Nah, I was never influenced by movies. It's the broadcast poker game tournaments that I was influenced by. I really like the tension that is happening whenever there's two or three people playing until the end. Bluffs, skills, analysis, and everything. You can see that a poker player will try their best to identify the card of their opponent.

I have not really seen a movie that took long playing gambling games, or maybe I just forgot about them. Most that I see are just short lines while they are gambling, and sometimes none.

I personally become interested on blackjack by watching the movie 21 because I become curious on card counting which I think cool that time due to guaranteed profit.

I tried to apply card counting on live game blackjack after practice then feel like I’m on the movie. That movie makes me a blackjack player despite I’m a regular baccarat player and slots.

I do play craps too after watching the Chinese movie that plays craps. I forgot the title.

Probably underage kids maybe? Because this sounds stupid to me, only kids watch movies and want to be the character even if they understand that what they are watching is fiction.
I believe there is nothing hidden about gambling and its wins, anywhere you are living in the world there is always some gamblers who turned drunkard in the neighbourhood, c'mon someone must have seen or heard about stories of gamblers living close by.
I am a big fan of movies and I've never for once feel like gambling just because someone in the movie is crazy to risk everything they have on gambling and they end up becoming a billionaire.

I just love to gamble. I guess it’s because people around me got me into it early, and I find gambling movies really interesting. Maybe learning young helped me enjoy it more.

They say minors shouldn’t gamble, but my story was different. I started young and, honestly, I made a lot of mistakes even lost my whole salary a few times! But man, I learned from those losses. I remember once watching a movie from China, the main character was called the god of gambling, I once fantasized about becoming a god of gambling especially when there was a scene playing a Foker game and coincidentally at that time I was studying Foker. So yes, I have to admit that the movie more or less influenced my interest in pursuing Foker at that time, but now I rarely play Foker, it's too boring to wait for other players especially when playing Foker online and I hold 2 bad cards, spending one round feels very long.

Just to try the same game as in the movie, maybe there is, but to be someone in the movie, I think gamblers also won't fantasize that far.
The characters in the movie roles definitely provide motivation to a gambler, especially if the casino game scene played is a game that is also a gambler's favorite. But it doesn't provide the right strategy or way to play. The luck in the movie will definitely be good for the main character, it will be different if the gambler applies it in real gambling. It can be lucky, but it can also be a loss.

Movies makes unrealistic ideas come true. It makes you believe that gambling as a profession is actually possible, which is not true. So I don't think it's right getting motivated from movie clips. Iev watched so many gambling moves where someone is an expert especially on roulette or poker. They make it more like you can apply mathematical skills or abilities into your gambling sessions. As for those moves, they are all scripted, they don't need to get a real gambler to help set the whole scene up.

When I hear the phrase gambling, I immediately think of James Bond movies. And I'm sure you also understand that these movies clearly present casinos as something solid and reputable. Where the main character is always lucky and everything is shrouded in an atmosphere of success and mysticism, and of course, beautiful women are there. All this puts the casino in a positive light only and I can remember many such examples, but this is the most striking, when I remember Bond's scenes about casinos, I only have positive emotions.

I don't know, i don't think it's like cigarettes. i never saw in movies that gambling was cool.
I have seen a lot of casino gambling especially in James Bond movies, but always and only at roulette and never at slot machines.
Card games like poker in old western movies, but never gambling.

When gambling is a tiny part of a movie that is there only to connect some of plot twists, then all the time gamblers are shown in negative colours. If the movie is fully about gambling, then gamblers are always positive main characters, movie always ends on a positive note, no matter what problems characters have. Such movies always show that all financial problems can be solved by gambling. Such movie never show anything negative in connection with gambling except being punched in the face or kicked on ribs, only to make viewer to be worry about main character. Main character lied, scammed, cheated and stole money? Poor guy. He is doing all that for the sake of a good cause (or for love if script is cheap ). Most popular gambling movie - Casino. Shows that you can do lots of bad things and get dry from water in the end.

This means that gambling in the film has influenced the community at them wide, where many people want to try to play gambling like what is done in films even though we understand what they do does not bring any results other than loss.

As far as I know the gambling played in the film is the motivation of many people to do as in the film, especially in blackjack, poker and so on, meaning that the film is a big influence on the public to try gambling.

Movie scenes always have influence on the viewers, especially young people. Young people want to exploit what they see because they don't have the understanding that most of these are staged and managed. I can't vividly remember if a gambler in a movie has really influenced me, but I usually like the gambling scenes in James Bond's movies. I don't think I have ever wanted to gamble like him but his cars and extraordinary personality thrills me.

It never crossed my mind to see a gambling movie directly motivated, because I myself have a critical thinking that in the movie it is just fiction and the victory or prowess of him gambling is not entirely true this is just a movie story.

Will consider that gambling games are not easy... even if we want to become professional gamblers, will we be able to realistically? That gambling should not be influenced by anything... we play come for fun.

I think I have seen movies where some guys play smart in poker or roulette games and win huge amount, and  that made me think I should be like this guy some day but then I realized all that was a movie and  not reality. and I wouldn't want to take it seriously or border myself as everything in the movie is fiction and not reality . Movies world is different from the real world gambling. Desiring to be like the guy on movies is easy but how real it is? So it is good you face the reality than phantasizing on non reality.

Recently, there was someone in the gambling discussion thread that started a topic about gambling with close examples from movies and I end up telling them that movies are unrealistic events happening but in real life, the events from gambling might be different.

There might be gamblers who are influenced by movies they watched but they are few in the real world. Most are influenced by the experience they get while gambling or from the experience of others in the industry.

The power of influence is real, and while some people may not have been influenced by movies, they have been directly influenced by seeing the lives of some persons they know are gamblers. People can make a lot of assumptions, and if they see someone who is known to be a gambler doing well in life, they can quickly assume that the person is doing well because they are gambling and then choose to want to be that person without actually knowing. Influence is real that is why you must always check where influence is coming from before you allow yourself to be influenced.

Movie is never a source of motivation to me to gamble in any ways and for sure I believe my gambling journey is somewhat predestined to happened since I blended in well with no much stress like that, I use to pick interest in few physical gambling games untill the online cryptocurrency casinos came in and the whole gambling thing got increased, with trying to cash fun, not na not seen a movie about gambling before or even try to watch a YouTube videos.

As far as I know most of the times gambling is portrayed in popular culture through movies which relate to the nocturnal life in cities like Las Vegas and how gambling is explicitly tied to the economy and social development of that city.
There must be several movies already in the market of entertainment which main plot revolves around gambling in Las Vegas.
That being said, I think those movies could indeed influence on the future of teens and children, as they get curious on what is going on those movies they are watching and they could easily investigate what is all about (thanks to the internet).
There are people go get immediately fascinated with poker since the first time they saw it on a movie, and they start gambling in their early teens, becoming life long gamblers.
Also, there are depictions of gambling in videogames, but that is becoming less frequency with each years that passes by, because of the controversy it creates on parents.

I believe there are users that have been influenced by the movies related to gambling. However, we can't have the statistics for these because quite hard to get those numbers. But I have a good feeling that there are indeed gamblers who started gambling owed to the movies that they have watched. Just look at those multi-million dollar lottery movies or the Ocean's movies. The lucrative lifestyle in gambling is quite an interest of most players.
