I know that there could be threads about movies portrayed gambling and we could have discussed it already.

i dont think if there is a thread about movies that was discussed here  before.

But are there gamblers who really been influence by gambling movies to go and try gambling for themselves here? Or watching a movies that relates to poker and says I want to be that guy?

i was not inspired by any gambling movies to try gambling rather i grew up being motivated by friends and pair group who somehow manage to win big and challenged me into betting and i tried severally but couldn't win as much as i expected, but even as that i have never gave up on gambling, i am just gambling for fun and hoping that i will win big someday even though i am not even sure. gambling movies can only inspire the movies type because i dont watch movies that much and even if i do i will just see it as a movie role.

Ever wonder though how gambling was really shown in pop culture like in Movies? Some of them might be realistic as they could hire someone from behind to manage a gambling scenes to make it real. But there could be movies that's pretty much boring.

There are many films where gambling is part of the plot or even the main theme of the film, but in such a way that I wanted to count Blackjack cards irresistibly after watching the film, well, I didn't have that. But I remember watching a couple of movies about the game of Go a few years ago, and I became interested in this game, even though it's not a gambling game.

In general, of course, movies or TV series can serve to popularize games, including gambling, but I don't think this factor is any significant compared to advertising. A film can provide a short-term increase in interest from a small audience, and nothing more.

Reality is far beyond movies, although some scenes are non-fiction but not relating to gambling because on the movie, they will show what the audience will believe in their head but can not really happen. There's this movie that the gambler was at the casino, he asked a beautiful girl he met there to wish him luck before he start gambling on the slot machine, the girl wished him to win a jackpot and boom, it worked. After winning, he went and pecked the girl, gave her some money as gift and asked her to kiss the coin he wants to toss in the slot machine for any round. The girl kissed the coin and wished him another luck and when he played, he won another jackpots.  The movie is just an act of what is not real. So, I don't take motivation from movies, it can be deceitful.

I think that there are many gamblers who are influenced by movies to gamble, because in those movies usually will show a glamorous, rich, and fun gambling life, and those things make people motivated to become a gambler so they can feel that kind of life. Even though we ourselves understand how the life of a gambler is actually not like in the movies. The reality can be the opposite of reality and sometimes it can be a false ambition that leads someone to become an irresponsible gambler.

People are attracted and gain interest by what they see and it's the same with gambling, there's always a starting point either in movies or any other means. I get fascinated when I see gambling scenes in movies, the way they portrays it will make you to want to give the games a try. But my interest in gambling doesn't have anything to do with what I've seen in movies, it's what I see physically and that is sports bet. We have many sports bet shops or outlets in many cities in Nigeria, and somehow you'd be drawn to gambling. Gambling adverts are on the increase this days and people are drawn to it because they see them just like in the movies.

In the films, there is simply always a screenwriter and the director want to cause emotions, the viewer’s experiences, so that he remembers the film, so Gambling is always exhibited in such a light, as if it were something not legal, there is a lot of money there. Be sure to have a moment in which there is the largest bet and the protagonist wins it either or is twisted and does not accept the losing in a genius way. Is it not for this that we love films. I am more concerned about the pop performers who are the faces of the casino and bookmakers, I have nothing against this, but just those who adore their music, as if getting involved in the games of them, which can cause some of them some losses.

I think that was the old aura of gambling casino's back then. It  was mysterious and only a few good men and women can enter the vicinity as they have to show their money before going inside. I was never influence but I was fascinated by the movies specially the Chinese movie God of Gamblers, Lol. It was funny and mysterious as well as one gambler can change the card in an instance. And then later we have the movie 21, wherein for sure majority of us have seen it and how several MIT students and a professor somewhat go in a gambling binge in weekends, won a lot of money in Vegas and be back in the school on Monday. So there are a lot of movies that sip into the mainstream and pop culture that could really influence most of us here, at some point.

Not just one person but i'm sure in this case there are many people who are influenced by gambling films, trying to realise it into real gambling, however, i personally have never been the least bit motivated by watching a film, especially a film that features gambling. Maybe they are motivated from seeing how to get rich when gambling, trying to solve tricks to win some money at the gambling table or displaying the luxury of gambling results, which of course this raises the feeling of wanting to have the same thing without realising that the film does not show the risks that will be faced, because big wins are always accompanied by big risks too.

There may be many movies about gambling and many people can learn about gambling by watching movies about gambling and can participate in gambling. I have seen many movies about gambling but so far I have tried gambling myself and I have not participated in gambling by watching any movie. Since participating in the Bitcoin forum, I have taken a lot of good ideas about gambling and with many good ideas from here, I can still participate in online gambling very well and win.

No, this has gone beyond just a movie, I think it happens in reality, even though it may not be common and also does not come often, but we truly have some genuine genius who could use their mathematics skills to calculate games like Lotto or slots and any others which deals with numbers, am not saying this to ascertain that whatever we watch on a movie is true, but to an extent, there are few we could see happened in real life, even though it rare to see.

I don't feel encouraged by movies promoting gambling, because I know it's fiction. Even though there might be an extremely lucky or skilled gambler on the movies, I know that in reality it won't happen that way with me, so it's foolishness to be triggered by gambling scenes from movies. Sometimes movies are heavily motivational, but we have to be careful to not be dragged by the fantasy and romanticized situations displayed there. It's important to keep your feet on the ground...

Yes, there are people who are influenced by gambling movies especially when their favorite actor is the one acting the scene.  They tend to get influenced by the scene because they feel that it adds handsomeness to his character since he is following the method of an actor in the movies where beautiful women surrounds the actor.

Another thing is the person got curious about the game and wanted to try it.  We know that popular actors are the best agents of promotion especially when the movie that contains that gambling action hits it big.

And it is indeed not a children's spectacle because such gambling movies are specifically for adults.
But adults who believe in movies that feature big wins continuously will also be affected that they can win more at gambling and only lose less with the strategies they get from movies.

Anyone must be aware and know that everything done in the film is already a set and the story made is only fiction/unreal and never happened.
There may be some stories that are taken from the success of real gamblers, but the process will certainly be more complicated.

Yeah OP, movies are like that. Some are good and some are bad. If I will be making my own movie, I will not waste the opportunity but try my best to make a good one and will even hire a specific people like in our case here are a gambler to make some scenes more realistic and appealing to the viewers.

Yes, there are a couple of gambling movie threads I saw here in the past but yours here is still different, so it is only fine. To answer your question, yes I've been influenced by some gambling movies that I saw, like for example the God of Gamblers movie. Anyone influenced by gambling movies to gamble will be influenced by gambling ads to gamble. There's no strategy I can learn from watching gambling movies. They portray more about wins making one person look good rather than the real deal. Even though I seat up during those scenes it is mostly because sometimes I easily relate to it.

It's different though if we talk about underage, as usually if gambling is involved in films it should be like 18+ years old and above that can watch it. However, there are a lot of avenues for someone as young to access not just gambling movies, but any other movies for that matter.

And it's true that gambling has somewhat gets into the pop culture, movies of like the James Bond franchise, who always had this included in their every film, they even had one, Casino Royale, which talks about gambling as the center piece of their story.
