Greek Football 2025-2026 Season Discussion and Predictions

The other day i was looking into the greek leaderboard and i cant believe what my eyes saw, what the hell is this season of Panatinaikos?

I mean how they are so low in the leaderboard, they look like trash and the team is nearly the same as other years, with some "good" players, at least for the greek league level, so what happens with them? I saw also Rafa Benitez is now the coach and is not doing a bad job, but the season is already lost.

That's true, Levadiakos is in fourth place while Panathinaikos is at fifth. What's more intriguing is that they were on a losing streak when the League started, ranking very low on the standings (something like 8th to 10th place), they've somewhat recovered now compared to a few weeks ago.

I was also pleasantly surprised watching Olympiakos win against Ajax, it was a tough match and my $15 bet on over 2.5 paid off, lol. I wish I had placed a larger bet, but I'm fine with winning as well.

OFI is currently winning against Atromitos with a score fo 2 - 1, we're at the 63th minute of the game and OFI is so far dominating in the field. The bet I've placed has already been won, (over 2.5) now I'm simply routing for OFI to win. Atromitos' offence is lacking so far, if OFI manages to keep up the defence and maintain the score for the next 30 minutes, we should be good to go. I'm confident that we're going to win, but there's still a decent amount of time left, football is quite unpredictable and I don't want to say anything just yet.

I like this week's match day because some of the top teams are matching against eachother.

PAOK Aris is a game of eternal rivals for northern Greeks and then for Athenians we have Olympiakos and Panathinaikos which is the true eternal derby in Greece.

An interesting transfer happened these days, Panathinaikos bought Jagusic, very talented young player and one of the best in our national league.

All of us Dinamo Zagreb fans expected him to come back from Slaven Belupo (we all thought it was bascially a done deal), but then out of nowhere PAO came with a much better. Rumour has it that Dinamo offered 2.5-3 million, while offer from Greece was double that amount+20% of the next sale.

It will be just in time for the big derby tomorrow, but I doubt he will get any minutes. Then again, since PAO is just awful this season, who knows, maybe he even gets in.

It genuinely makes me wonder what is going on and why now. Why not spend a stable amount on academies and small local transfers as an investment and instead go all out in the year the team experiences one of its worst years in the domestic league.

This management is a big big mystery to me. I can't make sense of it ever since I can remember myself paying attention to football.
The big question not is if the transfers will pay off.

It's a common trick for management to try and push a few millions to try and fix a team through transfers. But surely that's not all that is needed. There's more to it.

So if I was presented with an option to bet on if Panathinaikos can win a title next year I'd gladly bet on no. Somebody tell polymarket 😁

Today seems to be a good day for some bets, Aris vs. PAOK is going to be an interesting match, the two Thessaloniki teams against eachother, while the other derby is of Panathinaikos vs. Olympiakos. Both are tough options and I'm looking forward to watching them in the evening. Also, OFI is playing against Levadiakos again, after their game in Pancretan stadium for the Greek Cup on Wednesday ended in a tie. Do you think we're going to win this time?  Levadiakos' performance has been great this League, standing in the 4th place, ahead of Panathinaikos.

Some analysts are saying that for Panathinaikos this transfer season is the biggest investment the team has received in its entire history!

According to Transfermarkt, they spent 30 million this season on new players. Then again, they sold players for 45 million, so I guess they can afford it.

Same here. My money would be on Olympiacos. Panathinaikos screwed me over too many times to put money on them.

Same here, I highly doubt Panathinaikos is going to win, but never say never. I also wasn't expecting OFI to win against Levadiakos, let alone score three goals, but it happened. Both teams were great, but if I had to be honest, I'd say Levadiakos had more chances of winning, Wednesday's tie also made me unsure on today's outcome. Fortunately though, that was a tremendous victory. Aris vs. PAOK is currently live with no goals scored at 35', and Olympiakos vs. Panathinaikos is to start in about an hour and a half.

Well, that's a twist I wasn't expecting from Panathinaikos. We still have approximately 20 minutes left + the added time, thus, there's still a chance for Olympiakos to score, but the chances of them winning are quite slim at the moment. At best, we're going to end in a tie, which is the result I'm speculating will be. We'll see soon enough, but it's going to be quite devastating for Olympiakos if they end up losing. I'm currently on the edge to see the outcome of this derby, I wasn't confident that Panathinaikos could win.

Levadiakos' performance has been top-notch in the Super League so far, so it was surprisingly pleasant to see OFI win again.

It was a surprise, but during the Greek Super League, or at least in its first few weeks, OFI's performance was quite poor. It has substantially improved now, but still, Levadiakos is on the 4th place of the League, with a difference of over 14 points. That's not something minor and I'm really surprised to see OFI pull it off. The final is now on 25th of April against PAOK, I'm not too sure if we have a chance of winning, but never say never. I guess, we'll see in a couple of months.

For OFI to win against levadeiakos in the greek cup it was a huge upset. Already it was upsetting for them to win against levadeiakos in the league and even better able to score so many goals.

It feels like levadeiakos overestimated their chances to win while OFI was playing a more technical game. OFI has been switching coaches lately like it's nothing hopefully they'll stick to something that works. But PAOK is celebrating its 100 years also and will be yearning for doing the best they can for the cup.

I saw the notification but then completely forgot about it! Yes, that's right, I don't believe OFI has many fans outside of their "base". Many fans have already purchased tickets to visit the final of the Greek Cup on April, you can barely find plane tickets in those dates!

As for Levadiakos, I also believe that you're right. They started the league very assertively but the effect slowly died down, as it can be seen by their recent performances.

Today Olympiakos is playing Leverkusen and given their run so far I think if they do their best they might have some chances for a tie at least at full time.

Looking at the odds gamblers for the game seem very undecided also.
I'm very surprised odds are favouring and Olympiakos win. Leverkusen is a much more reputable team in terms of international competition. But Olympiakos is in the champions league qualification list after a very long time and now the fans are very pumped. Although the teams performance in the home league is kinda mid lately.

I'd still say it might be worth it to try a bet on Leverkusen.

Kudos to Olympiakos for reaching that far already, and is playing on Tuesday 24/2 again; who knows, we might have a different outcome. As for the Greek Super League, there are only two matches for tomorrow, Olympiakos vs. Panetolikos and Atromitos vs. Asteras. I'm personally looking forward for Sunday's match of OFI vs. Panathinaikos. OFI has had a winning streak for the last few matches, but Panathinaikos is Panathinaikos, so I'm not quite sure what to expect. Also planning to bet on Levadiakos vs. AEK.
