do not spend "found money" wisely either. Careful with that type of guilt, then. It is mostly fiction and seductive.

I regret most when I forget how important it is to strictly follow my own rules. In moments of weakness, we can all be bad judges for ourselves and make concessions. Although before that I promised myself that I would be very strict with myself. Sometimes I manage to say to myself "enough, you have won from the game, there is no point in playing further and waiting for a miracle, take what you have and leave." But then there is a desire to play further and often the deposit decreases after that. This is offensive and I regret this most of all.

It's not usually easy to remain discipline but with constant practice, you will get used to your own self discipline. while I was facing such problem before, I completely abstained for sometimes and then I had the idea to write down some rules for myself, so that anytime I want to go and gamble, I will make sure I remind myself of those rules and keep it in mind so that once I start deviating from the rule, I will come to realize it and stop at once. I know some people that lacks discipline in gambling, they have lost so much money that they regret about it, being in such situation is not really so good.

Regrets do always come at the end and if you arent that mindful about on securing out your profits at the time that you are winning then you will be that deciding on trying out to play even further because the primary thing that comes up into your mind is that you might be able to win up even more because you are that lucky on that particular moment but to know that this isnt how gambling works in reality and then you have lost all the winnings you had made out earlier, then this is where you do make out that realization that it isnt that working on this way.

Make it sure that on the time that you do play gambling then always be better that you do really know on when to stop and cherish out those winnings that you had made out instead on losing it back into the house. Gambling should be just that for fun and winning is just that a bonus but if you do want to have profits then secure while you can or when you are lucky but most likely you do still spending it up back again into the house.

A lot of people regret why they started gambling in the first place, I used to get tormented by it but like you said we still find ourselves doing it over and over again..I wouldn't call it love exactly, it's an addiction, being addicted to something does mean that you love it.. it's become a repeated occurrence that you cannot control.. There's no excuse to keep gambling irresponsibly because it's something that can cause a lot of damage to your financial life.

To answer first this question, the most money I have betted and lost amounted to around $500 converted to cash in the year 2014-2015.

Back then, I was a fresh college student who was really addicted to online games, specifically DOTA 2. I was quickly introduced to a casino website called dota2lounge.com where you can bet your in-game character skins on teams competing with each other. I successfully garnered an estimate of ~$500 worth of Dota 2 skins after a month of doing my bets.

Suddenly, my friend introduced me to a blackjack game in steam where I can use my Dota 2 skins to be traded as "keys" worth $2.49 each during that time. At first, I doubled my money but after three (3) days of playing blackjack, all of my skins were lost and I never repeated this streak again.

Like what I mentioned above, it still haunts me to this very day that I could've just stopped and call it a day. However, that experience taught me an invaluable lesson- which is the act of discipline and contempt. Even if I had lost money, that lesson stuck with me and this prevented me from gambling more than I can ever lose in a single entry.

Rather than feeling sympathy for this, I think I will curse people who do feel regret when they have felt the loss because of gambling.
I know that in the end regret will always come at the end but in this case are they not aware that they made a very big mistake before but did not try to stop and control themselves? Gambling from the start is a risk and in this case loss is something that can be a certainty so gambling will be done as long as we can overcome the losses we have.

If from the start they were aware that their capacity was poor in self-control and regretted it after doing it, in the end why try from the start, especially with a large amount, we know that gambling is about luck so why try to bet with a nominal amount of money that we cannot afford to lose just because it depends on luck.
The mistakes they made themselves, the regrets they felt themselves and when they had money they would gamble again and regret it again after losing. For me that is a very ridiculous condition.

I think the word "curse" sounds harsh when it comes to regret, but regretting a loss is easy; the hard part is being aware before you bet on something you can't afford to lose. If a person already knows they have no self-control, why do they take such big risks? The problem isn't just luck, it's persisting in making a mistake as if the outcome could be different. And then repeating the cycle as if it were new. That's not bad luck, it's self-deception.

But in the end we also realize that it would be foolish to keep saying regrets for losing at gambling but still continue gambling when we have money.

Saying this may be too harsh but for me it is something that will still be done because in the end the regret is just a waste of time if the next day we still gamble and end up regretting losing the money we have.

Unless maybe there are some distinguishing moments such as when regretting and wanting to change life by stopping to gamble maybe I will better filter the words I mention but if in the end the regret made is only temporary and we cannot let go of gambling that will continue to be done then it is not a regret but a stupid act that only wastes time where our thinking is indeed immature.

Its not like it didn’t turn out the way he wanted. Overall he regrets " whenever he hits the limit , but keep going " which means he's  likely addicted to it(maybe) since he cant control it and definitely this act could have drain him somehow..or maybe not because in his recent topic he seem happy with gambling generally

But once it is gambling we keep talking about because we have hoped on it for a win, to at least utilize the money won on something else.

Anything that involves money will be important to any person, it is or is something that will always influence, in my case I don't have that kind of memory, I learned to disconnect from that because otherwise I would have no other thing to do but think about it, the same thing happened to me when I studied engineering and I couldn't solve a particular problem, because I was like that I would even dream about the solution, and that in part didn't let me rest, so I learned to Disconnect from such things, it's much healthier.

I haven't lost so much that it became part of my story/ my deepest regrets. When the going is good, I ride with the tide. When it starts getting rough and tough, I just look out for it and catch up in time. Every single bet is planned and focused on a goal - if I win, good, but if I don't, so be it.

Well sometimes I regret ever learning how to gamble. Yeah, whenever I see the person who introduced and taught me how to gamble, I'm always like. "Yo man, you did me dirty and I ain't gon forgive you for this" . But yeah, this mostly due to the losses I've experienced in gambling, whenever I remember those previous major losses or experience new losses, I tend to regret why I even learned to gamble in the first place. Indeed, no one would regret winning in gambling because that's mostly like the best part in gambling but too bad the losses comes more often...

I regretted using my tuition fee to gamble just because I thought that I cam double it. It didn't end well for me since I couldn't meet up with the payment and that made me get an extra semester in school. Sometimes, we need to ne careful with our decisions when gambling so that we don't end up putting ourselves in a deep mess.

Recently, there was a discussion here about how a business partner lost all the money that was kept in reserve for the business because he had the same goal to double the money and return it before anyone found out. But he lost everything, and it was a large amount, which put the entire business at risk, since working capital is essential for the normal operation of a business. The same applies to education if you gamble the money away and can't find funds for your studies, you could end up without an education…

That's a good set of rule for yourself.
If you are going to be in that losing streak then it's your personal matter that's important.
And quitting with that consecutive losses is a pretty good amount of losses because not all quits when they are going with a 3-4 losses straight.

This is not from casino, but I lost a significant amount that I can also consider gambling and that is from forex trading. I'm the one at fault because I engage myself without deep knowledge about it and I chose the pair with much higher risk. The money I use is part of my profit on being a hodler of Bitcoin. Thus, I still regret that I made such decision just because this close friend tempted me to try what he's doing. Anyway, i'm at fault and it's a lesson learned.
